Mahomes gives “significant pledge” to Children’s Mercy

Per my friend who works as a tax director there. Didn’t request a press conf or press release from what he says. (A “pledge” is a promise to give obv, and as his contract money comes it over the years the pledge is paid down.)

eDave 07-09-2020 09:02 AM

There you are. Yo.

KCJake 07-09-2020 09:03 AM

How lucky did we get with this guy. Wow.

smithandrew051 07-09-2020 09:04 AM

Gotta love how he isn’t asking for recognition. What a guy. And he’s ours.

Mahomes makes me realize how my wife must feel to have me.

ToxSocks 07-09-2020 09:05 AM

/That's my QB meme

BigRedChief 07-09-2020 09:14 AM

I spent a year in residency at Mercy. They do God's work there. Everyone is there to help the kids and the families. Kids with cancer...... there shouldn't be such a thing.

I almost took a job at Mercy this fall but alas the family wasn't ready to move back to KC.

CaliforniaChief 07-09-2020 09:18 AM

Great job, kid.

You should see his resume. Seriously.

I remember Tiger Woods dad speaking of how Tiger was going to be so much more than a golfer; that he'd impact the world in meaningful ways. I don't know much of what Tiger has done but it looks like Patrick is on a fast trek to do exactly that. His parents deserve so much credit.

...and other charities hitting him up big time.

TwistedChief 07-09-2020 10:12 AM

He's donated a lot to Children's Mercy in the past that hasn't been reported in the press, for what it's worth. His charitable spirit didn't just come to him with his contract.

dlphg9 07-09-2020 10:32 AM

Dude I ****ing love Patrick Mahomes. The impact he's had on the community in such a short amount of time is unbelievable. To know he's here for a minimum of 12 more years is great. He is going to do a lot more for KC and is on the path to be not only a transcendent player, but also a transcendent person. How ****ing lucky are we to get this amazing person as QB?

Cheater5 07-09-2020 10:44 AM

Huh. How about that. I was born in Children's Mercy.

Good for them and well done Mr. Mahomes.

How amazing is this kid? So very proud of him, and so very lucky to have him as our QB. We're going to be absolutely spoiled the next decade+.

When I was there I saw every local celebrity and famous person in town for concerts, playing sports etc. came to visit the kids. I'd say on average, maybe 10% of those visits made it into the newspaper or TV. Most really were there for the kids. You cant help but be moved by those kids.

I did some training at a children’s hospital, I can be a tough place to work especially if you have kids , I respect the hell out of people who work there and celebs who spend their off time there as well giving money is easy but actually spending time there with the kids is an awesome thing to do.

How old was your mom when she had you? Or were you a high risk baby?

Pablo 07-09-2020 06:32 PM

Spent a few days at Mercy with my three year old last week. That place is amazing and we're very lucky to have it here in KC. Same for Pat.
