Star Trek: Lower Decks
This feels like it may be more STTNG with a splash of Orville... but animated. I will definitely be giving this a look.

151 and not a single reply.
I guess I'm watching this by myself then. :D |
Yeah, sorry but that looks pretty terrible....

I'm fine with Animated & I'm fine with humor in my Trek.
But I'd prefer to mix in some seriousness. I'm really going to show my age here but.. I'd love to see an updated animated series like the original animated trek(1973) & toss in humor there. If this was the case I'd be all aboard! Wasn't there a TNG episode with the same name?

It's a workplace comedy set in the bowls of a Federation Starship featuring low ranked people going about their work day. |
I....didn't hate it. Will probably watch next week.

Kirk to Spock:
What is it, Spock? Spock to Kirk: It's Trek, Jim. but not as we know it... |
Getting ready to watch it now. I'm not a big fan of Rick and Morty but I suspect I will enjoy this.

Hijacking for a moment because I really wasn't sure where else to put this. I got a decent chuckle here -

And don't even get me started on all the time travel horseshit (sometimes just a simple calculation, sometimes impossible), or how useful the Pegasus phasing cloak would have been during the Dominion/Borg Wars. Or how Picard's refusal to send Hugh back to the collective with the fatal virus was responsible for every single death caused by the Borg from that point forward. And even though we just left EARTH ten minutes ago, we're the only ship in the quadrant! https://memegenerator.net/img/instances/73784365.jpg |

I think I have Frazod to thank for that revelation. Watched them during the COVID lockdowns. |

The whole concept was dumb, though. Had I been a crewmember on that ship and learned that the captain had consigned me to a decades-long trip home in order to save a race of people who only live to be seven, I'd have shot her in the face with a phaser. |
ST Voyager is prestige level television compared to ST Discovery. I watched the first season of that for the first time a few months back (after pushing it back for years) and was so annoyed with it that I didn't bother to watch S2 (which I know has Spock and Pike). It actually had potential too if they didn't make some of the idiotic choices they made with the characters at the end of the season.
|
The fact that they abandoned the whole "scarcity of resources" subplot was the first thing that annoyed me about Voyager. Or second, the first thing was that they were more concerned about replicating a cup of coffee than having enough antimatter (I was 12 and had read the Star Trek TNG Technical Manual).

Season 2 of Discovery is tolerable because of Pike, Spock, Number One and the Enterprise. I've probably said this a dozen times. I'm totally looking forward to the new Pike-centered show. As for Discovery, I doubt if I'll even watch it, unless I hear really, really good things about it from people I trust first. It's amazing what an unlikable cast they've assembled. I don't care if any of them live or die, and in the case of Stamets, I'm actually rooting for death. Worst character in Star Trek history. He sucks so bad he makes Neelix look like Data.

This is one of those things on a streaming service that I'll never pay for.
But I guess I'm the only person who actually thinks this is a fun idea? |

It's not completely unique, but it's always good to pump for a few laughs here and there. And when they start plumbing the dynamic between the 'normies' and the 'heroes' of the traditional Star Trek stories for humor, there's gonna be some good stuff there. |

Perhaps the most important man in Starfleet History... Chief Miles O'Brien

So... I'm just gonna keep talking to myself in this thread.
This last episode was by far the best and the most "Trek" of the season so far. I can't believe that no one else is in this thread talking about this show. This feels like a show that could run for 4-5 seasons without getting stale. |

I might check it out. I love Star Trek and I love good funny cartoons as well.
|
Yeah, it's been way, way better than I expected, especially after the abortion that was Picard.

I suspect that we will, soon, be hearing voice acting work from Patrick Steward and several other legacy characters. Bonus... this might be an avenue for Brent Spiner to play B4/Data again (assuming they follow Canon set by the Countdown graphic novel). Quote:

Got caught up on this. It's not amazing, but it's not garbage, either. Entertaining enough to keep me coming back. I did chuckle at the line about how the Enterprise seemingly has something new going on each week, though. Nice touch.

The first actor from STTNG is set to reprise their role on LD.
