142.2 db
Way to go KC
Suck it Seattle |
WOOT! 142.2 db WOOT!
|
what was the old record?
|
137.6 was the last record from Seattle.
|
Sorry Chiefs fans. The record doesn't stand. Rob gronkowski recorded 145 of db.
|
For those who don't know, 142.2 to beat 137.6 might not look like much, but in the world of decibels which is a logarithmic scale, that is a jaw-droppingly enormous improvement over the old number, to the point where you are immediately skeptical and wonder if the machine is broken.
If we really did that, then Seattle is screwed unless their decibel-measuring device is also broken. |
My ears are ringing, sitting in the end zone

And then the ball is back in our court. And then back in Seattle's.....and so on until the sound record is 99999999.9 db |
What al said.
|
Just did some quick math. Unless I screwed it up, I think we were about 188% louder than Seattle. Not just double, but almost triple. Thats what those harmless-looking 4.6 points mean
edit: in case anyone is curious, here's what I calculated % louder than Seattle = (10^14.22) / (10^13.76) |
I know I said I didn't care before, but **** it! this city is ON FIRE right now!! KC fans deserve every ****in bit of this! Get the record, get the win, Royals get the win tomorrow. MAKE THE CITY PROUD!
|
I just can't bring myself to care. Sorry.

I'm not too keen on this back-and-forth with the sound record, but Seattle fans are the biggest douchebags in the league. They can suck a fat one.

That's huge--like a couple 747s landed on the field while they were taking the measurement... |
The sound is literally hurting my teeth.
|
They must be doing something different with the mics.
That is a huge jump. |

From reading a seahawks forum. I really dislike them now. Wow what a smug fanbase, they are literally became denver fans in like two years without the history. I hope some tragic things start to happen to that team.
|
Sucks for Seattle. Crowd was awesome tonight though!
|
That really is a huge jump. I'm sure Seattle will beat it some time. ****in hosers.
|
Hey, Seahawks, we've been doing it since 1972, good or bad. You've been doing it since 2012. You fair weather fan base mother ****ers.
|
I'm not sure, but the weather seemed perfect for sound.
It was slightly humid, and it was night time. Seattle beat us during a night game, and in the night sound travels further, at least with AM radio it does... so, it seems logical that the loud sounds resonate better at night. I'm no "soundologist", though. :-P It was REALLY ****ING LOUD... and my son and I had a blast. Great memory with my 12 year old... another great memory tomorrow night. :-) |
Their stadium is ****ing cheating ass horse shit anyways

I think Guinness is just bullshitting this thing every time.

Who fu@king cares?
The win is far better than this gimmick |

What is important is beating the Niners. I live in Nor Cal, so this shit would be sweeet. |

Why arent other tean like Denver and GB jumping in the fray? Most likely because it means nothing. Like a dog chasing its tail.
|
I'm no expert (I defer to whoever that is here) but my layman's reading of how decibels work - we would have had to basically double the level of noise from our last record to get to 140db and then double that again to get to 143db?
If that is the case then it is impossible to believe it happened. |
Congrats on the well played game tonight, the Chiefs looked good!
Congrats on the Guinness deal too I guess. Hopefully this nonsense Guinness stuff will end. I personally think it's stupid. |

How long before Seattle breaks it again?
|
The NFL's marketing department will keep milking this until it becomes a cartoon. They'll be announcing that Tampa Bay has reached 800 decibels after another 50 iterations.
|
I've been going to the games for 24 years now and that was the loudest I've ever heard it. There was not an empty seat in the house, very little humidity to dampen the noise and no wind. Perfect conditions. I was at the Oakland game last year when we set the record and tonight was far louder.

The fans will get so loud, the shock waves will decimate opposing offenses. |
apparently they believe there was a 3 2 1 countdown at the stadium where everyone screamed at once.

We should invite these dudes out for every game. We've raped both times they've been here.

Kind of weird this is where we are now when considering when I was growing up they had penalties for crowd noise.

Seattle will not beat it.

The last time Seattle broke our record, they had a special before the game with some scientist explaining that even though Arrowhead had an extra 10k seats, it doesn't make much of a difference considering that way that the Seattle stadium was designed.
That the 10k plus seats pretty much just makes it somewhat even. There was some mathematical equations behind his theory. They might be online somewhere. |
It got loud last night. Have still been to louder games, namely the last 2 MNF games.

Congrats on setting the record! That was impressive!

Hello All,
Congrats on the record. Well done and way to beat the crap out of T Brady and his crap team. We started that record just for fun, and somehow it turned into a pissing match that we just don't give a crap about. It looks like it means a lot to you all, so congrats, you got the record, I don't see us trying to reclaim it. We know where the hardest stadium to play is, and besides, have you registered a 2.0 magnitude earthquake? WE have :) Hey, beat the douchebag and the rest of his douchy team, thanx! |
I thought this thread was about a 142 pound defensive back. Kinda disappointed, but the record is cool though.

Personally, this record is lame but Arrowhead has always been the loudest and one of the toughest places to play. Seattle will win it back when they play the cowboys in week 6. The whole thing is just a PR stunt by the NFL and Guinness. |

I don't think KC has one in the area. Maybe at KU. |
and I don't think it's all that uncommon for a stadium to register.
I think LSU stadium does this one a somewhat normal basis. |

And it's a tad hypocritical for either of our fan bases to comment on how "wrapped up in this" the other fan base is. We're both invested. And both have elements that care a lot, and elements that don't. Quote:
Congrats again on winning the record. Someone may try to break it, but I kinda hope we don't. Seattle has been the world record holder twice, and I'm fine with that. I can still be proud of our loud crowd and home field advantage without the Guinness title. |

Oh, and congratulations on the win also! That was impressive too.

The stadium itself was built on a very small parcel of land and by those restraints had to be built up, not out and the noise it produces, was not by design, but rather a by chance. about the land the stadium was set on, is the smallest in the NFL. I don't care about the record, I just couldn't believe some of the responses I've read in our forum and here. I just had to express my drivel LOL. |
Arrowhead gets its extra noisemaking ability from the parabolic curvature. Just like the back window in my '78 Camaro used to make any pair of 6x9 speakers sound like a sub woofer.
