Did my first live performance tonight.

Man, what a rush.

Huge night for me tonight, one that I worked hard to attain. Hours and hours (and hours) of practice and rehearsal to attain. And you say this.

What a dick! :)

What kind of performance? Singing? Guitar? Drums? Stand up?

Solo act. Guitar.

Did Under The Milky Way by The Church and Pigs (3 different ones) by Pink Floyd.

After I got off the stage, I ran outside and lost my shit. I was sobbing. What an emotional thing.

I've done stand up a few times and this doesn't compare. Though laughter is a great high as well. I'm 2 for 3 on that.

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-12-2019 02:10 AM

Sooooo, do we get to see your act???

They are mixing down ( whatever that means ) and sending me the footage.

Here's something neat. You know The Outlaw's (Green Grass and High Tides Forever)? Well, the guitarist was there and I followed him. Great guy. I was there to give him a guitar I was giving away and he happened to be the recipient. Spent all night talking to him. He also helped compose Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.

Even better, he is gifting me a Les Paul Maestro. Shit guitar but will be very valued and treasured by me. Signed too. I may have peaked.

I fat thumbed the neg rep by mistake, congrats! The first show is always so much fun. Playing an instrument is great, playing in front of other people is a whole other experience.
Keep doing it

Why Not? 08-12-2019 06:58 AM

Very cool, eDave! Congrats! Initially, there are butterflies but it's pure elation when the crowd shows their appreciation. :thumb:

Question: why only 2 songs?

IowaHawkeyeChief 08-12-2019 08:25 AM

Pretty Cool! Sounds like the hard work paid off... When and where do you perform next?

cabletech94 08-12-2019 09:20 AM

Open mic. And Pigs is pretty long.

The other performers said I wouldn't get much sleep last night after that. They were right. I'm doggin' it today.

I'm assuming he wasn't sure how you'd feel about being in a gay bar. "Open Mic" has more than one meaning in those places. :D

Funny thing. I auditioned to do it for a Diamondbacks game a long time ago. Lost out to Mrs. Arizona.

Better tits.

Glad you had a great experience. Who was the guitarist? Henry Paul? Landslide? Take that with a grain of salt. From what I understand, nobody helped Stevie Nicks write Landslide, not even Lindsay Buckingham.

Didn't know that "playing guitar" was the new slang for gay sex. Was "playing guitar" in public exciting? Were you filming for a porno? Wow, you didn't invite Scho63. Was he jealous?

It’s always such a rush performing live, the endorphins were surely pinballing all around that noggin of yours... congrats, hope you post the footage when you get it

^^^

The first time I sang Hound Dog with a live band...I was really scared.

Until Weirdwolf bum rushed the stage with his arms waving like a groupie. It was hilarious.

SAUTO 08-12-2019 05:44 PM

Congrats buddy

lewdog 08-12-2019 08:38 PM

Nice work David (if that is your real name)?

You have many talents and the world needs to see more of them.

Iowanian 08-12-2019 08:48 PM

Congrats.

Edave is here to play stairway and lick his neighbors kazoo, and he just sang

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll

So I hope she's ready to get hit in the titty with a guitar pick.

Mr. Kotter 08-12-2019 08:53 PM

The weird thing is I hadn't listened to that song in years...and listened to twice the same day you covered it. What are the odds...?

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-13-2019 04:27 AM

I decided to take your inspiration Dave and sang to my wife this morning.

I sang"S-T-F-U by The Pink Guy"

Here's the original if you're interested: https://youtu.be/jO7VJbbd4z0

Gig #2. To an empty house. But it was great as I could relax and just play. Relaxed tempo, the room wasn't spinning, and I made no mistakes. Learned a lot tonight.

IMO standup is more difficult. When you pause after giving the punch line your taking a huge leap of faith that a room full of strangers is going to laugh at your joke. Learning to keep your composure after a joke you wrote fell flat is tough because your natural tendency is to panic and rush through your set.

I will say that learning to be a great public speaker is a great skill to hone because once you feel comfortable and confident you can bullshit your way into a lot of jobs.

scho63 08-22-2019 10:02 AM

Same place as last time? :hmmm:

He did that song in the nude......

I play awful to an empty house, something about no one being there just makes it feel like practice.
If you can relax and enjoy it man I envy that.
