Netflix: Red Notice

Netflix spends $200 million on a movie. Gets A list stars and no thread?

Thought it was a fun popcorn movie. If I’d saw this pre-Covid in theatre's, it’d still be fun.

Reynolds with wise cracking insults like he did in Deadpool. The Rock doing his Rock thing. Gadot looking sexy.

Deberg_1990 11-14-2021 08:20 AM

I haven’t watched it yet. But I noticed that local theaters in my area were playing both this and ‘The Harder they Fall’ for the past couple of weeks. before they dropped on their site.

Funny how Netflix wants to be in the theatrical game now.

mr. tegu 11-15-2021 06:47 PM

I’m excited to watch it. It looks fun.

Zebedee DuBois 11-15-2021 07:24 PM

It's a treasure hunt movie, all Indiana ones etc. - except with poor acting - every line delivered with a wink to the audience.
Still, kinda fun, and Gal is pretty.

A Salt Weapon 11-15-2021 07:42 PM

We watched this weekend, was enjoyable. Not really great or anything but decent filler with some good chuckle moments.

I never saw her as a to[ shelf hot babe. She wasn't bad but a hot leading lady in Hollywood movies, that's not her. But, in this movie she is hot as **** despite her boobage size,

BigBeauford 11-17-2021 09:24 AM

The critics were right. Just a soulless movie with really bad dialogue, and some of the laziest storytelling you could imagine. We're talking "my mother was an Egyptologist, that's why I know these things" kind of tier. There might be some kind of enjoyment to be had, you'll just have to find a way to turn your brain off to one notch above vegetative state. Careful not to go full Terri Schaivo!

Yeah, I'd win wars for a longing look from Gal Gadot. She has savagely hot.

RE: the movie, if you like Ryan Reynolds banter, you'll like it. If not, nope.

I enjoyed the Ryan Reynolds "I am doing my monotone manic whisper as a I deliver my joke" thing when I was younger. He just doesn't do it for me anymore. I think he peaked with "Waiting".

Right. I think it peaked with Van Wilder. I laughed hysterically at that movie.

I need to watch Waiting again. I hated it the first time. I’m open to being wrong here.

But just because it peaked doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it.

Yeah, Van Wilder was also really funny. Dude hasn't aged a day since apparently. I almost don't want to watch Waiting again just because the memory of it in my head is so funny.

BigRedChief 11-18-2021 03:56 PM

The rock touting over 150 million hours of viewing this movie on Netflix.

I had never watch Waiting until earlier this year on Netflix. I thought it was pretty damn funny.

mr. tegu 11-18-2021 09:09 PM

It of course had some “you are really doing that?” moments but I found it plenty entertaining.

So I rewatched it, and it was funnier than I remember. Worth the time if you want a shut your mind off LOL flick.

DJ's left nut 11-19-2021 10:26 PM

Man, the amount of clunky exposition in this movie is PAINFUL.

And Gadot just isn’t my bag. Pretty, yes - but just no curves. And the Rock is looking old these days.

Just a really forgettable movie.

Coochie liquor 11-20-2021 07:27 PM

I enjoyed it. Was it a little cheesy in spots? Sure, but it kept me entertained for a couple hours. Movies you just have to go by the world they show you it is, reality doesn’t reign in the movie world. Just watch it for what it is.

I actually fell asleep trying to watch it, but I am not a Rock fan. Normally only NBA on the tube puts me to sleep. Good to see the critics agree.

When the movie is so poorly and lazily written that 2 people have to have the kind of conversation that human beings NEVER have in order to try to establish a back-story and/or plot point, it just takes me out of the movie.

There's nothing worse in a movie than these obvious exposition scenes when they're trying to fill in gaps in a plot.

Any writer worth a single damn will know the old 'show, don't tell' axiom. This movie didn't do that at all. If they didn't have a way to explain why a character would do something or know something, they just gave you a 3-4 minute scene that grinds the movie to a halt where everyone sits there and chats in overly long, overly flowery prose.

If Aaron Sorkin tried to make a heist movie after suffering a series of debilitating strokes and then falling on his head...from a significant height...multiple times - you'd have this movie.

It was honestly one of the more offensively poorly written movies I think I've ever seen.

DJ's left nut 11-22-2021 11:32 PM

I'm a couple episodes into the bonkers-ass Korean show called 'Hellbound' and I'd definitely recommend this over Red Notice.

But yeah - it's friggen weird.

At least its interesting weird, though.

If you’re going to go the Korean Route, my name is pretty good. It’s not too bonkers-ass. I enjoyed it.

This is almost exactly what I told my wife afterwards. But, it was some good sound sleep for about an hour. :D

The Rock posting on Instagram that after two weeks, this is the most popular movie of all time on Netflix. I guess it’s more popular outside of ChiefsPlanet.

It's an action flick with 3 big names, of course it's doing well.

The Rock is going to run for president and win at some point this decade, I suspect. This movie was terrible and it doesn't affect his ridiculous box office whatsoever.

Pasta Little Brioni 12-02-2021 03:48 PM

Absolutely pure garbage so not surprising it's popular with the passes. Jfc what an abomination.

DJ's left nut 12-02-2021 04:59 PM

Yeah - this movie still sucked. I don't care how many people have watched it.

Deberg_1990 12-02-2021 06:24 PM

The Rock. He had some interesting roles back when he first broke into Hollywood. Gridiron Gang, Be Cool, Southland Tales, Get Smart…

It’s like he barely even tries anymore.

Name me a good action movie in the last decade? This is the state of current movie making. You want smart unique entertainment? Going to have to go to TV. I understand this is Netflix but it was the same thing on movie screens in theatre's that Hollywood has been giving us for a long time.

I understand wanting better quality. But, that era is over in these big budget action movies. You get formulas. Focus grouped to the masses entertainment. You need to turn off your brain and just watch or just avoid the whole genre.

Wick. It's good. Unique. Fresh. 2-4? Maybe not.

I really liked The Last Duel. I don't know if it's an action movie per se, but it was good and different.

Like it or not, the Marvel movies are action flicks. And I like most of them. This is my favorite action scene of the last decade.

For someone with a serious lack of boobage, she ranks way above her weight limit. She can take on Hollywood’s hottest babes and hold her own.

DJ's left nut 12-05-2021 11:18 PM

The Old Guard was a pretty good flick - Netflix movie.

Kingsman was good and the Craig Bonds have been good. Cruise is still churning out hits with the MI series and Day After Tomorrow. The Wick franchise, Fury Road, The Raid.

There have been plenty of good ones. That one was not.

She’s beautiful but truly hot requires more curves and a rack. She just doesn’t have either.

Obviously I wouldn’t say no, but she’s not high on my Hollywood list. I recognize that she’s a stunningly pretty woman, but I don’t have the fascination with her most seem to have.

Agree with all this. Upgrade was another good recent action flick.

Personally I don’t think the Rock makes very good movies. He makes ‘meh’ movies. He needs to work with better talent like Arnold did. But maybe he doesn’t care because he’s making a lot of money anyways?

And Ryan Reynolds is getting very one note too.

ThaVirus 12-06-2021 07:42 AM

I actually agree with most here. I've never much cared for Gadot, though she is clearly very pretty.

The first time I was ever exposed to her was in Fast Five. I will never forget the slow-mo scene they had for her showing off her body as if it was something to behold.

I mean, she's got no ass whatsoever and that just doesn't do it for me. If I saw her at the beach, I wouldn't even look twice.
