Nick Bolton extended 3 yrs $45M
|
That $$ amount is... not bad? I think? I don't actually know.
Tell me how to feel about this, CP! |
Ok welcome back then young man!
|
Hells yes!

Even if you’re mad about the money, and I’m not, it’s a 2-year deal with a third year team option. That’s not much.
|
That's fine.
|
I know he's had a checkered past but he turned into a fine young man and player when he got to KC
|
Helps with LB not being a pressing need. Doesn’t sound terrible.
You can still draft a LB if he’s BPA. I’m good with it. |
To the ship?
|
Cool another domino.
I fully expect Reid and Omenihu to walk and the Chiefs the sign either Cam Robinson or Dan Moore Jr based on the first 3 dominos. |
Losing both he and Reid as the brains of the defense in one offseason would have been a huge challenge. I’m glad that’s not happening.
|
Well that's good news, Omenihu and Wharton are gonna be gone just a matter of if Reid comes back or not.

I said he wasn't going anywhere. He's literally Spags most favorite player ever in his whole career.
|
This is also a solid compromise contract, he didn't break the bank and probably gets a better offer on the open market..but this lets him be a FA again when he's 27.
|
Damn good deal.

Sorta like how they drafted Bolton a year early. |

Better than Trey Smith at $23 million, that's for damn sure. |
That was the line for me so I’m okay with this.

And folks will absolutely HATE him. Don't care - here for it anyway. |

I feel like its DJ next year. |
Hollywood and Bolton nicely done.
We typically drag shit out like this, but Veach seems to be moving fast. |

And they should absolutely be willing to consider it. Once that tag pegged his floor at $23 million, his leverage in a LTC improved a lot. And when we traded Thuney it went up still further. It just blows my damn mind that we didn't get this done last offseason if we decided we were going to keep him and Creed. And nothing they saw in 2024 should've changed that calculus at all. It was just a mistake, IMO. |

Congratulations Mr. Bolton! Glad to have you back, sir!

Good 'ol Chant Nick
|
That number is a reasonable number based on the rising cap expectations.
|

But past $18 million Id have to think about it a bit. |
worth every penny. he does way more than your average backer and you will be hard pressed to replace it in a single off-season.

We have to do something about the cap soon, right? We are way over with these new contracts and tagging Trey!
By Tuesday I think. |

Tranquill didn't adequately replace Gay last season, IMO. He damn sure can't replace Bolton. Lots of athletic 'backers in the draft this season - hopefully we can manage to relieve Tranquill in 2026 with one of 'em. |
We could bring Willie Gay back for like 5 dollars.
|
NE and WAS will be competing with us for LT. I think it will be pricey.
Wharton, Omenihu and Reid are gone, unless we ignore LT again and decide to go all in with a trade up. I doubt Veach goes that route though. |

He's good at what he does.

$15 mil for him? Eh…overpay in my opinion. He can’t cover anyone for shit

I think all of that is true. I think Fisher was a good, but not great LT. Certainly the best we've had since Roaf, but nowhere near Big Willie. d Smith was a downgrade, but still workable. I understand he's fully healthy now and wants to play. If so, I could stomach he and Humphries competing with Kingsley in TC. I'd rather not tie up a ton of money in a less than average player like a Cam Robinson, but if Veach and Reid feel that's the best plan, I won't complain. I kind of doubt it, but I've rarely guessed right on what Veach is going to do in advance. |
The Broncos were almost certainly gonna get him if we let him walk.

As a Mizzou fan he’s easily my second favorite player so I personally am stoked on this. Dude is a stud
|
Glad to see this, great news.
|
For the money keeping the quarterback of your defense who knows Spags system and who Spags adores it sounds good. You take the good with the bad with Bolton, but he’s better more times than not and a good investment, when he’s thumpin he’s ****ing thumpin!
|
In Veach we trust but I am struggling to understand why $19M per year to Sneed off a season where he was a top 5 CB wasn’t worth it but $15M to Bolton is.
I realize Sneed was bad last year but don’t think the result would have been the same if he stayed and he’s far better than what we tried to plug at CB2 |

People who don’t get this move — just always remember the intangible stuff. He’s another coach out there. That’s why he sticks. |
isn't that about what we paid Anthony Hitchens?
seems like a good deal to me |

This was a smart move. |
Sneeds knee was/is cooked it would appear.
|
He's a good player and it's not a huge deal. Ill trust Spags and the team that this makes sense. I didn't realize he was still 24!
|
It’s a two year deal at approximately $10M/year cap hit in those two years with a third year option at a cap hit of $25M. You pay him or extend again if he balls out before we get to that number and if it doesn’t work out you bite the bullet and spread the hit over two years. I’m fine with the money/structure.
The real argument is could you keep Reid/Wharton and/or bring in vets like Willie Gay and Charvarious Ward and is that a better use of the same dollars? |
Like him. Leadet and good LB. Nice.

Didn’t we laugh at the Colts when they did this with Nelson and Leonard? (I don’t mind this Bolton extension, though) |
