Well ok I guess
|
The front 7 is obviously where Veach sees need and I can't disagree
|
seems undersized
|
CAN HE PLAY CORNER
|
That's what she said!
|
Special Teams badass
|
Where's muhhhh cornerrrrr?????
|
Seems more safety size than LB
|
Any chance they groom him for Sorensen's role? Basically a hybrid safety/linebacker...? Hmm....
Definitely can see lots of chances in subpackages. |
Dude, definitely seems to bring it.....size concerns me
|
Have we found our new Donnie Edwards? He can jump on people's backs and ride 10-20 yards down the field.
|
“Technically sound tackler.”
Already better than Sorenson. |
Meh.
Genard Avery was more productive and better at everything than this kid, and was faster and 25 pounds heavier. I'm not impressed with taking what amounts to a special teams player in the 3rd, but whatever. You need a CB and FS and completely ignore it. Seems illogical at best because this guy is certainly not BPA. |
48 career special teams tackles. I like this pick
|
Can they convert him to Safety?
|

So basically Sorenson’s replacement. I think the guy is very similar type of player as Su’a Cravens. Can be used on 3rd down to help cover TE’s, RB’s and the middle of the field. |
@TerezPaylor: O'Daniel and Chiefs CB Kendall Fuller are basically best friends. Fuller is with O'Daniel right now as he interviews over the phone with the Chiefs media

What O'Daniel lacks in size and speed at the linebacker spot,
That is not a good way to start. |

Holy shit. This guy is definitely a safety. |

Who cares who we have at corner if we can't rush the passer
|
Let me be very clear, depending on how they use him, he could be our best pick of the draft going by the footage I see of him. This cat can ****ing hit.
|
He’s replacing Sorensen?
|

Been saying it all night |
he's a little smaller than, but reminds me of DJ a little in those highlight vids. FWIW :D

Looks like he knows how to ****ing tackle- so that is good.

We should be able to stop the run...

No more giving up 100 yards to pedestrian RBs in the playoffs after tonight's draft

No more. |

This kid will be a way better fit for the role Sorenson was put into last year. He looks like a very aggressive hitter.

But if we couldnt get his brother Kyle, then one of his best friends is a potential consolation prize... maybe create some synergy back there, see if they'll push each other and hold the other accountable Underwhelming, but just gonna have to trust Veach on this |

VERSATILE

Eric Murray and Daniel Sorenson were tire fires covering TE’s last year. Remember the game at Oakland last year? That’s why this guy was drafted.
He’s the new hybrid LB/S that Sorenson sucks at. Think Telvin Smith, Deion Jones and Su’a Cravens types of players. You need guys like this on your team now. |
Shaq Griffin may have been a better pick.

I didn’t understand any pick tonight. I’m hoping Dorsey wasn’t the brains in the operation. |

Dude is an energetic, versatile, violent player. My favorite pick of the night. |

Hope the kid proves me wrong, seriously. If he can be an excellent nickel defender and special teamer, I'll be okay with.

Quite frankly I feel like these are better picks than crazy athletes with no skills. We will see if they are. |
In the Box
He looks like McQuay. I liked his play Week 17 against Denver starters. Both are good tacklers and hard hitters.. like Chancellor.
|
Some of the clips gave me DJ-ish vibes

Veach confirmed he's going to be the coverage LB in dime, so Dirty Dan's position. Plus play on all of the ST.
|
GMFB
|
If he’s 90% of what Deion Jones is, that’s a good pick.

Yet another hybrid choice, the Veach template seems to be taking shape... build front to back, and stock it with multi-purpose players |
He has a 3rd string TE name but I like this pick

Man the more I learn, the more I like this pick.

The DoD Coined |
Man, I like it. All three picks today are solid football players that are VERSATILE. It allows you to do so many different things without telegraphing your intent to the offense because you don't have to change personnel. a DE/OLB, a DE/DT on pass rush downs, and a LB/S
|
Okay, so he clearly excels at slipping past blocks in space when he is pursuing and trying to make a tackle. You see that in the Alabama playoff tape, and his success on special teams (Chiefs #1 rated ST player in the draft - sup, Toub?) speaks to this as well.
With that in mind, I think he is going to be naaaaaaaasty on Safety blitzes... he could have a ton of sacks and if he can chop like Tamba or DT, a lot of forced fumbles as well. |

I like that this guy could replace Sorensen but I hope that now doesn't mean they will have Sorensen then replace Ron Parker as the single high safety. What a disaster that would be.
|
At least we won't have to look at Zombo and Sorensen on the field at the same time anymore.
|

If the Chiefs go FS in 4, then maybe there'd be some sort of competition there but I have my doubts. I see Armani Watts, Dane Cruikshank, and Jordan Whitehead as kind of that last tier of guys that might be able to start out the gate |
