Vegas Weekend
Somehow my wife Ok'd me to "chaperone" her brother and a few of his friends in Vegas for his 21 bday.
Headed out there this weekend. Staying at the Bellagio, got a good deal on a room then got it upgraded to a suite somehow for like 20 extra bucks per night. Any recommendations on what or where to hit up? I've been a handful of times so I know a few places, just looking for any other ideas. Where is the best sports book for the Sunday games? |
Caesars Sportsbook is second to none, IMO.
Not a super exciting recommendation, but there’s an In-and-Out burger on the strip on the Linq Promenade now. Pretty good burger and a cheap lunch for Vegas standards. |
I've read Caesars is the best book. I walked thru it a few years ago but never stopped. Hopefully it goes well this weekend.

The bus tour is a decent thing to do its not all that expensive.

I go once a year during the football season with my brothers. We are going in two weeks because, you know, the Chiefs play the Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Vegas is a great town with a ton to offer. Its kind of important what you are in to. I love small concert venues. Last year we hit Jimmy Buffett (big concert) then the next night saw Willie Nelson and his family. Both were great. We are all in to sports gambling, so we hand out at the Sportbooks. My favorite is at the Cosmopolitan. Cool place. Well done, and free shit to do, shuffleboard, and whatever. If I'm going to gamble (table games), I hit the Cromwell. People watching is always fun. I enjoy buying beers off of some dude with a cooler in front of the Bellagio fountains for some reason. We hit Freemont street for a night in old Vegas, I kind of like the Gold Nugget casino. Vic & Anthony's is a good steak house. This year we watching the last games Sunday Night Football at Lagasse’s Stadium at The Palazzo. You need to call for a reservation. So each individual have a minimum to cover, ours is $125, but I can probably drink that or I'll order a nice steak. The stadium is full of TVs, you have a leather couch and all that shit. Last year I watched the game at some BS bar in the Planet Hollywood - not going to do that again. I'm a foodie (ie FAT). So Vegas is great for that. Grab a breakfast sandwich at Eggslut in the Cosmopolitan. I'm a Thomas Keller fan, so I always hit Bouchon at The Venetian (10th Floor) If I want to hit a buffet, I hit the Wynn on Friday or Saturday night when there is seafood. Or there is a Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab - northern part of the Strip. There are some good karting experiences we have done. We have also done a half day kayak trip from the Hoover Dam - really cool to see it from that perspective. The water is cold. This year we are doing Speed Vegas where you take an exotic car our on a road course. Let me know what you are into, and I can maybe make some other recommendations. We were just three 40 year old dudes so we don't do anything crazy. Great time of year to go out. |
Thanks Hoover
I already have reservations at Joes, lol, it’s my go to place for a steak They’ll wanna just gamble so they can hang wherever for that. I have heard good things about the Bouchon elk have to try that |

I like watching football at the MGM. Great spot. Also, hit up Ellis Island for late night drunk food. Their steak and eggs are $6.99, and they are actually pretty good.
Otherwise, I like playing poker at the Venetian or Bellagio. The Wynn has a topless pool with a 10 dollar blackjack table nearby. |
If you're going to vegas with a bunch of 21 year olds you might as well bring some sleeping pills to take the Tiger back home.

I’m to old for that shit |
We went to the Absinthe show last February. Can’t remember what casino it was at, but it might be Caesar’s. Best show I’ve ever seen while in Vegas. I was in awe the whole time. Some hot chicks as well

Things I don’t miss when I go to Vegas:
In n’ Out right by O’Shea’s (Linq) Hash House A Go Go in the Linq. Caesars has a sweet sports book. Bally’s in the basement isn’t a terrible alternative. Mechanical Horse races at The D downtown. Right next to the bar, one of the few very cheap places left to drink in all of Vegas Downtown itself has performers everywhere. Can’t carry an open container there anymore, though. |
YOU DON'T GO TO VEGAS TO EAT AT IN AND OUT!!! WTF IS WRONG WITH SOME OF YOU?

I'd throw out Top-Golf as well. The Water Show at the Wynn is cool, but I took my wife to it, not sure I'd do that on a guys trip. Am interested in finding more cool spots to watch the games at. Great thread! |
Sportsbook for 21st?...skip all that and take him to Spearmint Rhino.

We stayed at the Linq and thought it was great. Right in the middle of everything and great price. And Hash House was our go to for breakfast. I’m from Indiana and didn’t even know what In and Out burger was, guess I really missed out |

I find it amusing when beer pong players at O’Shea’s and Margaritaville pick the ball off the floor and chug beers that the nasty ****er has been thrown into.
10s of thousands of people walk on those floors every day..... |

Cesars is huge, and everyone is awesome when there are a ton of people watching a game. I don't know, huge isn't cool IMO. So I'm not really all that in to Cesars. I kind of like the book at Treasure Island better, just a smaller version. What I actually did one year was go over to the bar next to the craps tables they had three large screens, the crap tables had two, and we sat there and drank buckets of beers all day and they let us pick which games were on. A Caesars I'd rather hang at the bar outside of the sports book. Which is why I'm willing to try Lagasse’s Stadium. https://emerilsrestaurants.com/wp-co...05/Photo-1.jpg I still like the Cosmopolitan, and I typically hit on a parlay there! https://goodlifereport.com/wp-conten...mopolitan3.jpg And the Cromwell is just kind of cool to gamble in. https://www.lasvegasjaunt.com/wp-con...no-940x460.jpg And Giada De Laurentiis has a restaurant there. I'd probably go just in hopes to see her "goods" https://i.imgur.com/5FkloFY.jpg |

Where the Ceasars Palace Sportsbook is is a pretty cool location for partying but I like the Bellagio sportsbook better if you want a little focus as it's tucked into the corner by the poker room. |
Westgate is by far the most happening and most famous Sportsbook in Vegas. Huge party also inside the Theater at Westgate where all the games are on and theres drink specials, food specials, and lots of giveaways./ My radio station is there and we giveaway stuff too. Plus a betting station connected to the sportsbook is right outside the theater.
The Knights are also in town and thats a hockey experience like no other. Other than that, Downtown is cool for driks and food and a ton cheaper than the "Strip" Best steak for the buck is at Hugos Cellar at The 4 Queens and a place called Therapy DTLV has a steak encrusted in espresso beans and a huckleberry glaze that is TO DIE FOR. Pizza at Evel Pie is also killer, and overall the DTLV area is poppin BIGTIME If you need more info just ask. Ive lived here for almost 22 years. This ts a great city. |
This is gonna sound stupid (and kinda is) but Twin Peaks has these massive freezer mugs you can buy and get re-filled cheap. And since Vegas is the weirdest place on earth, you can just wander around town with them.
So we'd roll our asses out of bed and the first thing we'd do is go over to Twin Peaks to fill up our gigantic beers for half of what they cost anywhere else. And since they were those freezable kinds, the beer actually got a frost top and then stayed cold for an hour or so. If you're near that area, it's not a bad way to get a couple of cheaper beers in. And mother of ****, those girls are 'bout naked in there. The Twin Peaks in KC is pretty skanky and mediocre, but the girls at the one in Vegas are just rocking straight up G-Strings with their asses hanging out and most of them could use their bodies to pay their rent. Not 'vegas' by any means, but not a bad pitstop to fill your beers before doing other stuff. We go during March Madness and it's a pretty good place to just sit around, drink cheap beers, get some appetizers and watch a round of games before going to the sportsbooks. I'll also recommend Top Golf; that was a good time but nothing Vegas specific by any stretch. There's a place where you can get 8 dollar frozen mixed drinks out near the sportsbooks that will !@#$ you up quickly and again - much cheaper than anywhere else. Wish I could remember where it was but we passed by it a dozen times and it's not small; something of an outdoor kiosk with taps on either side of the bar. It's a little like Tropical Liquers in CoMo if you ever hit that up. Oh, and if you go to O'Shea's and play Beer Pong until 3 in the morning and then wander about the new strip for awhile, there's a magic Gyro stand that appears in between knock-off sunglasses stands. They have the best Gyro ever and canned soda that convinces you it's time to walk out to the Vegas sign. Sadly, it's magic and could never be relocated so I can't tell you where it is. But I assure you it appears and convinces you to eat delicious Greek food and then do stupid things when you're drunk and tired. |
Find a place for cheap ass prime rib dinners, take them to some brothels and let them ****ers get lit and gamble. Not a hard trip to do.

We figured the old downtown would have some cool 'old school' cheap prime rib kinda dinners - natch. Best we could find was a little diner that I vaguely recall was near the Golden Nugget (but it probably wasn't...) Freemont was probably my favorite part of the trip but we were there over March Madness and St. Pats so of course the place was absolutely nuts; 4 different concerts going at various locales - too awesome. Don't go to the steakhouse inside Circus Circus - that was highly recommended and disappointing as hell. Atmosphere was really neat, don't get me wrong, but I actually had to salt my damn steak to get some flavor out of it and it wasn't exactly tough, but it wasn't better than what I could get at Texas Roadhouse. All in all, a thoroughly average steak from a place that sure appeared to be coasting on reputation. |
I've rented a car the last couple times I've been out there, because it's cheap, and we typically want to do something non-strip oriented on Friday. Having a car can save you some coin on meals. For example we went to Red Rocks Casino for the breakfast buffet and bowled a few frames and it cost like 10 bucks.
This time we are doing Turo - got an X-5 that comes with VIP parking at all MGM properties. So we will probably use that. Plus I can get it at the airport and just leave it at the hotel since we are staying at an MGM property - Delano at Mandalay Bay. |

Hi Carlota! We'll be planning a trip out there next year once the schedule is released and we know when we play the Raiders. |
New O'Shea's sucks balls.
I miss the roulette and blackjack tables with the beer/barf stains all over em. |
If you are into Bourbon/Rye you should check out Herbs and Rye a little off strip, west on Sahara. Cool spot, good bourbon list and cocktails.

If you like Classic Rock, you should go see Raiding the Rock Vault at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

They have a Giordano's Pizza out there. Great for middle of the day munching.
Carnival Court at the Linq is a shitload of fun. The 21 yo's would love it. Everything else I would recommend has already been mentioned. Maybe take the young ins to Dick's Last Resort in Excalibur, that would be right up their alley. |
I won the most money at the poker tables at excalibur and Planet Hollywood had the best tournaments. The cigar bar at Mandalay Bay has a great view of the strip.
I stayed at the Vdara in between Aria and Cosmopolitan. I saw Marcus Allen at a Derek Jeter event at Aria. Cosmopolitan is the most over the top place I saw. I think the parking garage itself is made out of marble. Crazy. I didn't think it was worth the trip to the old downtown area myself but I did well at the Golden Nugget tables too. |
