Dusty Hill from ZZTop has passed
Damn.
I played Fandango so loud it pissed my mom off. That voice too, tho. RIP |
RIP - dude was a legend
|
RIP again.
Can't listen to ZZtop without feeling cool AF. |
All three members were born in '49, not that old. I saw them on the Eliminator Tour with Sammy Hagar in '84, they put a show I did not expect, it was flashy and the sound was tight!!
RIP Dusty https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...57&oe=612864CA |
Shit. A how how how.

Dusty Hill was a severely under-rated base guitar player. ZZ Top is a band full of bad asses.
|
Hank Hill’s cousin
|
RIP Dusty
Thanks Stevieray this man deserves his own Memoriam thread. He to me isn't some unknown nobody. He has left us with deep low bass lines when hearing you instantly know the band. This one stings I love that band. |

I caught their act here in Aug of 2018 at the Blues Fest here in town, great show.
|
Have mercy.
|
Any one know the KC venue they played in '81? I took a trip up there for the show, can't remember where. Not Kemper I don't think..
|
Damn.. now I'm bummed out. RIP Dusty.
|
I last saw them at Cheyenne Frontier Days. I think it was in 04. They damn near played the whole Tres Hombres album.

seen them 3 times, always a great show, will miss that for sure RIP
|
Saw them in Galveston Texas before MTV and their full on fame. They were mainly playing bluesy rock. Last time was Sandstone in the 90’s. Life well lived.
|
I saw them twice back in the day. Great show and total command over their instruments.
Hill was pretty underrated to most everyone except Billy Gibbons. The latest documentary on Netflix- Gibbons gives lots of credits to Hill for his amazing work over the years and being such a huge part of their success. RIP He had a wild crazy life and passed peacefully in his sleep- not a bad way to go. |
RIP. Loved hearing him play.

That was a trivia question. |
My most memorable ZZ Top concert was the 1975 Halloween night at Kemper Arena with Rory Gallagher. Great show with the gals dressed up in revealing costumes.
|
One of my all time favorite bands. Saw them twice, once in Wichita and then again in Nuremberg while I was stationed in Germany.
|
dang... I was supposed to see them in about 10 days... I wonder if Willie Nelson will still play.
|
Cheap Sun Glasses is one of the best road trip songs there are.
|
Saw them at Brendan Byrne arena in the late 80's with a date.
Good show |

According to Gibbons, Elwood Francis, the long time guitar tech will fill in, and the show will go on, per Dusty's request.

Funny story ...
Years ago, ZZ Top was travelling through Nashville and, for some reason, Dusty Hill wound up ordering a custom jacket from the same tailor I've used. The tailor told me that Dusty wanted a half-dozen-or-so secret, concealed pockets sewn into the coat. In the arms, in the back, behind a lapel, etc. Secret agent stuff, man. FAX |

You must buy nice jackets fax
