Oh **** yea

smithandrew051 10-27-2022 10:31 AM

Oh wow.

I’ve heard of him. Let’s go.

FlaChief58 10-27-2022 10:31 AM

This piece of shit any good?

Mr_Tomahawk 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Who?

-King- 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Uh....ok...

loochy 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Kinda JAGgy numbers last year

Sassy Squatch 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Nani?!?

wheeler08 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

A 3rd rounder for this guy!?! He’s played what, like 3 games? Blah. I bet he has elite talent, but he’s been a cancer so far his career

WhawhaWhat 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Former first round pick that wanted out of NY after half a season. So far he misses more time than Sammy Watkins.

louie aguiar 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Is he any good?

BlackHelicopters 10-27-2022 10:32 AM

Never heard of him.

Initial google search returned a former first round pick that runs 4.3 but hasn't really done shit in the NFL. 23 years old.

Talented but always injured and seems to love the life outside football more than football itself.

For 3rd. I'm shocked.

Marco Polo 10-27-2022 10:33 AM

When healthy, the guy is a stud. Problem is...he hasn't been able to stay healthy. Seems like an overpay but lets see the conditional terms.

mr. tegu 10-27-2022 10:33 AM

This is great. Ever since Watkins left I’ve been concerned we didn’t have any WR with hamstring issues.

BigBeauford 10-27-2022 10:33 AM

He has 0 stats this year. I assume an injury?

hard to tell when the only pro QB you've played with is jones or whoever the F his backup is

staylor26 10-27-2022 10:34 AM

Some of y'all need to learn what "conditional" means.

Urc Burry 10-27-2022 10:34 AM

He’s electric, but red flags galore. And that’s putting it mildly. Hope he works out because he CAN be awesome

Mecca 10-27-2022 10:34 AM

Oh this is a guy I liked in the draft, his skillset is a good fit for the offense and Andy...

dannybcaitlyn 10-27-2022 10:34 AM

I like it . Building your future with young wide receivers!

The way Schultz tweeted it made me think he meant our comp pick

loochy 10-27-2022 10:35 AM

So it's a kind of low risk, high potential kind of deal.

Alright, as long as you give him a try.

scho63 10-27-2022 10:35 AM

My guess: our new punt returner

Sassy Squatch 10-27-2022 10:35 AM

So do they actually mean the compensatory third? Because the way they're using conditional doesn't make much sense.

htismaqe 10-27-2022 10:35 AM

Interesting. Didn't see that one coming.

Shoes 10-27-2022 10:35 AM

Anyone unfamiliar with Toney, flashed quite a bit in his rookie season. 189 yard performance against the Cowboys last season on a below average Giants passing attack. Talented for sure but has been injury prone- interesting pickup.

Wonder what the conditions of the 3rd are.

Quesadilla Joe 10-27-2022 10:36 AM

Some background...

Quote:

There was some internal momentum for bailing on Toney during his tumultuous rookie season a year ago. His commitment came into question behind the scenes during his rookie year due to lack of playbook study, poor meeting behavior and frequent injuries.

The high-maintenance wideout hasn’t shown up to any of the team’s offseason program yet under first-year coach Brian Daboll, either. So the Giants are trying to move last year’s No. 20 overall pick.

Toney missed ample practice and game time from May through December due to a laundry list of injuries: two positive tests for COVID, a hamstring, ankle, thumb, quad, oblique and shoulder.

He got thrown out of a loss to the Cowboys for throwing a punch. And he had a toe or foot issue in OTAs when he wore the wrong-sized cleats and practiced at one point with one shoe on.

tyton75 10-27-2022 10:36 AM

considering we have a ton of picks next year and he's on a rookie deal.. I'm all for this!

philfree 10-27-2022 10:37 AM

A punt returner so we don't have to worry about Skyy muffing any more punts?

BigBeauford 10-27-2022 10:37 AM

Looking like a gadget player. 3rd seems awfully high.

Infidel Goat 10-27-2022 10:37 AM

The phrasing implies to me that the 3rd is conditional (and he'd have to be healthy and produce something) for that.

You're getting a guy who went in the 1st for basically nothing...also going to a winning team with an elite QB and HC tends to appease dudes.

Interesting I guess

BlackOp 10-27-2022 10:40 AM

Veach is all over scouting WRs...so he knows about him. Must have liked what he saw..

He is next years Hardman...conditional 3rd rounder for a 23 year old WR that had a 1st round grade...seems like an educated risk if he meets the trade conditions...which I would assume is tied to his health/character concerns.

Kind of a no lose deal...

DJ's left nut 10-27-2022 10:40 AM

****ing Noice.

Toney can play. He's got some learning and growing up to do, but that's 3 cheap years in front of him at a pretty reasonable price point.

He is, to me, what people thought Skyy would be.

Oh, and he can return punts the instant he's healthy enough to step on the field.

Though I think that almost certainly answers the Mecole Hardman question long-term. A LOT of what Hardman does, Toney would be able to do.

Sassy Squatch 10-27-2022 10:40 AM

Yeah, not sure this guy actually is all that injury prone given his behaviors outlined in the SI article. Seems more like he's purposely missing as much game time as possible. Now the question is why the **** he was doing that? Unhappy being on the Giants? Or just a bit of a dumbass in general?

Both.

Mile High Mania 10-27-2022 10:41 AM

Dude has a lot of talent, but sounds like there is some drama too... conditional 3rd and a 6th isn't bad if he produces, which he should be able to with Mahomes.

dirk digler 10-27-2022 10:41 AM

chiefzilla1501 10-27-2022 10:43 AM

His talent level is insane if (very big if) he can stay healthy and motivated.

Im intrigued. A playmaker is a playmaker. I’m not entirely sure where he fits since we have so many speed guys. He does seem well suited to fill tyreeks role last year as a short pass catch and run guy.

Sure-Oz 10-27-2022 10:43 AM

@TomPelissero: For clarity, both picks Kansas City sent to the #Giants are in 2023. And the third-rounder is not conditional.

-Jitter Bug like moves, very SHIFTY
-And Elite acceleration

Likewise, sir:

Now I'm guessing that's the Giants seeing the $$$ being given to WRs and thinking they may be able to maximize his value here and get him moved for a 2.

But if we could get him for one of those later 3s I think you have to strongly consider it. He'd come w/ 4 years left on his deal if you factor in the 5th year option; same team control as a 3rd rounder would have. And his price would be relatively low for most of it as any signing bonus accelerates onto NYGs cap.

I think I definitely pick up the phone anyway.

GET IT DONE VANCE!!!

Dante84 10-27-2022 10:45 AM

Okay so, Andy Reid is going to get Toney open in space. And he will be fun to watch, if nothing else, when that happens.

Best case, I think he's WR Dante Hall with a bigger body. Fun to watch, not a world beater.

3 years of player control, he's only 23 years old, and is going to a great environment. He can get on board and ball, or get kicked to the curb.

We had the picks to play with, so low-risk, high-reward.

htismaqe 10-27-2022 10:45 AM

So you guys were right - it's one of our comp picks, not a conditional pick.

-King- 10-27-2022 10:45 AM

So if it is the compensatory 3rd and the 6th, yeah he kinda of needs to have impact this season. So better hope his injury issues are just him faking it and he can actually play. Even though that scenario isn't exactly a good endorsement on the kind of person he is.

This is a boom or bust deal.

Old Dog 10-27-2022 10:45 AM

Not a big fan of this one, but I reckon I've been wrong before

Wisconsin_Chief 10-27-2022 10:45 AM

I mean, I'll trust Veach and Reid, they obviously targeted the guy if they're willing to send that kind of compensation. Not a guy I would have moved on but then again I'm typing this from my phone as I sit here and scratch my sack, so I suppose they can have the benefit of the doubt.

staylor26 10-27-2022 10:46 AM

Wow if the 3rd is not even conditional they must feel really good about a change of scenery for the guy.

Matt Verdarame is saying it’s compensatory

smithandrew051 10-27-2022 10:47 AM

So we’d have him for this year plus 2 more and 5th year option? Am I right?

I mean, if he works out, then it’s a great move. You likely won’t find this kind of talent in the third round.

RunKC 10-27-2022 10:47 AM

The Ryan Poles pick is not as good as people make it out to be. It’s basically a 4th.

This years Poles pick was Leo Chenal who was the 103rd pick.

I don’t mind this trade as we have two 4th rd picks, one being for Tyreek Hill

So for basically a 4th and 7th rounder.

OnTheWarpath15 10-27-2022 10:48 AM

Something tells me this dude is about to “get healthy.”

As DJ said, he’s immediately the PR. And dude is only 23 years old.

Well worth what is essentially a 4th and a 7th.

Ken Bone 10-27-2022 10:48 AM

We traded our compensatory third-round pick that we received from Ryan Poles taking the GM job in Chicago. Still, this is a risky trade if he's a cancer in the locker room.

Oof. Okay, that's a bit stiff given all the shit that goes on with him. Hopefully we can mitigate some of that shit.

He won't be a cancer here with Mahomes and Reid. We're not the Giants in any way shape or form.
