Why does everybody hate Nickelback?
They're after my time, and as far as I know I've only ever heard one of their songs. Which is frankly kind of catchy.
But comparing any disliked band to Nickelback seems to be the ultimate musical insult, and any time they are mentioned people seem to pile on like the crowd that wanted to burn the witch in Holy Grail. What did they do? Does everybody hate their music that much? Are they dicks to their fans? I need somebody not musically stuck in the decade between '75 and '85 to enlighten me. |
Chad Kroeger sounds like a butt
Among other things (general mediocrity, brain dead lyrics, samey sounding songs) I mean I think they get a litte too much hype as the “worst band ever”, but I definitely would say that they aren’t good overall. If I squint my ears I could get why some people enjoy them, even if I don’t, though, which is more than I can say for other acts |
They're garbage, but I think the real band to be ridiculed from the same era should be Creed.
|
Because of lyrics like this:
“Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack wound up with a broken neck. Humpty Dumpty, do your thing, Daddy’s gonna buy you a diamond ring” |

They just got overplayed on the radio and for many people their songs are cliched. For me five finger death punch is the ultimate wannabe tough guy douche rock. If anyone complains kick him out of your car like the cab driver in the Big Lebowski.
|
They were an incredible insult to grunge music. Comparing them to nirvana is like comparing whitesnake to led zeppelin.
|
All the hot chicks are at Nickleback concerts.
|
Nickelback, Hinder, Seether are all the same. They all have the same sound for all their songs and are all trash.
|
I get the sameness and cliche criticisms, but I've heard a lot worse music than Nickelback. They're not my thing, but they are catchy. Tool's popularity confuses me though.
|
Meh, people are ****ed up. They're fine.

I heard that band the first time and was like....uhhhhh....then before I could even finish my thought, it seemed they were the next thing. They’re terrible |
I don’t even hate NB. Though, I enjoy the jokes. I don’t crave ickelback music, but I don’t mind it if it comes on. Sounds good mix wise

Five Finger Death punch is the current standard for horrific music. They decided that they could out do Nicleback and attacked suckitude with a vengeance. |

I've only heard four songs by them that I know of but could name a lot of pop, rap, country artists that are a lot worse IMO. |

After trying to listen to that 50 Cent dude's "Many Men" rant in another thread, nobody should ever complain about Nickelback.

I couldn't give less of a shit about Nickelback, of course my choices in music have nothing to do with whats popular/unpopular.

It wasn't all bad. There's a few songs I actually like... |
I've liked a handful of their songs. Far Away, How You Remind Me, Photograph, and Savin' Me.
Savin' Me actually has a really cool concept for its music video. |

I dont really even like them much - but its quite amusing how they are ridiculed for no reason other than cultlike fickle thinking. |

Do you disapprove of my musical taste? Well.... good. |
i dunno it was like creed and nickleback were still being played when videos were on MTV and Buzzworthy songs would be like Tribe Called quest/Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Jurassic 5/Stone Temple Pilots/tool it would be fresh. Then the soundtracks the songs at the mall all that shit started to be creed/nickleback/uncle kracker and it got under peoples skin but there was no twitter. So the shit was stewing for awhile and then when the hate exploded everyone with a twinge of hate for butt rock just stewed shit at them. I like a couple nickleback songs that are just hard fast just dumb rock music the ballads are garbage. Also Chad married Avril Lavine? Or whoever and she was the poser of poserish alt trash poser child ever. A cartoon of what the ALT LEFT ANGST was supposed to be at that time. The whole thing was a mess. Nickleback still makes a shit ton of money I bet though.
|
I worked at blockbuster for 5 years and we had trailor tapes that we played over and over and over again and there were probably 5 or 6 nickeback creed terrible songs, but the worst was for spiderman two Chad Kroger and Joey Scott from Saliva. Good God. Terrible. I don't know how but I think Seether is above some other butt rock.

I'm baffled by this take. |
Nickleback is not good. Over-commercialized, hyper-produced pop rock; however, they did put out a decent album called The State, which has a few tracks that are simple and catchy. I submit:

I don't hate them. I'm just not interested in them.
But they are out there doing it man. Huge kudo's for that, for anybody. |

Can't even tell the difference in Tool tunes in the later albums. Rehashed junk. |
I can confirm that Tool’s later albums sound like junk. Much like their earlier albums.
|
Are Tool fans known as Tools?
|
Cuz they sound like shit.

A Perfect Circle was better.

Just because the dude may not like something doesn't mean it is bad. I don't like The Beatles - I recognize their talent and the importance of their work, but I still don't like it. Doesn't mean they suck. |
Quote:
Do you mean 'don't prefer to much of anything' Or 'don't like as much as everyone else seems to' Or do you actually mean 'every single thing I've heard from them arouses aversion in me.' I'm not trying to be confrontational, and I can understand people who aren't as enamored of The Beatles as being as sanctified and incredible as some might argue. But it's tough to reconcile any love of music with a complete aversion to The Beatles. They did too much, too well, over too many genres and eras to merit zero affection whatsoever. |

It's like when people say "I don't like beer." I have a hard time believing that person has tried all offerings available. I used to say that about wine until I came to the understanding that I "just haven't tried the right wine yet." |

Now the Chili Peppers, I have a serious aversion to those ****ers, but they seem popular for some reason. That shit is annoying. I will change the radio station. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. |

I was in the metal scene when I was younger and, hoo boy - are those a bunch of gatekeeping mofos. I just find that attitude annoying now. |
I went to a Nickelback concert once when the wife won tickets.
It was actually a good concert. come at me. |
