I Need A New Keyboard
My other one is a pile of shit. I want to get a new one before Diablo 3 comes out.
Any suggestions? |
How much are you looking to spend?

haha homie you need one with lights. i would suggest a mechanical keyboard.
mechanical keyboard have different kinda switches that come down to personal taste. if you like a set type of switches then pick the board that has them there is alot of option right now. alot of companys are now making them. corsair, coolermaster an a few other companys so look around http://www.deckkeyboards.com/ http://www.daskeyboard.com/ http://elitekeyboards.com/ http://usa.ttesports.com/Category_Keyboard.aspx or you can always get the one i have the http://store.razerzone.com/store/raz...oryId.35156900 the ultimate black widow. the problem is alot of people have bad luck with razer seems very hit ot miss. if you get a good one things are great. but seems alot of defective ones get out to market |

if you try to be the best at something even the smallest differences have a huge effect. honestly in a game like d3 it won't matter as this is a mouse clicking game mostly. but in other games it can make a huge difference. |

Upper end gaming boards have LCDs that display system information, in-game stats, VOIP info, system performance and FPS. |

I have a Saitek Cyborg hooked up to my gaming rig. If it ever craps out I will replace it with another Saitek.

this man did a good job explaining alot of them. low latency and fast response is a big issue.some games take alot of apm . like starcraft2 for example. it seems meaningless but delays add up. ever notice you type a keyboard an it misses key strokes because your typing to fast? that missed keystoke could mean you didn't build your next fighter like you thought an now will be behind in numbers. fps really get alot oif help from keyboards also. now granted to the causal player it might never matter. but if you are trying to be one of the best it really makes a a big difference. as even the smallest mistakes is the difference between winning an losing |

this is not a very good company. they are said to of made some big improvements over the last few years. madcatz is known for making cheap controllers an such. they never lasted long an was always aimed at low end. a few years back they started adding higher end products like there flight sticks an now the rat mice. maybe they are great now but with there bad history it takes some time to rebuild your name. with that said i think i will order there rat 7 mouse today to test it out. but i really would not put much trust into this company. |

I'll look into any recommendations you guys suggest. I'm at work right now, so i'll have to check it out when i get home again. Got some shit to do yet today.

Steel Series is also getting a lot of great reviews from gamers -- tons of guys over at NeoGaf constantly sing praises of this company:

... a little help here ...
I have a Lo_itech K800 (brand new) that I hate. In fact, the "G" key is screwed up (and I rarely use the letter "G" except during emer_encies). I need a new, _ood keyboard and I've been searching with little or no positive results. But first, please allow me to tell you a little bit about how I use my keyboard. 1. I use Avid Pro Tools (for those unfamiliar, it's a recordin_/mixin_ software). Er_o, I need the number pad section. 2. I type on ChiefsPlanet. 3. I also type other stuff (and quite a bit of it). 4. I'm lookin_ for a wireless keyboard (preferably, anyhow). 5. Price is not an obstacle. I've been told that "mechanical" keyboards are nice. People tell me that the tactile experience is superior (I wouldn't know since I've never had one). However, I am not a "_amer" and all the mechanical ones I've seen online appear to be desi_ned for playing _ames, it appears. Any advice would be _reatly appreciated. FAX THE FRUSTRATED |

It is small and doesn’t take up a ton of space. Works well. Good feel. I run a bunch of numbers and sign off on the 10 key. I should note I have a surface pro tablet I bought it for and the Bluetooth nukes my wifi because they both run on 2.4 GHz. Sounds like 5GHz WiFi will fix that. EDIT forgot the link. https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-EKZ...1PA4BM80CQWCX2 |
I don't think bluetooth will work (probably should have mentioned that), Mr. Buehler445 ... on account of the wifi issue you mention.
But I _reatly appreciate your help, man. I had no idea that findin_ a keyboard could be so damn difficult. FAX |
Is it a problem if I were to just purchase a nice _aming keyboard? I mean, are they so different that non-_amer applications wouldn't work well or somethin_?
This is very confusin_. FAX |

I have the precursor to this mechanical keyboard. It isn't wireless, but I like it. I have the brown key version (which is less noisy than the blue). Mine only has one backlight color (blue). I'm not sure if this one is always multicolored or if it can be color selected. The backlighting can be dimmed or turned off if you don't want it. http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keybo...-keyboard.html http://d2fu7qgd3tdbcc.cloudfront.net...g?t=1473639180 |

I actually think a gaming keyboard would be more comfortable and durable
|
The term "gaming" gets thrown around these days when in reality the product has nothing to do with gaming. It's simply marketing bullshit to tack on a few extra bucks.
I bought a Corsair Strafe "Gaming" Keyboard a couple years ago when it was on sale because the sale made it at least $20 cheaper than any other backlit mechanical keyboard I saw. What is "gaming" about it? Not a ****ing thing. I guess if you want it came with different colored W, A, S, D keys so there you go... gaming! |
I can't vouch for this product but it has solid reviews and for $45 you get mechanical brown switches (but from what I read these switches compare more closely to a Cherry MX Red switch which have no tactile feedback), backlighting, and its wireless.

Thank you, my friends.
I think my "finding a keyboard" problem has been the particular set of "wants" rather than absolute "needs". For whatever reason, the combination of mechanical, non-bluetooth wireless, and number pad has revealed a niche market for which there is practically no available product. So, I say we build one. Until then, however, I'm going to order the Max Keyboard Nighthawk Pro X suggested by Mr. patteeu (thank you, sir). I shall forego wireless technology, but I shall own the keyboard with the coolest name EVAH. Perhaps someday they will invent a wireless converter or something. Or maybe if someone eventually invents the perfect keyboard for moi, I'll give this one to the beautiful and witty Mrs. FAX to commemorate some very special future day. Keyboards make a very thoughtful gift. Thanks again, everyone. Most helpful. And appreciated. (BTW, there was a molecule of rice krispy under the "g" key. Thank heavens that's over.) FAX |

FWIW I think most mechanical keyboards are for gaming. And I think gamers want wired for improved response time. I think. I’m a million miles from the target market but I think that’s the case. Or I could be all the way wrong. |

I've been using this keyboard for the past year, and I've been very impressed with it. It's not a mechanical keyboard, but it feels very close, and I've been incredibly impressed with it. It's very heavy and doesn't move at all. Keys feel very crisp, without the noisy clack clack of true mechanical switches. Cheap, but great performance.
