Go on record with the 2018 QB prospects
We're a day away from the draft and we still don't know who is even going #1. This year's crop of QB's is clearly inferior to last year's crop. Thank GOD we got Mahomes when we did!
That being said, it's time to go on record with YOUR predictions on this class. Please rank using these 3 options; 1. Bust 2. Wins a playoff game 3. With his team 10 years from now. Here's mine: Josh Allen - (3) He's Carson Wentz' little brother. Big guy with a big arm that comes from a tough weather environment. Would be Cleveland's best pick IMO. IF they sit him a year like Mahomes, he could be Cleveland's savior. Josh Rosen - (2) Has the potential to be an Aaron Rodgers. Can come in right now and win. Has the brain of Aaron too. I see some team getting a gritty Kirk Cousins kinda guy. That said, he doesn't win a playoff game until his 2nd team. Baker Mayfield - (2) Depending on the team he goes to, can win a playoff game quickly in his career. I see Mahomes in this guy with a winner mentality. Problem is, these windows in the NFL are tighter than college. Seems like all of his highlights has no defenders within 5 yards. Sam Darnold - (1) Bust. I like the kid a lot and was even more impressed with his decision to not drink or do drugs early in life. He's driven and mature. That being said, I just have a gut feeling he's another Matt Leinert. Lamar Jackson - (1) Bust. This guy is even more of an enigma than Mayfield. Another love/hate kinda guy. I have friends that are Louisville fans and watched him quite a bit. I never saw this guy look at more than one receiver before taking off and running. That doesn't fly in the NFL. This and the 13 on the Wunderlic says he's another Vince Young. :) |
my actual ratings:
Josh allen: 1-bust. Not accurate enough Josh rosen: 2-if his head is on straight, he's got a chance to carve himself out a decent career baker mayfield-1.5- he's slightly better than bust, but he'll have an unremarkable to kyle-bollerish career sam darnold-2.5- he'll have a decent to great career lamar jackson-1.75- he'll have a great career at WR at the very least, maybe as much as a 2.25 as a randall cunningham-type qb |
Go on record with the 2018 QB prospects
Here's mine:
Josh Rosen - (2) Baker Mayfield - (2) Josh Allen - (1) Bust Sam Darnold - (1) Bust Lamar Jackson - (1) Bust That’s the order I’d rank them too. |
If Rosen stays healthy, he will be the best of this bunch by far. Darnold will be the next in the line of USC busts - too many turnovers and too few starts. The rest are meh.
|
I like Rosen the best.
Mayfield and Allen look like busts to me. Darnold could go either way. I hope Jackson is a stud. Doubtful. |
Josh Allen is a bust, Jake Locker v2.0
Jackson won't last at QB. He'll either switch to WR or be a career backup. |
Too early to say. Would need to see where they all land.
Whoever Buffalo takes probably has the worst chance, though. |
I'm predicting that whoever the Donks take will bust.
|
1. Rosen
2. Darnold 3. Mayfield (Probably a bust but in the right spot maybe not. Would want him to sit and be humbled) 4. Allen (Not a fan) 5. Jackson (unless he goes to a place like NE who will make it work at all costs) |
Rosen is Bradford
Darnold is Ryan Allen is Lynch Mayfield is Rivers |
I really do hope Lamar Jackson makes it, so a bunch of analysts have to eat shit. As long as its with not an AFC West team.

Jackson will be the best out of all of them.
|
Need to see where they land, but Rosen is easily the best talent, unfortunately he is a shit head who is made of glass.
Baker Mayfield is the most overrated. It’s not hard to look good with 1st rd caliber players and excellent coaching all around you. |
Quote:
Jackson is less accurate than Allen. |
Quote:
Rosen Darnold and Mayfield can all succeed in the right place but will most likely bust hard if they are put in the wrong spot. Mayfield may be able to overcome some stuff because that man hates losing but he needs to get the **** out of his own way before anything like that can happen. Jackson has a long way to go. |

Rosen is the only QB I would want if I was a team in need of a QB...
The rest are a steaming pile of meh |
With Andy Reid, Lamar Jackson would be my top choice if we were in the market this year.
I think Andy could make him elite. |

What?!? How on earth do you logically compare Baker Mayfield to Phillip Rivers? |
Why is Rosen such a shithead?
|
Quote:

Rosen is by far the best qb in this class

Pat Mahomes grew up the son of an MLB player. You think he didn't grow up entitled? |
Quote:
|
Darnold - career like Flaco
Rosen - will look amazing and then get hurt all the time Allen- Cutler/Jeff George Mayfield - Josh McCown |
I think they're all average at best. Mayfield may be good, though
Here's my 3 round Chiefs draft mock 54: Isaiah Oliver, CB, Colorado 78: Deshon Elliot, S, Texas 86: Dante Pettis, WR, Washington That gives us two new defensive backs, plus a slot receiver |
Rosen isn't entitled at all. If you're imagining Matt Leinart you need to think more Aaron Rodgers. He's arrogant and condescending but not smug and spoiled. There's a difference.

Accuracy is the dealbreaker for Allen. |
Quote:
It's just a matter of how much. Mahomes is cocky but he doesn't "rub people the wrong way" like Rosen does |
Rosen I think can be a top ten guy if he lands in the right place. I know you will all think I'm nuts, but I think Mayfield will be the franchise guy of the bunch IF he lands in a reasonable environment. I actually kind of want him to land in Denver because I love it when the Chiefs, Raiders, and Broncos are all competitive. Football is just more fun. So go ahead-call me an idiot, and then in three years, somebody come and look this post up. :)

Allen - bust
Rosen best of the bunch Darnold - good but not great Mayfield - bust |

Rosen: 3
Allen: 1 Mayfield: 2 Darnold: 2 Jackson: 1 |

Rosen is far and away the best.
Mayfield will be an average starter. Darnold will bust. Allen will bust. |

Which is good for a QB. I don't know, it's just a gut feeling that THAT kid has IT. |
What does this have to do with Mahomes?
Then why talk about it? |
Allen might do okay with the right coach.
If some chode like Vance Joseph takes him, then ****ing forget it. |
Darnold - is your blue collar over achiever in college but he will be Andy Dalton II
Allen - is a more athletic Paxton Lynch and will struggle with accuracy and the speed of the game not to mention reading defenses. He is probably the most raw out of all the QBs. Rosen - is too Cutlarian/Rob Johnson for me and has very little fire in the belly to win. His numbers never improved throughout his college career but oh he has such a natural easy throwing motion. Mayfield - could be the next Russell Wilson but I just don't think a team is going to spend a top 4 pick overall on a 6' QB. It has never happened. On top of running a high school spread offense where all the WRs are wide open and the fact he is self-promoting attention whore doesn't help him either. But it does seem he has a fire in the belly but do GMs trust that in the first 5 picks? Jackson - a taller thinner Vick that has accuracy issues as well. My prediction order for the QBs in this year's draft. Darnold will go first. Allen will go second. Rosen and Mayfield fall to some degree with Mayfield possibly falling to the 2nd just like Brees did because of height issues. Rosen will go mid-first to late first because of his "pretentiousness and concussion issues" and fire in the belly issues IMHO. Jackson will go in the 2nd and would probably go in the first IF he were open to being a WR. |

The Patriots will pick Mason Rudolph or Kyle Lauletta, and that guy will end up being the best QB in this draft.

Loving that no one used OP's dumb grading scale. Keep up the good work, gents!

Bust
|
1) Shit.
2) Garbage. 3) Trash. 4) Inferior. 6) Perfect for Denver. |

I had no idea you were friends with this guy and knew him personally. Interesting. |
I'm thinking that people are going to be scratching their heads in a few years about this draft class and wondering how everyone could have been so wrong. This group of quarterbacks is being overhyped as the best class since Elway, Marino, and Kelly. But I don't think that there will be a franchise quarterback in the bunch. I think that at least 2 of them will be total busts. I think that Darnold is another USC quarterback that looks better than he is because of all the talent around him. When was the last time a USC quarterback ever lived up to expectations? Mayfield may have the same issue. He's not going to have those wide open windows in the NFL. They said the same thing about Bradford, but his issue in the NFL ended up being hurt all the time. If he could have stayed healthy, he would have been fine. So maybe Mayfield has a chance. Allen will but. If you can't hit 60% in college, it's probably not getting any better in college. Rosen has the talent. But not too sure that the desire is there. If he grows up, he can be good. But he seems more likely to flake out than anything.
|
If my team were drafting a QB at top of the draft, there are three picks I’d be excited about in the following order:
1. Baker Mayfield 2. Sam Darnold 3. Josh Rosen |
