Oh **** yea!
McDuffie, Williams, Watson Our CB room got so much better this weekend. |
Corner farm, profit!
Wyoming, has probably crushed Allen's nuts |
Love love love this guy. I can’t believe he lasted this long.
Incredible value |
Good lord. Veach isn’t playing around with the secondary.
|
defense and then defense
|
I think Bart Veltch actually does value the CB position

I don’t understand this.

Give me all the DBs!

Another Senior Bowl guy. PFF has him ranked 187 overall, we got him at 243. Fits the tall CB profile that Spags likes, 6'2". Early impression is positive. Veach knows CB's.
|
I wouldn’t be shocked if this guy takes Baker’s roster spot.

And I would venture to say we have plans to bring in a free agent defensive end or two soon. |
We used to do just fine with late round low investment cb
It’s one reason we were able to have such a powerful offense. We didn’t spend heavy on defensive backs. And for good reason. The nfl doesn’t allow a lot of room for them to flourish. They basically dictate (the refs) the entire game in terms of what they’re alllwed to do. |
This is the Jamarr Chase pissed me off draft.
|
I like the strategy. Corners are a valuable position and you’re more likely to hit in developmental CBS than pass rusher which are usually premium picks.

But again, this is mostly a chance to get a UDFA into your rookie camp, work him out and try to get him into your practice squad. And he’s a nice PS candidate given his lack of experience at CB. Lots of learning left to do and these longer, levers types really need to stay on top of their technique and play recognition. Don’t expect much in the way of immediate returns and you probably won’t be disappointed. It could happen but it seems unlikely. As a long-term guy who can cycle in and maybe replace Baker by 2023 he’s a nice grab. |
Sounds like a good special teams guy to.

they have a knack for drafting CB's, surely one of these besides McDuffie will work out well
|
Nice get.
|
I turned the draft off after our pick in the 5th. Turned back on when it was our pick thinking he was long gone.
I know he’s a 7th rd pick but I really think he could be a decent starter |
I didn’t even realize it was already the 7th rd. Inconsequential pick then

Watson is a prime PS candidate. He'd 24 he's played less than a thousand snaps because academics.

I don't think anyone's gonna bend over backwards to add an overaged 7th round rookie to their active roster. And he seems pumped about being with the Chiefs so he'd probably elect to sign with our PS over others. I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up on the practice squad. There's just too many guys with more talent/experience ahead of him. He'd have to elbow past Baker AND Johnson. And hell, that's presuming we don't bring in another veteran. And he'd have to hold off the other CBs in the system who were here last year. |
This guy is like a cross between Mel Blount and Albert Lewis!
|
This kid had to go back home when he was academically ineligible and work with his Mom who managed a Wendy’s. Dude was flipping burgers and mopping floors for year and said he (obviously) hated every minute of it.
Glad he made it back and got drafted. These are the types of hungry kids that you want to succeed. |

I loved Watson's work during the Senior Bowl practice week. Chiefs may have really found something here and for outstanding value. I'm higher on Watson than Joshua Williams and I really like Williams.
|
Seems like this year's WRs are going to be less involved with ST kick coverage and return units so more DB spots on 53 man and practice squad is likely.

I wanna see him improve in tackling. There were a few open field tackles out there this preseason where he took some poor angles.
That's def where his game needs to improve. Him on an island being the last defense and having to breakdown and tackle would be a scary proposition. |
This guy has earned the starting spot opposite of McDuffie when he comes back.
|
Dude balled out when it counted.

That was a vet move. He baited Herbert into throwing that. Very nice!

Again this guy was working at a Wendy’s for a whole year bc of issues at college. He was doing grunt work working for his mom to get his head on right. I bet his mom is so proud of him tonight

Loved his post game interview. Rookies rocked it tonight.
