What covid changes in your life will be permanent?
I've made a bunch of changes in my life over the past nine months, and frankly some of them have been pretty good experiments. In some cases I'll revert back, but in others I probably won't.
How do you think you'll think/act differently going forward as a result of this? For me, some changes that will stick are:
Some changes that might stick in whole or in part:
Some changes that won't stick and will revert back to normal:
|
When things are back to normal I am going right back to my old habits. You bet your ass when bars/pubs are back, I am going to pull out too much money, get blackout drunk and strikeout on the dance floor.
Can't wait. |
Hopefully none. I was never a germophobe type and I don’t think I ever will be.
|
None
|
Ceremonial mask-burning on the front lawn and then full back to “old” normal.
|
I hope to jerk off less, but I don’t have much faith in myself
|
I shake hands all the time, well I used too. When things go back to normal, I might not still. I’ll mos def use hand sanitizer though.
|
I can't think of any quite frankly. Maybe I would wear an N95 mask on a plane during cold and flu season but I think that might be it.

Honestly, outside of having to wear masks in order to go grocery shopping... Covid hasn't changed a damn thing about how I go about life. I basically only leave the house to go get groceries or other necessities. Other than than, and outside of a Chiefs game, **** being around other people.

I'll start utilizing closer combat moves again. Lately I've just been using jabs and hooks but once the threat of covid is eliminated I'll get back to upper cuts and body slams

Grocery delivery, as long as it sticks around a few bucks. Not dealing with people and saving a couple hours on a Sat/Sun is worth the ~$10 combined for a couple of deliveries.
Food delivery to some extent... I never used those services before, but will probably keep using them every once in a while. I already work from home and workout from home, and don't go out to eat a ton. Travel is the one big thing that I'd love to see go back to normal, or at least something. After traveling quite a bit in the year or two prior, leaving the state once since March has been kind of sad. |
Socially distance myself where I can.
Places I look forward to going to again: Arrowhead, a movie, anywhere without having to wear a mask. |

It's hard to get all of the smells in on sniffers row with a mask.
|
I am using the expectation that in person meetings are not needed to make my business more efficient. I am also implementing even more automation as I have had time to step back and think about some things.
As for everything else? No, I liked what we had before better than Fauci's vision of a world with no smiles or handshakes. |
I'd generally say none, but I had already been doing grocery orders and some level of restaurant pickup before all of this hit. I really hope that my travel and entertainment go back to the way they were before. I suppose working from home is probably going to be a bit more regular for me moving forward, but that's about it.

For me, some changes that will stick are:
Some changes that won't stick and will revert back to normal:
|
I had my first child during this pandemic so I won't ever go back to what normal was before.
OP has some good points/observations though. I can't wait to get back to traveling. Even though I have a child I have built in babysitters via in-laws. |
I'll keep wearing a mask when I use a public restroom - it helps quite a bit with the smell...
|
I'll probably still continue to crop dust anyone that still wears a mask.

None. I can't wait for the world to go back to normal. Well, except for being 25 lb. overweight. Enjoying weighing less than I did as a senior in HS, can't lie.
|
None. I only wear a mask in public when indoors because I know many will lose their crap in fear if I dont. However with family and friends I am a hand shaker and hugger and never stopped during all this. At the same time I have always liked a buffer zone when I am having dinner or drinks in a bar/restaurant.....not because of covid but i just dont want to smell anybodys bad breath or stand too close to those who spit while talking.
|
Not much. I'm a social person in most regards.

Used to enjoy going to casinos pre-COVID. I could see myself wearing a mask in casinos moving forward (as long as I'm not the only one!)......especially if more casinos revert back to allowing smoking.

Plan to go back to celebrating Chiefs Super Bowl victories every February.
|
Probably gonna cut back on hopping on oceangoing freighters for sightseeing purposes.
Imagine starting on a pleasure trip to Vietnam last February and still sitting in that bunkroom coasting somewhere on the Sargasso Sea today. |
Nothing is going to change for me.
I've been working from home for over 10 years. I already practice appropriate hygiene as far as hand washing and covering my mouth when I sneeze/cough. |
masks in public places
not having to handshake as much....it does get a little cumbersome at times. |

Honestly the day to day administration of my life hasn’t changed much.
My wife teaches and has to wear a mask, but I rarely see people and when I do they rarely have a mask. So hopefully none. |
Only thing that's really changed for me is not going to bars for social drinking and bar games. I'll probably go back to that after, but likely not in the same capacity. I've reduced eating out by quite a bit, and that will likely carry over a bit as well since I'm saving so much money now.

I'll probably continue to wash my hands more, but I'd already been doing that the past few years due to my wife nagging me about germs and doing a demo with glowgerm.
I'll probably improve some of my preparations for events outside my control. I'll go out of my way to support small businesses and tip the servers in those businesses better to help them out. I'll go out of my way to make sure Rona doesn't change my life long term. |

Wash my hands more often
Work from home whenever possible

Never eaten out too much before this nightmare so that won't change.
|
I'll continue to conduct some of my meetings remotely, which will mean I'll continue to travel for business less. However I intend to resume in-person meetings when it's time. I'll cut back but won't eliminate them.
That's about it. I'd like to continue the trend of not wearing pants day or night but at some point that will likely have to end. |

When everyone wears a mask, it is quite effective. When only some people wear them, much less - obviously. Nonetheless, should probably stop going. Tsk tsk tsk. Probably not going to go any places before xmas if my family has it to make sure I'm safe. |

Covid has shown me that I need to take care of my body. I admittedly packed on about 7 lbs since the lockdown started but I’ve been to the gym 3X a week for over 2 months now and honestly as much as it sucked at first, it’s kind of fun when you’re in shape.
I lost 12 lbs and 2% body fat and I think that I’ve improved my diet as much as anything. I am at the tail end of covid and I really do believe that work helped my immune system beat this thing rather easily. I hope this will be a permanent change for me |
Haircuts are a thing of the past for me now
Keeping with the Wildling look |
The biggest change for me & my family would be work situations. My wife and her team are going to be permanently working from home now, and my company may do the same. If we both continue to work from home then we will likely look at getting into a bigger place with more space for separate office areas.
As far as habits, I'm looking forward to going out to eat with friends again. I was part of a group of guys that would try to go to a new restaurant every week. I miss doing that. Grocery shopping...I'm not sure. The curbside pickup has be hit-and-miss. There's been several instances of them saying that something is out of stock only to be in stock when I go in the store. ...and the bidet will get serious consideration. |

So if I'm lucky enough to ever meet RM, I won't be able to shake his hand? :sulk:

None, really. I might work from home full instead of half, but that's probably it.

I don't have much control over it, but I do enjoy working from home and hope to be able to continue even after things go back to normal.
Also not a fan of handshakes so hopefully that'll go the way of the dodo. People are nasty af. Just yesterday a dude in the stall next to me at the gym took a piss and left without washing his hands. Sick ****. |

A handshake isn't getting you sick unless you follow it up with a Mike Pelfrey lick of your hand.

Now that I think about it, I don't associate with people that scratch their balls. Not since football in HS anyway. |

I'm good with the handshake going away forever. Done enough of the smile and shake in my previous sales life to last a lifetime. Keep your dickbeaters in your pocket and we can say hello.

So bottom line, we're scared of residue. i might get stuff on my hands. Ohmygod. Whatever shall I do? Look, I'm not scared of some residue. or 'fluids.' Or whatever. I've been covered in mud for days, as recently as a couple months ago. Drank water from a river. Didn't shower for a week while fishing 10 hours a day in 90 degree heat and ate food with my unwashed hands. I've been up to my armpits in the chest cavities of more than a dozen deer, or otherwise covered in the blood of countless gamebirds and animals. And shook a lot of hands while doing so over 4 decades. Not to mention to dozen or so quail I pulled the innards out of earlier this year. Actually, the two best handshakes I can remember was the time I was covered in the guts and blood of my first buck with my dad, and when my brother finally got his first deer a few years later. 'Reside' isn't really a thing for me. Looking at it now, I'm infinitely glad I wasn't raised to have such phobias. Do you guys wash your hands immediately after finger-banging your girl/boy friend before you get to homebase, or do you just forego putting your naked finger inside another person entirely? Must be kind of inconvenient, not to mention something of a mood killer. |
