That's what I liked about it. What are your buddies gonna say or do? It can't be gloom and doom all the time. They're gonna try to cheer you up and make you have fun. I really liked the back and forth between JGL and Rogan.

To me it was pretty believable. Lots of humor mixed with some genuine concern.

The last thing you'd want is your buddies getting all "weird" on ya.

saw Chronicle. it was that or The Grey and I'm a Stephen King kinda guy so went with Chronicle. wish I'd have chosen The Grey and waited for Chronicle on DVD. it wasn't terrible or anything, but I was disappointed. I thought the premise was cool, but the story didn't carry it very well.

a movie that's coming that IMO must be seen in a theater on the big screen is Promethius - a prequel to Alien. I can't wait! it's rare I'm super amped over a movie, but this is one. huge fan of the first two although they are so so different from each other....love 'em both. previews show the horseshoe shaped ship crashing, the one where they initially meet a face hugger in Alien. FYI if you've never seen the uncut version of Alien it's well worth watching.

not saying to go out and watch this or anything.....but....just finished watching Vampires Kiss. 1989 w Nic Cage & Jennifer Beals (yummy!). it was an absolute TRAIN WRECK....but I could not look away. there are scenes that I laughed out loud at and I'm really not sure if they were supposed to be funny. kept hoping to see Beals topless...didn't happen. but the laugh value of this movie is nuts. Cage is crazy. anybody else seen this laughable turd?

We watched The Grey tonight. I really liked it. Wouldn't watch it twice but it was worth the price of admission. Glad I talked her out of Chronicle.

Went to Sherlock HOlmes today. Boring.

Easy 6 02-20-2012 06:54 PM

Took my daughter to The Grey sunday, gotta say i dont see what the hype is all about.

There were too many spots that really dragged & some of the plot holes were pretty bad, Neeson gives his dignified & noble best as always... but it wasnt enough to keep me from feeling cheated.

The highlights were, of course, Neeson & the scenery, they did a good job of giving a sense of the beauty & vast scale of Alaska, though many of the scenery shots were as much CGI as the wolves.

Wolves were lame & the ending sucks.

The Artist was a fascinating film.

As the credits appeared, I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. But, it's a week later and I'm still thinking about it. Very different in the age of 3D CGI and exploding freeways. I have to recommend this movie to those who enjoy good acting, great cinematography and something very much out of the ordinary. I'm on a roll lately, the last 4 or 5 movies I've seen have been extremely enjoyable.

Watched "Drive." ****ing phenomenal movie.

But as a warning, don't buy into the previews. If you're expecting a Fast and Furious, fast-action movie, you'll be disappointed. It's actually a very cool, even-paced movie.

For those that haven't seen it yet, if you have a chance, make sure you watch "Machine Gun Preacher" starring Gerard Butler (this guy can act by the way). Fantastic movie. Very hearfelt and moving story. Its a true story too, which in my book makes it even more remarkable. Really can't believe this one has flown under the radar for this long. I really didn't know or hadn't heard much about this movie before watching, but boy I'm glad I did!! You won't be disappointed either.

In the time of chimpanzees Shark Night was a baboon. The creeps weren't creepy enough, the sluts weren't slutty enough, the jocks weren't douchey enough, and the cliches weren't cliche enough. Piranha made this steaming pile look like A Dolphin Tale. Major letdown.

Carnage. A funny comedy about two families whose sons got into a fight. The two families met to discuss what happened. Two middle class NY families going at it for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Very, very funny scenes. Amazing cast

Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, John C Riely, and Christoper Waltz.

The Yellow Sea. A South Korean action movie. Just watch it.

IIRC, they raised prices 60 percent and forced you to go streaming OR dvd service. So if you wanted both, it went from $9 to $15 or something like that.

listopencil 03-13-2012 02:44 PM

John Carter was enjoyable. I watched it with my 16 and 14 year olds. I found the 3D to be unobtrusive, in fact this is the first 3D movie I have seen that wasn't just blatantly horrible about that. I would have rather watched it w/o the 3D though. It wasn't necessary. I'll say that the movie isn't completely true to the source material, but it was true to the spirit of the books. If you want a decent family film to take your kids to, and they're too old for Lorax, I'd recommend it. My 14 year old son wants to read the books now and that's a great thing for a movie to do.

true, but it didn't double. And that extreme was only for those with 1 disc plans. Others were less severe.

Worth a watch for the special effects alone. I wouldn't go out and buy the $20 Blu-ray or anything, but I'd Redbox/Netflix it now if I had nothing better to do.
