Report: Jets Believe Mecole Hardman Leaked Gameplan to Chiefs, Eagles Before Games

Quote:

The New York Jets believe that ex-wide receiver Mecole Hardman leaked the team's gameplans to the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles before Gang Green's games against them last October.

Hardman signed a one-year deal with the Jets last offseason, but his New York tenure lasted just six weeks before the team traded him back to the Chiefs, where the ex-Georgia Bulldog played the first four seasons of his career. Hardman's Jets tenure ended with him getting just three targets over five games played.

Hardman, of course, ending up capping the NFL season with the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII en route to the Chiefs' 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Hardman recently appeared on The Pivot podcast with ex-NFL player and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, and he mentioned that he was so checked out before he left New York that he claimed he begged the Chiefs to get him

If Hardman did leak the gameplans, then it may not have had too much of an impact. The Jets played two of their best games of the season against the Chiefs and Eagles. New York handed Philadelphia its only loss over its first 11 games, beating the Eagles 20-14 at home.

However, it appears Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, in a since-deleted tweet, implied that Hardman leaked the gameplans.

Two weeks earlier, the Jets very nearly dispatched the eventual Super Bowl champs, losing only 23-20 while quarterback Zach Wilson enjoyed one of his best games of the year (2 TD, 228 yards).

Ultimately, it appears there's a lot of bad blood between Hardman and the Jets. And the drama isn't over, with general manager Joe Douglas saying Hardman's comments on The Pivot "definitely resonated with us."

Hardman's implication that he asked the Chiefs to come get him when he was still under contract with the Jets is certainly of note.

For now, though, all sides have business to do. The Jets are trying to bounce back from a disappointing 7-10 season sabotaged when quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1. Meanwhile, Hardman is looking for a new NFL home after his contract expired.

Lol

Dunerdr 02-28-2024 10:34 PM

He did you a favor. The draft picks more valuable than a win in a shit season like the jets had.

Bump 02-28-2024 10:47 PM

ROFL

ThyKingdomCome15 02-28-2024 11:01 PM

That's one miserable team man.

Dante84 02-28-2024 11:11 PM

Yeah.

They decided to wait until the day after he talked shit on them to share this information.

carcosa 02-28-2024 11:26 PM

Lmao

TribalElder 02-28-2024 11:30 PM

YEAH RIGHT MOTHER****ER

LIKE THE JETS HAD A GAME PLAN ONCE RODGERS POPPED HIS TENDON

Hark Clunt 02-28-2024 11:39 PM

great job mecole!!

BWillie 02-28-2024 11:40 PM

Why do they assume Hardman actually knew the gameplan?

BossChief 02-29-2024 12:13 AM

The vision of him catching the Super Bowl winning TD pass is something nobody can ever take away from him. He’s a big part of Chiefs history forever.

But… god damn he’s dumb.

I’d still take him back for another year if he’s willing to take the min.

TheGuardian 02-29-2024 12:16 AM

Can we extend Mecole now?

T-post Tom 02-29-2024 12:27 AM

The Jets just might be the most dysfunctional team in the NFL. Total train wreck. The fact that Saleh (16-32) is still the HC speaks volumes.

BryanBusby 02-29-2024 12:29 AM

Yeah sounds logical. He leaked the gameplan in the two games where they looked competent.

AussieChiefsFan 02-29-2024 12:34 AM

Mecole played like 20 snaps the whole year for them, what are they on about LMAO

Imon Yourside 02-29-2024 05:17 AM

Mecole was our secret agent all along. ;)

Raiderhater 02-29-2024 05:31 AM

The accusation could almost be believable if it was just his former team he was playing double agent with, but WTF would he share info with Philly? They lose whatever credibility they mar or may not have when they add that silliness into the mix.

Spott 02-29-2024 05:43 AM

That’s weak sauce.

The suggestion was because they have a lot of Georgia Bulldogs (Hardman’s alma mater) on their team. I don’t think he overlapped or played with any of them. Most were rookies last year and the Eagles were generally beefing with KC all season following their loss to us in the Super Bowl.

That just makes it even more silly.

I’m sure it been said before, but Saleh is a dead man walking here. Jets start out slow, he gonna be gone first!!
And I don’t care!!!

Jets played their best game of the year against the Chiefs. They sure he didn’t leak our game plan?

An accusation like that should have massive consequences if they don’t have proof.

warpaint* 02-29-2024 06:53 AM

‘I’m not saying it happened, but it definitely did happen’

What an absurdity. The Jets have always been entertaining off the field, the tradition continues.

Their other best game was the Eagles. ROFL

The NFL script writers are getting really lazy. This time last year it was Toney and the Giants. The Big Apple is red

Just like Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore.

notorious 02-29-2024 07:51 AM

Salary cap cheating, deflategate, recording other teams' practices.

The Chiefs' scandals are pretty weak in comparison.

O.city 02-29-2024 07:52 AM

He's said a bunch of dumb shit, we probably end up losing a draft pick for all this

If it's true, and maybe even if it's not, he's going to have a very hard time finding another team to play for.

Rainbarrel 02-29-2024 08:00 AM

The whole state of New York, all three teams. Hate us. That's winning

Goddamn flyover team! :cuss:

BigRedChief 02-29-2024 08:03 AM

What they are saying is that we needed their gameplan to beat them? LOL

TomBarndtsTwin 02-29-2024 08:30 AM

As the article points out, the Jets played two of their best games of the season against Chiefs and Eagles.

Maybe Mecole should have leaked ALL their game plans??

He pointed out the Jets solid defense and complimented them. He pointed out the dysfunctional offense and the mess that it was (which is true) and he got them two late draft picks for basically nothing.

The Jets should be forever grateful.

He talks too much. He should have just said "I'm glad to be back with the Chiefs, it didn't work out"

It really is this easy. These guys are too stupid to realize this.

duncan_idaho 02-29-2024 08:44 AM

The best thing that came out of this whole thing was Hardman continuing to pull back the curtain on nepo baby Nate Hackett.

displacedinMN 02-29-2024 08:47 AM

Smell the desperation from loser NFL teams. The stench is astounding.
Jets, broncos, raiders, iggles, bills, niners,

my god. what a ****ing crock

Marcellus 02-29-2024 09:28 AM

Hilarious that the 2 games they had their best offensive output they claim Hardman leaked the game plan LMAO

This is as stupid as trading for washed up ass Aaron Rodgers.

Red Dawg 02-29-2024 09:35 AM

Good grief. The SB is over. We won and reports about Hardman doing this or that are beyond boring. I think it's funny that fir second year in a row a nobody we get from another team via in season trade makes an impact in the SB and gets a ring. Giants and Jets are salty.

Rainbarrel 02-29-2024 10:06 AM

Kinda hope Hardman did what highschool kids did when they got their class rings. Turn the face towards the palm and slap everyone else on top the head

Shields68 02-29-2024 10:15 AM

Hardman "Man, Wilson is not very good. There are a lot of running plays in this week"

Eagles/Chiefs "wow never would have guessed, thanks"

It was most likely “we just suck” which is an accurate description of the game plan for every game .

Molitoth 02-29-2024 11:03 AM

Man why can't people just be classy?

Mecole could just have a response like "That is between me and the Jets, I thank them for the opportunity but It didn't work out."

Instead we get all of this backhanded shit talk that may have blowback.

Thats just Mecole dude. He's not the sharpest tool, and he's never been the mature type.
