*****THE OFFICIAL CIGAR THREAD*****
About the only cigars I have ever tied into, other than a few Cuban Cohiba's before a few years ago, were nasty stock. I started flying to Belize every year on vacation and while I was there, I started trying several different varieties and was pleasantly surprised. At this point I have two humidors and several different selections. I still don't smoke that many, but I break one out on Friday nights, or when the boys are over for a beer. Are any of you guys into cigars?

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of cigars. Some of my favorites right now are the Partagas Cifuentes, Diesel, and Padilla 1932s.

Padron box press 1964 Series Torpedo's.
Partagas Serie D No. 4, Havana. Those are my go-to cigars.... |
I've mentioned them before, but IMO, you absolutely cannot go wrong with a good ol' Rocky Patel 1990.
1992 is quite alright as well. |

Also, I like Gurkhas and Perdoma Lot 23. |

BTW, I order mine from http://www.thompsoncigar.com/home.jsp

Thanks, man. I still have a few of the junior RPs in my humidor. Each pack comes with two 1990s, two 1992s, and 2 sun grown. All are great and nice for when you don't have time for a full size stick. |
I've always enjoyed a Macanudo, but I have no claims to cigar knowledge.
|
I used to be into cigars.
Sadly, they started triggering a migraine problem I thought I had beat. So I had to give them up. Shame too, because I have a beautiful cherry wood humidor sitting empty. The last cigar I smoked was this: http://thecigarjournal.com/img/image_13.jpg Kuba Kuba by Acid. |
My bud brought some Acid cigars with us to Key West last year. That was the one and only time I have had them. But I remember them being quite good.

The best bang for the buck are Consuegra's sold by JR's.
They are Villiazon factory seconds and for the price and value they can not be beat. The 9's are a good 45 min smoke, Villizon makes ERDM, Punch, Belinda, and JR Ultimates. I like the maduro the best with some Crown. |
Smoking Cigars, Gheyest activity in the world. That pretty much sums it up.

when i get w/my brother, he usually kicks out some cigars. other than that, i bought some cohiba's in cancun last may. i chewed most of them before coming back to the states because i ran out of copenhagen.
broke out the last of them down on the river last week. not too bad. sec |
I used to enjoy a good cigar every now and again. I gave it up, (too expensive).
Especially since I was a little brand loyal to Rocky Patel's and CAO Double Maduro's. |

Raiderhader. It would seem voicing my disdain for the sport of soccer was the equivilant of pissing in his Cheerios. I haven't had a good cigar in a while, I'm due. Might have to pick a San Cristbol tomorrow when I get into town. |
So what's the point of a cigar? Do you get high? Relaxed? Feel good? If I remember correctly, you're not supposed to inhale the smoke, like in a cigarette.
|
Quote:
It's about the flavor and aroma. Which I suppose can be relaxing if you are really enjoying it... |
I loves me some cigars, though my tastes aren't refined enough to consider myself an aficionado. I enjoy smoking on the golf course, and will break out a stick on a nice summer day. Can't really say I have a favorite, but I like Rocky Patel, Arturo Fuente, Indian Tabac, Ghurka, 5 Vegas, CAO, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. I like Drew Estate for the golf course - inexpensive, tasty, and easy to smoke...

So I tried an Acid yesterday, went with the Kuba Maduro. Will NOT being wasting my money on that crap again. I swear they must saturate the wrapper in sugar. Not what I'm looking for in a cigar. |

One holds 200, the other is a "humidor chest," or foot locker that holds around 450. The 200 is full and the 450 still has a lot of room. Around 125 in it right now I would guess. I did however get in 30 Padilla Habano 2nds Torpedo's today to fill a little room. Best cigar I have had to date. https://www.cigarsinternational.com/ |

And Padilla Habano is the best you've ever had? I'm going to have to try that one for sure. |

My bro used to buy several different brands from the Thomson Cigar Co .. out of Florida .. they usually had a monthly special that was decent in price and taste ...

Well if anyone cared to know my opinion on the subject I'd have to sayTampa Gold.
They're made 92 year old gentleman from I think St. Pete twho was taught by his Cuban father who had made them by trade. He supposedly has no protégé, no student or children. He doesn't make them for the money, and his prices are never affected by tax hikes or inflation if you know what I mean cost remaining about $60 for a bakers dozen. Cigar room, Venice, FL (941) 485-0837 |
aside from how similar looking they are to actual sticks, why are they called sticks?
|
Quote:
I'm new to cigar smoking. I've traveled through the Caribbean and done the when in Rome thing with Cubans, but never really knew what I was doing or appreciated what I was smoking. Been buying some sticks lately and enjoying them. Some I've had that I've enjoyed are: Rocky Patel: '92 and the Decade ('90 is next on my list) Acid: Blondie (good starter cigar and hot weather smoke) For the fights tonight I've got an Arturo Fuente Cuban Belisco which I've enjoyed a couple of weekends ago. I like a good 30-45 minute smoke that doesn't overpower me and comes in under $10. I'd take some publication recommendations if anyone has any. I don't have a humidor so I'm a one at a time purchaser |
Just recently got into cigars, ordered a sample pack from BestCigarPrices.com and went through all 5 already. They were all supposedly some of the top rated cigars and all were decent enough but none were sweet on the lips like I had at a poker game a couple years ago that I thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately the person who gave it to me passed a while back and I never thought to ask him what kind it was.
Any recommendations for a sweet, mild cigar? Nothing from a gas station please. |
Just ordered a 5 pack.
https://www.thompsoncigar.com/p/drew...-cigars/67167/ I'm good for the year as it's only a special occasion. |

Don't know how I missed this thread.
I am an avid cigar smoker for 41 years. First ones I smoked were Te Amos and Macanudos. Now I have a 250 Newair electric cigar humidor, a 25 cedar lined humidor and smoke a lot of top notch stogies. I was in Cuba in March/April 2000 and smoked an H. Upmann, a Partagas and a Romeo and Julieta while there. Toured both the H.Upmann and Partagas factories in Havana. I also smoked Cuban's during the year I liveed in Toronto. Right now I am firing up a La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor. The brand pre-embargo was one of Winston Churchill's favorite brands. It's a great cigar. My current inventory is attached along with my 2 Humidors and tonight's cigar. |

Me smoking cigars back in the late 80's.
First photo was me in a house I bought with a buddy that we remodeled and turned into a crazy high end bachelor pad. Wild and fun times. Taken in 1989 I'm smoking a Te Amo Maduro The second is me in the Cayman Islands with an early love of my life. She was the photographer. Taken in 1987 Im smoking a Cuban Punch |

I'll go on my porch as early as 5:30 am and start firing up my cigars with a cup of coffee. I can smoke as many as 5 in about 6 hours.
Always top shelf stuff - I'm a spoiled SOB |

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No. 2 Oliva Serie V Melanio EP Carrillo Pledge Padron 1964 Anniversary Padron 1926 Anniversary (for real special occasions) I like all the Carrillo, AJ Fernandez and Alec Bradley stuff. I think they're very good values. I like several Rocky Patel lines. And I'm always up to trying new things. I did a cigar run last Sunday and bought 5 sticks that I don't believe I've had before. One I haven't smoked yet is a La Gloria Cubana Society that looks impressive. |
Haven't splurged on the Padrons yet, but I like everything else you mentioned. Have you tried the Olivia Master Blends 3? I like it a little more than the Melanio. When CigarPage has their 5 pack specials you can get both for $4 a stick.

I got it for $80, put them in the bottom of my humidor. I LOVE THEM. I rue the day when that stash runs out. Still have seven left. |
I just had a very nice Padron in Atlanta at a nice cigar bar at the Battery. The cigar was awesome and the cigar bar was perfect.
Short notice trip as I would have asked SR to join us. |

I don't order them since they are so pricey. I buy singles at a high end cigar store in Paradise Valley. I like the 1964 Series Natural #9 |

All the smokes we list cost at least $5 each in a sampler to $25 a stick. I would never smoke flavor infused cigars. If that's your tastes, light em up and enjoy. |

I'll smoke a Fuente from time to time. Last 5 pack I had of La Gloria Cubana tasted horrible, really bitter. About 5-6 months ago. I had them years ago and were good so I was shocked. |
I smoke PG aged cigars. (Paul Garmarian) Been a loyal smoker for close to 30 years.
They can only be purchased at select retailers. Rolled by Davidoff. Has anyone else smoked them? |
I used to enjoy the occasional cigar back in the day. I still wouldn't mind having one every now and then, but I was a smoker for 40 years and finally kicked the habit 5 years ago. I'm worried that if I were to have one, it may lead me back to smoking, so I just stay away.
