***The Official Ben Neimann Thread***

At Iowa he was a hybrid LB. A three year starter at Iowa, he was a key component to the Hawkeye Defense. Played three downs and was even used as their nickel back at times.

Just sticking this here.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Von Miller paused as tried to pair the face with the name.
“Red Beard? You talking about Red Beard?” he asked the reporter.
“Yeah, yeah,” the reporter responded.

“Yeah, Red Beard,” Miller said, nodding. “He’s one of my favorite rookies, man. I just love the way he plays. He may be a rookie, but when you talk to him, it really doesn’t feel like he’s a rookie. When you see him play, it doesn’t look like he’s a rookie. He’s going to play in this league a long time. I just like his intensity. I like having conversations with him. He’s going to be great for us.”

Red Beard was born Josey Jewell. He’s a 23-year-old linebacker out of Iowa who returned to team drills Saturday after a brief hiatus to recover from a hamstring injury. The Broncos’ veterans know Jewell, if by a different name, because Jewell, like the rest of his rookie class, has earned their attention.

The kid impressed me. His stop on 4th and short was a thing of beauty.

KCrockaholic 08-09-2018 10:42 PM

Ben Niemann was with the 1st team defense when I went to camp August 1 fwiw. Really had me shocked. And tonight he wasn’t bad. He was in a spy during the scramble by Webb and he just flowed too far over. That one bothered me, but the stuff on 4th down was awesome.

KChiefs1 08-09-2018 10:48 PM

He’s officially on the team for me.
I want to see more of him.

JohnnyV13 08-09-2018 10:58 PM

I haven't been this impressed since I first laid eyes on the legendary Rich Scanlon...

Pablo 08-10-2018 07:54 AM

So good that even Iowa Tryhard fans can't get his name right. I'm looking forward to him contributing one or two more plays in preseason I guess.

I know 3 families and they all spell it different.

Iowa guys do well in the NFL. Very depressed that Denver got Jewell.

He should start next to Marshall.

I was pissed you guys drafted him, but Niemann will make the KC roster and play in subs.

Something something lunch pail

RealSNR 08-10-2018 08:27 AM

So everybody's jackin' it to the slow white LB comparisons and all, but you all shouldn't be surprised if he makes the 53. Remember that Toub mentioned him by name as guys who are standing out to him as special teamers.

KCUnited 08-10-2018 08:27 AM

Dude reminds me of Mike Catapano with a higher motor, bigger lunch pail and less aids.

If Zombo makes the roster this year, I'm going to mail my next bowel movement to Andy Reid's office.

And yes, I plan on eating at Taco Bell on roster cutdown day.

Mariota pancaking him is enough for me.

Brett Veach on Neimann making the team.

“You just couldn’t ignore the tape—I mean, that was it,” Veach said of the 23-year-old Niemann. “Actually, we had two teams that called us about Ben Niemann, and we knew that he wasn’t going to get through the waiver-wire claim, and we knew that he was not going to make it to the practice squad.

“In some of these trades that we didn’t do, the guy they wanted was Ben Niemann, so if there was any indecision, I think the dialogue we had with teams told us there’s no we can lose this guy because he’s done so much in such short amount of time.”
