Early AFCCG Forecast: High of 19°

According to the far out forecast, the high next Sunday is 19° and the low is around 13°.

Personally, I think this would be great. We know that Mahomes can sling it in those conditions, he proved it last year at Denver and today to some degree. Idk about Brady and Rivers though, as they are older and their arms aren’t quite what they used to be. Not saying they couldn’t throw it, but I think it could have a negative effect on them.

Thoughts?

Also, this from Pete Sweeney:
Quote:

Andy Reid said “two more” at the podium tonight. In five years covering Reid, I have never heard him talk like that. Always a game at a time. He believes.
Let’s roll!

This. I went to the Miami game years ago that was -5 with the wind chill. I can handle cold.

I want to see Brady/Phyllis freezing in pain as they have to get picked up off of the Arrowhead turf over and over again.

I honestly think either team goes down in a ball of fire next week. Chiefs are ****ing Superbowl bound!

Not to mention they just had a physical game with Ravens while Patriots had a bye week. Rather play a team that has had no rest, especially a warm weather team in the freezing cold. Chargers dodged the Sammy Watkins bullet last time at Arrowhead. They won't be so lucky this time.

Plus it's a short week for the Chargers/Patriots heading into Arrowhead. Extra day of rest for Chiefs.

JD10367 01-12-2019 09:27 PM

The Patriots are used to the weather. The Chargers are not. If the Patriots win this weekend, then the weather in Arrowhead is no advantage. If the Chargers win this weekend, then they show that the weather doesn't bother them, in which case the weather in Arrowhead is no advantage.

Both the Chargers and Patriots have shown they can score to keep up with the Chiefs. Next week will be a closer and tougher game than this week's game against the dome denizens. But if the Chiefs play defense (finally) the way they did today, I think they'll be in the Super Bowl.

RunKC 01-12-2019 09:27 PM

Weather is a high of 28 tomorrow in Foxborough area. I don’t see the Chargers winning there.

God it will be great breaking Brady next Sunday

The Chargers are so much better than the Patriots. Much more complete and balanced team.

I want the Patriots because I think they're an easier opponent and because there's so much poetry in planting them into the ground.

Tomorrow will be the first time I've rooted for the Patriots in a decade.

Our defense is much, much better at home. Remember what we did to Brady in 2014 at Arrowhead? Well, that's what's in store, weather or not. Please win tomorrow so this can become a reality.

chiefzilla1501 01-13-2019 11:58 AM

This is such a great feeling as a fan. I don't really care who wins today's game. The only team that can beat the Chiefs next week in arrowhead is the Chiefs. New England is better built for cold weather by experience but both teams qbs at their age are not ideal for the cold. It's a great advantage for us and I don't know how anyone can enjoy the stale dome experience over real football.

RINGLEADER 01-13-2019 11:59 AM

Personally? I love the cold.

I will say that in 95 and 97 it was that level of cold and it started to impact a lot of the crowd. During the 95 game people were being carried out of our section.

Of course we weren’t going for the Super Bowl and that’s pre-Mahomes and I’m sure our hearts will be much warmer than with Bono or Grbac as QB.

Blick 01-13-2019 12:44 PM

I'll take 0 degrees and dry over 30 degrees and wet. Dry is manageable. Wet and cold gets annoying over 3-4 hours. I was comfortable yesterday other than flakes and drizzle peppering my face repeatedly.

FringeNC 01-14-2019 08:42 AM

19 high with a low of 5 or something. So hard to know who it helps -- most thought the bad weather would help Indy. Ha ha. Generally, any type of bad weather PROBABLY helps them home team (as long as fans show up). Going on the road is hard already. Dealing with the elements makes it harder.

NE's ability to march down the field relies on perfect execution more than winning one on one matchups. Hopefully, the crowd noise and bitter cold will throw a wrench or two into the system.

You gotta believe a couple of hard hits on brady boy in those conditions will weaken his we suck will. He's trying hard to motivate himself now but once it sinks in he's an old man in the bitter cold taking bone crunching tackles he will probably be crying for mommy and her french kisses.

Reerun_KC 01-14-2019 08:54 AM

What ever weather that will cause old man Brady to crack. That’s the weather I want. Whatever keeps him from moving in the pocket, scrambling and eating up the secondary.

Friday night blizzard conditions, but hopefully not too much snow.

Saturday night we could drop below 0. Sunday high I would guess around 10-15 degrees, but dry.

O.city 01-14-2019 08:58 AM

I don't think cold is that much of a factor. Wind and precip is a bigger issue.

Now if it's like 5 degrees that would be an issue.

Weather.com shows 14 for a high and 8 for a low so.....

FringeNC 01-14-2019 09:09 AM

It's not as if either team has much experience playing in this. For all the playoff games that NE has played in, only one game will have been as cold. 2004 vs. Tennessee. This is pretty extreme stuff. Both teams are cold weather teams, but 10 degrees is lot different than 25. Weather WILL be a factor. I would be scared of the over.

LGOLED 01-14-2019 09:17 AM

Perfect weather for Tom Brady. He loves this stuff.

Mahomes, on the other hand, looked weak in cold weather against the Colts, and it will be significantly colder this Sunday.

ptlyon 01-14-2019 09:19 AM

Any bets that if the Chiefs win this Sunday, the narrative will be that the only way we got to the SB was because of the weather in these two games?
