Who’s the head coach who was a DC that’s worked with Reid?

Andy Reid on the hot seat if he loses on Sunday and slips to the 5th seed?

Jason Garrett is the opposite of "on the bubble." Fans might want him gone but Jerry Jones has a raging hard on for the guy.

Would like it to be so. But average true fan thinks Far Andy is the bestestests Eva.

jjchieffan 12-28-2018 11:43 PM

I find it crazy that Bowles and Wilkes are likely to be fired. I mean, I thought that when you start a rookie quarterback that expectations are pretty low anyway. Seems like a coach should get a second season with that quarterback to see what he can do. Changing coaches usually means a change in system, so that rookie quarterback has to start over. That crap happened to Alex Smith over and over. It wasn't until he came to KC that he had consistency. And low and behold he had the best years of his career in KC. The best quarterbacks have had consistency in their coaches. But, whatever. I would take either one of them to replace Sutton if they're fired.

Yep. Jason Garrett and Marvin Lewis have both been very mediocre yet continue to keep their jobs. Although, I would say that Garrett has done better this year, so I'll say that he's probably earned another year this time. But he's had plenty of years that he should have been gone.

At least Garret has 1 playoff win. Can you imagine being the Bengals and going to the playoffs 6 out of 7 years and not winning a single playoff game. I mean the Chiefs have been pretty bad in the post season, but damn the Bengals are absolutely pathetic.

There's a very real chance that Hue Jackson is the Bengals next coach. Mike Brown is a notoriously cheap POS. He can't die soon enough for Bengals fans.

jjchieffan 12-29-2018 12:12 AM

Doesn't sound like Lewis is on the hotseat at all. I just don't get it. Here's an article I found that says that the Bengals are going to let him stick around as long as he likes. 16 years, 7 playoff appearances, 0 wins, and a collapse this season filled with blowout losses. Coaches with much better records are fired every year.

The Cincinnati Bengals are giving Marvin Lewis the power to dictate the terms of his exit, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. As of now, the Bengals intend to let Lewis coach for as long as he wants.

Here’s what Schefter wrote about the situation:

If the Denver Broncos part ways with head coach Vance Joseph, he is expected to emerge as a candidate for the Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive coordinator job and potentially even their head coaching job when Marvin Lewis decides he has had enough of coaching, a league source tells ESPN.

The fact that the Bengals are setting themselves up with a plan of succession indicates that they’re preparing for Lewis to potentially retire in the near future. On the other hand, Lewis could decide to coach for five more years. And for now, the Bengals will honor that.

Considering the Bengals’ collapse this season (and in seasons past), it’s bizarre to see Cincinnati be so accommodating to a head coach who has zero postseason wins in seven appearances over 16 seasons. It would stand to reason Lewis would be on the hot seat heading into this postseason and into next season. That’s not what it sounds like.

Somehow, the Bengals are giving Lewis all the power.

Thats why bad teams are usually bad, they fire the head coach after their first year. What I dont get is what do these franchises expect with rookie starting qbs and these coaches have only had 1 season to get things into place. Id be pissed if I were these coaches, fans and players.

I would be shocked to see that. The Steelers have had less coaching changes than any team in the NFL in the Superbowl era. Do you realize that Tomlin is only their 3rd coach since 1969? That's job security. Most teams in the NFL have had 3 or more coaches in just the last 10 years.

Being stuck with an average coach and average QB is the worst thing in sports, it's purgatory. Would have been better if one or both of them completely sucked and they bottomed out already.

They must have pictures of Marvin Lewis doing really bad things. For him to even have the nerve show up another year.

No probably about it. It is well known in NFL circles that Zimmer is not fun to work with/for.

ong before Kirk Cousins became the highest-paid player in NFL history — he finally signed his long-anticipated three-year, $84 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday — he'd had his sights on a fully guaranteed package. ... Cousins will get a $3 million signing bonus and annual workout bonuses of $500,000.

28 million and misses the playoffs.

Fire Speilman too.

Zimmer is a major dickhead. Being the OC for that Offense was a thankless job this year, with that OL going from a strength to shit in one offseason.

We heard this last year with the Colts. Don't put your money on it until you see the press conference. It'd be hard to turn down coaching Rodgers though.

The rumors are pretty big that Marvin Lewis will step down and take a personnel role. Hue Jackson (LOLOLOLOL) will be head coach.

Mike brown is the worst owner in sports. Period. Let's play a fun "did you know." Did you know Mike brown used to use half the # of scouts as any other team? Did you know he has never hired a GM? That brown lost a lawsuit from cheerleaders for paying below minimum wage? Here's the best part... Tj Houshmandzadeh claims the Bengals were too cheap to buy extra jock straps and were the only team in the entire NFL who didn't put their players in a hotel for home games (TJ said... As you'd expect, players got ****ed up before home games.) maybe worst of all, Bengals players used to bring their own water and Gatorade. Seriously ****ed up.

Have always heard it was a cheap organization. Players got one jersey. Had to pay for more if it was ruined or gave it away. Sure-not a lot for millionaires but........Bengals.

Probably time to stop hiring coordinators whose only claim is being around a great QB. Gase, McCoy, Haley, Martz, McDaniels... everyone knows how it's gonna end with those clowns except the NFL I guess.

Surprised super cheap Mike Brown fired Marvin Lewis. He should have been fired years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Hue Jackson is given the job that would make perfect sense.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things doesn’t belong.

I didn’t realize Marvin Lewis had been in CIN for 16 years.
