Hmmm surprised they didn't have Tobey Mcgwire. I thought he did a good job.

I like this kid as Spiderman.

Michael Keaton reprises his role as Birdman? Sounds awful...

ThaVirus 12-09-2016 10:42 AM

He's holding a ****ing cruise ship together. What a beast.

Spiderman has to be, by far, the worst super hero other than Antman.

It was a good movie and I liked the music. Not something that I would watch again though. It is a much funnier movie if you know someone in the theater business. My brother is.

Direckshun 12-09-2016 12:32 PM

Meh.

Deberg_1990 12-09-2016 04:03 PM

Looks good.

But does suffer a little from Spider-Man overexposure. 6th spidey film since 2002

DaneMcCloud 12-09-2016 07:29 PM

It looks like they finally got it right.

Tobey Maguire wasn't a believable Spider-man for me.

Rasputin 12-09-2016 07:38 PM

the "webbed" suit is kinda funny kinda cool kinda I like it kinda not sure if I like it though.

I want to see this more than the previous Spider-Man though.

I'm sure it will be good and full of action.

Buehler445 12-10-2016 12:48 PM

Looks decent. It will be interesting to see how it plays.

All the other established characters in the MCU have A LOT more depth than they are going to be able to do with Spiderman. They introduced Guardians successfully, but not many people knew about them. There isn't a lot that hasn't been covered with Spiderman on film. I'm guessing it will be a harder sell than a lot of the other MCU films.

As far as me, Marvel has earned enough credibility that I'll watch whatever they put out until they burn me.

ThaVirus 12-10-2016 01:57 PM

So has Marvel completely taking over or is this still Sony's thing with Marvel input?

I think Marvel took over creative input with the character and he's obviously part of the current MCU. But Sony gets to distribute instead of Disney

Yeah. From what I understood. Sony was OK. Help us make a great movie! In turn he can be in your universe. You get creative control, but we get most of the movie.

Spider-Man has always been my favorite, but I try to be honest when evaluating things (not that you don't, but I'm laying out my theoretical bias). It's just a trailer, and they'll probably get better as we get closer to the release date, but this was pretty bad. If I was basing my decision just on the trailer, I wouldn't go see the movie.

Gravedigger 03-29-2017 10:47 AM

I love that factor of it though, Tony taking the suit away from him to teach him to be better, so he uses his old suit to be better. It's a great line "If you're nothing without that suit then you shouldn't have it." Kind of ironic coming from Tony but yeah.

Agreed. I also liked the "I was just trying to be like you" I want you to be better" exchange.

I felt they revealed too much in this trailer, though. They could have left out Tony taking the suit back and showing Iron Man helping Spidey save the ship.

For whatever reason Holland reminded me of a young Michael J Fox.

He was great.

BigRichard 07-07-2017 07:54 AM

I am stoked to see this either tomorrow or Sunday.

sully1983 07-07-2017 05:32 PM

I went in with low expectations and came away loving this film! Such a massive improvement from those last three Spiderman films (Spiderman 3 with emo Maguire & those not so amazing spiderman films with Andrew Garfield) .

Holland is my favorite Spiderman so far and I loved the entire cast. His fat friend had a lot of the audience laughing throughout this ("I was ...looking at porn") lmao .

Great mixture of action and humor used right. That was my main complaints about GOTG Vol 2, Civil War and Age of Ultron . A lot of the humor / one liners fell flat through out , but not here in Spiderman. It all worked.

I didn't stay after the credits rolled though, so if anyone can fill me in on what it was all about , I 'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Silock 07-07-2017 11:26 PM

It was a good movie. I still liked Spiderman 2 over this one, but this one is top 3 easy. It's different, there were things I loved, things I liked, and a few things I griped about. Overall I'd see it again if a friend or family member wanted to go see it. Michael Keaton was pretty good as the Vulture, he actually made the villain believable which I always thought of the Vulture to not be considered a main villain. There's alot more humor than I expected, it's definitely the closest to Spiderman's jokes and quips in movie form. As I said, it's different, but in a good way, go see it.

Very fun flick. Definitely my favorite Spiderman movie. Also the end credits were cool as it has an actor of a show i like in it which sets up a sequel. Solid villian...and not much iron Man which was my fear that stark would hog the screen. Def going to purchase.

The only one I suppose I would gripe about is the suit that Tony Stark gave him. He's fifteen, this is his maturation story, and it's in essentially an Iron Man suit. Talk to the AI, you have 500 web shooter combinations including shock web, etc it just takes away from Peter Parker's genius to modifying and using his web shooters and relies too much on the suit. It just doesn't represent Spiderman in my opinion. As I said before this movie is a different take on the Spiderman world, and that's one facet that fell flat for me was the suit.

A smaller gripe which made me laugh but it's still lazy writing in my opinion is the ending before the credits.

Spoiler!

ThaVirus 07-10-2017 03:30 PM

I thought it was a good movie, nothing new, great or special about it. Just a solid flick.

I will say I liked Holland and Keaton's performances. Of all of Spider-Man's rogues, the Vulture has to be the worst. I mean, Spidey's rogues can rival Batman's. Venom, Carnage, Lizard, Scorpion, Rhino, Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Kingpin, Doc Ock, Kraven, Morbius.. and they go with Vulture.. and completely ****ing nailed it.

Regarding the Easter eggs:

Meh, you can do the same for any movie out there. It was still a really solid film and, at the time it was released, I'd say it was the best superhero movie of all time.

Adjusting for era and release date, I'd agree, though it's really tough to compare. I mean, what similarities do the CA: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers share aside from simply having superheroes in them?

I'd have to say The Dark Knight reigns supreme as the best superhero movie of all time. After that, it's really just a grab bag of great movies and really just depends on what style you prefer. Spider-Man 2, X2: X Men United, Blade, Iron Man, Avengers, CA: The Winter Soldier, CA: Civil War, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Rises, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy- you could take any random assortment of four of those to round out your top 5 and I'd make no argument.

CoMoChief 07-10-2017 09:23 PM

Only complaint I had, was I wish there was more of a feud between Spidey and Vulture.

Seemed like they had just a couple run-ins...and that was it.

Best Spiderman to date though....out bested the Doc Oc Spiderman 15yrs ago or so....(damn has it been that long?)

I've yet to sit down and watch the Andrew Garfield Spiderman...sounds like I shouldn't bother from what everyone has said.

ThaVirus 07-10-2017 11:18 PM

I think you should watch them yourself and form your own opinion.

I actually liked Garfield as Spider-Man, even though he was like 41. And the fight scenes in the Amazing Spider-Man flicks were pretty good. I thought they really did a good job of showing off Spidey's agility and unorthodox fighting style.

I liked both of the Amazing Spiderman movies. I thought Green Goblin was horribly done in the second one, even though the Gwen Stacy scene was done to near perfection. The Electro fight scenes were really well done imo, even though his lines were cringe inducing. I think the best part of those movies was the weight of death and his decisions. Marc Webb is really good at character drama and Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are great actors that pulled out really good performances given a weak script at times.

My biggest complaint about the Garfield Spidey is how they nailed the Gwen Stacy storyline. It's going to be hard for future adaptations to top it and I'm doubtful they'll even try

Why they decided to base the Garfield sequel off the Spidey 3 format is beyond me. ****in Sony.

ThaVirus 07-11-2017 10:12 AM

On an equal playing field, I totally disagree. This was much better, IMO. It's kind of apples and oranges, though, since Homecoming benefitted from almost a decade of world building.

If using the "for its time" qualifier, I totally agree. Spider-Man 2 was a game changer in a way I don't even think is really possible anymore.

Sure-Oz 07-11-2017 10:42 AM

Sony needs to keep partnering on Spiderman w/ marvel so it isn't ****ed up

JD10367 07-11-2017 02:53 PM

I thought it was okay. Not great, not horrible. Had a truer representation of Peter Parker, had the best level of humor and enjoyment in a Spidey film (sort of reminded me of rated-G "Deadpool"), but the plot was slooooooow and the villain weak. Still probably at the top of the Spidey film list but that's like being the smartest kid on the short bus.
