Pretty nice choice for a few items.

I've purchased from them 2006ish. They have some pretty cool things, I think I prefer them to Brookstone for gift-like purchases.

How about you all - ever bought from them?

Skymall

Brookstone

Rasputin 10-12-2013 07:23 AM

I never have & not even sure I know what Skymall is? Is it buying stuff off the interweb?

KCUnited 10-12-2013 07:24 AM

On flights, I go through Skymall and pick out one thing from each page I want the most like an xmas catalog back in the day.

Never pulled the trigger on anything though.

yeah. They offer the catalog selling to folks in the sky. However now (of course) they have a website.

BlackHelicopters 10-12-2013 07:25 AM

Have browsed the magazine only.

CoMoChief 10-12-2013 07:26 AM

That shit is expensive. makes for nice reading material on the flight. I get bummed if my seat pouch in front of me doesn't have one.

Rasputin 10-12-2013 07:27 AM

Heh the beard hat you could go as McGrath on Halloween for $19.95

warpaint* 10-12-2013 07:28 AM

No. Overpriced crap no one needs.

I've flown over a million miles in life and read those things thousands of times without ever buying anything. I've always saw items in there I thought I might buy but never did. Not sure why.
They do have some interesting items but also a whole lot of stupid expensive nonsense.

This.

But I would never actually buy anything from there. It's all way overpriced.

Some of the stuff in there makes me laugh though.

I have a co-worker that would buy stuff from there all the time. He'd order something new on pretty much every business trip we took. He had lots of money though - he's a retired Colonel on top of the triple digit salary.

Saulbadguy 10-12-2013 08:00 AM

Almost exclusively.

You'll be a real hit if you ever have kids some day. "Hey SImply Reddish, sorry I missed your birthday. Guess what though...Daddy got you a present from SkyMall that should be coming in the mail. It's an NFL Wine Shoe Holder*! I know we live in Atlanta, and you're a Falcons fan, but...."

I bet you buy your Mom things from the Duty-Free shops as well.

*actual shit from SkyMall
http://www.skymall.com/nfl-wine-shoe...d=new-arrivals
(and no, they don't have the Falcons; yes, they have the Chiefs)

Actually, that might be the perfect present for Simply Red given all his clothes threads.

No wonder he buys from SkyMall. He is their target demographic.

You don't have someone wear this monstrosity, you put wine bottles in it.

Lol people actually buy things from skymall? I just browse the magazine to see what new ridiculous thing they'll come up with next.

I was a huge fan of those Ionic Breeze air filters when they still made them. I bought 4 of them. Three in the house, one in my office.

So this is basically Sharper Image for airplanes, right?

very much the same thing - as is Brookstone.

Frazod 10-12-2013 12:00 PM

They used to have a store where I live - I enjoyed browsing all their cool shit that nobody needs. But I never bought anything. Apparently nobody else did either, since they've been closed for a long time.

I bought rubber stair mats for grip.

I bought a remote control helicopter.

Aside from that, that's all. I am going to macy's soon though. I know that's shocking to everybody.

Truly - I go to Neiman Marcus Last Call two or three times per year. I prefer Nordstrom if it's a 'serious business' shopping trip, planned. Lately I just pick stuff off of Ebay, I landed a sweet Fred Perry track jacket that's navy in color. Like $38 or so. It's a $250 coat, generally.

If I forget to bring something paper to read between takeoff and use of electronics, I usually go for the airline magazine first to flip through then on to skymall. Having to read those usually reminds me to grab a WSJ or other paper from the hotel for the way back.
