Roughing the Brady

That's what it really came down too....the same call Mahomes didn't get extended their drive. We stopped them on 3rd down and it would have ended the game. But roughing the Brady was called. Even the announcers said it was bullshit.

Tnerped 01-20-2019 09:18 PM

Don’t worry. Sterratore covered for his guy like a good NFL lackey and said it was because the ref did t have a good angle on it.

Saints got ****ed way worse than we did. We still had a chance to shut it down and they decided to call Ford for lining up offsides. It was a heartbreaking loss. We had them stopped twice. Once the Refs bailed them out and once we ****ed ourselves.

Actually, I believe he said he shouldn't have thrown the flag because he didn't have the angle. Either way, Dee Ford making the most pop Warner league football mistake ever cost this team the game.

The line? Why bother.

Put your money on the yellow flag monkeys, the NFL way.

The league doesn't want a midwest team in the SB.

They want the east and west coast markets.

Funny I said the same thing before the game .

LA Big Market
NE Big Market
KC not so big
NO not so big

Funny how NO and KC both had their games won except the Refs....

Amnorix 01-20-2019 09:52 PM

It was bad call but the non-call on berry interfering with Gronk on a subsequent play kinda made up for it. Then the really obvious offensive PI on the long pass to the guy going down the left sidelines to set up the final KC touchdown...

MIFallout 01-20-2019 09:52 PM

Tom Brady is tied for the record for playoff wins at Arrowhead Stadium.

Bow down to the GOAT.

I mean it was pretty great when the Patriots had 3 questionable calls all go their way right after the Chiefs took the lead.

Do we really need to see it to justify our feelings?

Iowanian 01-20-2019 10:27 PM

It happened.

Pitt Gorilla 01-20-2019 10:35 PM

Would love to hear the official explanation. That goes well beyond a "mistake." A mistake is not seeing something and, therefore, not calling it. A mistake IS NOT not seeing something and assuming it must have happened. That's a complete fabrication. Not sure what leads one to call something like that.

I too thought the Berry thing was a make up non-call, but the truth of the matter is that the phantom call in Brady's favor gave the Patriots an extra possession, and that possession resulted in a touchdown. The Berry call was only one play during that free extra possession. So it didn't really even out, because the Patriots won as a result of that free drive.

Having said that, it was generally a well-called game. The phantom roughing was one blunder that happened at a generally benign point in the game, so it's unfortunate. I'm not going to blame the loss on that one bad call. It's just a bit frustrating that Mahomes took the same hit earlier and more blatantly, and it wasn't called.

How does it end the game? There were 7 minutes left. And it didn't extend the drive. It would've been 3rd and 7 without the phantom roughing. I'm sure that one was the one 3rd down and long the Chiefs were going to get a stop though...

Mecca 01-20-2019 10:47 PM

What extended the drive was them giving Hogan the benefit of the doubt and going with the call on the field yet somehow they overturned the Edelman play, it's like yea make up rules as you go.

Hogan's was overturned because it wasn't secured and then hit the ground. Edelman's was secured before and pinned throughout.

Literally said this when they ruled it a catch. You can't go with the ruling on the field and overturning a call with insufficient evidence on both.

petegz28 01-20-2019 10:56 PM

The play happened on 3rd down. If its not called, its 4th and 7. KC gets the ball. Not sure it would have ended the game. Now if Dee Ford would have not lined up offsides, the resulting Int does end it.

Yeah, at this point Brady and the Patriots are a negative force on ratings. This Stupor Bowl isn't going to excite anyone in the country. Even the few people who are legitimate Patriots fans don't really care any more.

Patriots, Rams, Maroon 5? I hope the stadium gets infested with AIDS locusts.

Chiefnj2 01-20-2019 11:26 PM

The Patriots were beatable, but not by a team that:

1. Was completely unprepared in the first half
2. Didn't gameplan to stop the run in the first half.
3. Missed a wide open receiver for a TD
4. Who has an OL couldn't protect
5. Whose "stud" Rushers couldn't get to the qb
6. Stud safety couldn't cover a broken TE
7. Top 2 receivers didn't have big games
8. HC who doesn't understand you can't give Brady the ball back
9. A rusher who doesn't know what the neutral zone is
10. Officiating that isn't going to give you a break
11. Special teams that commit penalties and don't know when to take a knee

Higgo43 01-20-2019 11:27 PM

Yeah, I don't know what happened in the first half. That was an abomination. It's weird that we get destroyed by the run and then suddenly put in our big line and have success. I wonder if there's a pattern there.

I think the bottom line, though, was that we played the Cheaters' game and didn't force them to play ours. If we had gotten an early lead and forced them to pass, it would've been a blowout. They're clearly not as talented a team. They just caught some ridiculously lucky breaks, which were exacerbated by our ineptness in the first half.

The Super Bowl is going to be a dud.
