Should we extend one of our own?
Ok, so we have roughly $27 Million in cap space. For easy figures sake we will just take $7 million for draft class and such off the top, leaving us with $20 Million to do something with.
With that part of that $20 Million in cap space should we go ahead and extend Humphrey, Bolton, or Smith? |
I say Bolton and Reid
|
Probably 5-7M on Donovan Smith or Veteran Tackle
Probably 5M on a backup QB - I propose Tannehill Probably 5-6M on DE Mike Danna That's 15-18M and would leave us with 9-12M for the rookie class and cap flexibility throughout the year (although, if Omenihu goes on PUP, doesn't that give us more space for flexibility?) |
Sign Donovan Smith. Sign Justin Simmons. Extend Humphrey.
Take BPA in draft. Win the Super Bowl. |
Extending Reid could probably actually get you a little extra cap room, or at least be cap neutral. If they don't, I think it probably speaks to the team figuring on replacing him down the road.
|
No, unless it saves us money.
I'm not extending anyone just to extend them. A lot can happen in a year. |
I wouldn’t extend Creed until he figures out how to snap the ball at Patrick’s waist instead of his shoe tops…

Other than Bolton I'm not sure who the team would want to extend. Creed and Trey Smith are going to be too expensive.
|
i would wait to extend Justin Reid, tbh. He's 27 (or going to be soon) for one thing. He's never been particularly good in coverage, and that fact probably will be more exposed in 2024 without Sneed out there to help camouflage that shortcoming. Now, if he shows that he can be better in coverage this coming season, then maybe extend him.
|
Yeah, I'm all for bringing back the OL that won us a Superbowl and especially Bolton. Having a solid group of LB's has been a key to our success.

I didn't think about Tannehill. That's a good idea
|
Tannehill would definitely be the backup of choice for me too. Unless Giga Chad Henne wants to come out of retirement.
|
I am torn on Creed. He is awesome and I would love to have him but he will be expensive and we have been able to draft the C position fairly well.

I'm out on Tannehill. I'd rather have Carson wentz over Tannehill.

Creed had a hand injury, that's why the snaps were the way they were

Nah, trade them all for 2025 4th rounders
|
If we didnt extend Sneed or even let him play the year on the tag so we can extend Creed Im gonna lose it
|
we've really only extended Mahomes, Jones and Kelce. It's not the Veach way
|
But I fully expect them to extend McDuffie, that dude is something special and that's what it takes to get an extension in KC.

We should and will.
I expect Creed, Bolton, and Butker to get deals this offseason. While I hope we can keep Justin Reid beyond this year, they will not extend him yet. It’s because the safety market is so down that I don’t think he can get his $14m per year salary even on the open market now. But he is very unlikely to accept any less than that this offseason since it’s his current salary. And then if he takes a step back or Conner gets better, you may just move on. |
I'd sign Creed because he's going to be cheaper than Tre Smith, which is nuts to me.
If you found yourself in the draft with a good center available you take him and slide Creed to guard. I'd wait on doing anything with Bolton, love the player but not at the price people are talking. All that said, if I'm Veach I'm drafting a guard and LB in this draft. |

Despite the snap concerns from the outside world, it doesn't bother head coach Andy Reid. Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Reid said he isn't one bit worried about Humphrey in that regard.
Related video: Andy Reid talks at the 2024 NFL Combine (KMBC Kansas City) Yeah, listen, Creed is a diligent, diligent player," Reid said. "He'll take care of that. I'm not worried about that. He's a relentless worker, and we'll get all that taken care of." https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...ps/ar-BB1j04EM |
Meh. Jason Kelce wasn't ever the most accurate snapper and it didn't hurt the team or his career as far as I could tell. At least they're all consistently low. If he was jerking them 3 yards over Pat's head/way off to one side I'd be a lot more concerned.
