The Colts are the worst team in the league at defending the TE. If they want to put an extra DB deep and leave their LB’s in man-to-man coverage against Kelce and Watkins, it would be monumentally stupid not to take advantage of it.

That doesn't necessarily mean "ball control", it just means using more intermediate routes.

I agree with you. Kelce, Watkins, Conley, heck even Harris - push the center of the field over and over.

They stay in that Cover 2, the middle will be open all day! Eventually you will get somebody streaking long open or catch Hill with lots of room on a crossing pattern.

Colts can't stop us.

As for the Colts offense, just who have they beaten that is a top notch quality team? I'll give them the Cowboys at home. They had to come back down the 1st half to beat the Giants at home!

They split the Jags ( 1 & 1 ), won against the Bills, Titians ( 2 ) Dolphins, Raiders,Giants,Cowboys so I ask you these questions.

1).Who among the last 10 Colts opponents games had a Top 10 Offense to play the Colts so called Top 10 Defense?

2). Was the Colts Top 10 Defense Top 10 the first 6 weeks against the Bengals 34 pts home, Redskins 9 on the road W,Eagles 20 home L,Texans 37 home L, Patriots 38 road L and Jets 42 road L ( You kidding me 42, Jets ) ?

3). How many Top 10 Offenses has the Colts faced this season against their Top 10 Defense? Eagles and Pats' maybe the Bengals in the 1st week of the season.

Was the issue the offense or the defense in the 1st 6 weeks of the season of the Colt's 1 - 5 start? The Colts has score plenty of points this year to win games, only one game they did not ..... The 6-0 shut out to the Jags, their 12th game of the season! WHAT? Your offense should be in sync in week 12! Now I will give some leeway to the Jags tired of losing and attempting to coming back around. Only 6-0, oh BTW, it was vs Cody Kessler!

10 wins vs nobodies!

6 loses vs teams they should have been 2-4 in had they had a good team!
Bad losses
Bengals
Texans
Jets
Jags
They only get 1 win in these 5 games.

Good losses
Pats
Eagles

2. Only TWO tough teams that they had any business losing other than an occasional game you lose you should have won.

If the Colts were a good team they would have been 14-2, not 10 - 6 !

So now, somebody tell me why we should fear the Colts?

Found this info out. Really interesting.

Quote:

The NFL's socialist model continues in the playoffs. Playoff home teams in baseball, basketball and hockey keep anywhere from 50% to 100% of ticket revenues, depending on the sport and the number of games in the series. In football, all gate receipts flow to the league. The New England Patriots generate more than $10 million in gate receipts for each home game, but don't see a dime of that. Teams get a stipend to cover expenses for each NFL game. Teams also receive money from the NFL to pay players for their participation in the playoffs (contracts only run through the regular season). Each player on last year's Super Bowl winner, the New York Giants, received a total of $172,000 for four playoff games.

The home team in the NFL playoffs does get to keep revenues from things like concessions and parking at the stadium. A team like the Patriots can net more than $2 million from concessions and parking for a playoff game, but the NFC's top seeded Atlanta Falcons will receive less than $500,000 under the terms of their stadium lease. The number of playoff games also differentiates the NFL from other sports. Baseball played 37 playoff games last year, while the NBA and NHL had 84 and 86 respectively. The NFL will play only 11 games this year.

NFL teams, as in other sports, can get a payoff in future years from a big playoff run when they are able to charge higher prices for tickets, suites and sponsorships. The biggest benefactors are teams moving into new stadiums, which my colleague, Mike Ozanian, wrote about this week. He cites the Falcons, Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers as potentially this year's big money winners with new stadiums on tap.

Hammock Parties 01-09-2019 04:21 PM

That explains why the Clarks keep ticket prices low.

Marcellus 01-09-2019 04:51 PM

You all know the Chiefs will be selling around 45,000 tickets directly when they win Saturday right?

Even if you don't get one from them its going to flood the secondary market.

Well for the conspiracy crowd that sure would make it likely the NFL would not want to see an AFC CG at a 27k-seat stadium. If you believe in that sort of thing.

Chiefs play first - you never know the Pats might just dominate from start to finish. Better help rig the Chiefs game to make sure. :spock:

After giving it a go in practice on Tuesday in a limited capacity, Berry has been downgraded to a non-participant in practice on Wednesday. If we’re reading the tea leaves with how things have played out with him this season, this doesn’t bode too well for his chances of playing on Saturday.

I might go with #3.

Bengals, jets, Texans losses came at the beginning of the year, which luck was still working his way back in form from missing year before. It took luck a few weeks to really get a feel for the game again. The Texans game should’ve ended in a tie and bengals game lost due to a late fumble. We competed with the eagles and that game came down to the wire. Jags loss was inexcusable we didn’t show up, got served some humble pie. It took awhile for colts to gel with all the changes. I don’t care who you play it’s hard to win 10 out of 11 games in the nfl. We’ve basically been playing a playoff game since week 6.

You did not convince me of anything! Where was this Top 10 defense the 1st 6 weeks ? You scored enough points in those 6 games to get some wins! Instead, L's, was your Defense that bad too? Did they have to gel?

I mean, 42 pts vs the Jets? That's Top 10 defense. The Texans was a lost at home, I'll give you a pass on a divisional game since you returned the favor back, twice, on a team that really was not that good. The Texans and the Colts are products of a weak schedule!

Chiefs had 9 games as cupcakes too. And went 3-4 vs quality opponents and I’m including Steelers as quality.

Bengals
Jags- Mahomes 62 qb rating
Browns
Raiders x2
Broncos x2
Cardinals
Niners

That’s nine given wins the way you see it

You’re not taking into account the timing of many of those games. We played JAX, DEN, CIN, and SF before they were out of contention. In fact, those teams still had very legitimate playoff hopes when the Chiefs met them.

That’s why things like Warren Sharp’s evaluation system are worth paying attention to. KC had the toughest schedule of any playoff team, period. You guys had the easiest. It is what it is.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-09-2019 10:19 PM

The Colts schedule was so damn weak that I (along with others) literally predicted that you’d probably end up in the playoffs when they were like 3-5.

Bengals were 4-2 when we played them, having Beaten the COLTS already.

Jags were 3-1 when we played them. That started a 7 game losing streak for them, until they finally WON a game, against the COLTS

Just some fun facts...

The Bengals were a good team when KC played them. So were the Jags. Mahomes actually torched the Jags in that game so GMAFB with that passer rating shit. KC broke both of them.

If the Browns and Broncos played the shit schedule the Colts did they'd be in the playoffs instead of the Colts.

What is about Colts fans that don't seem to understand that the Broncos had a top 3 defense all season long and are one of the toughest teams to play at home?

Houston is a joke compared to Denver. I'd rather the Chiefs play Houston 5 times in a row than play Broncos twice.

The Broncos were in the hunt for the wildcard until they lost Emmanuel Sanders. They had already traded Demaryius Thomas so destroyed an already suspect offense. Their defense is in the same realm as Baltimore and Chicago.

I think Ballard goes after Hunt once he's served his suspension...The thought of Luck/Hunt and $120 million in cap space...yikes. Indy is going to be a force in the near future...provided Luck stays healthy.

KC is going to have to completely redo their back half of the defense...Chiefs firing Dorsey will end up being one of the biggest mistakes in their history.

That said...unless there is a freak play/players get injured/refs influence...KC should win on Sat. Young cover 2 defense at Arrowhead in the cold...with Reid having 2 weeks to prepare. Watson lost that game...there were WR's open and he just decided to throw balls in the ground....that and BOB is terrible.

If Sanders and Harris don't go down for Denver it's very possible they would be in the playoffs as the 6th seed

MMXcalibur 01-10-2019 02:30 AM

If there's any justice in this world, the Chiefs shitty run defense will rise to the challenge and bottle up Mack just like the Colts shitty run defense bottled up Larry Johnson back in 2007.

BlackOp 01-10-2019 02:31 AM

Some interesting notes:

Luck is is 1-3 outside 4 td to 9 picks with a passer rating 55. He's won one game in his career with the temperature under 40..

Just to "reverse troll" the living shit out the Indy trolls reading this thread...*see below*. The game none of NFL media mouthpieces/Luck mastubatuers refuse to acknowledge...even though it happened a month ago. They simply arent allowed to mention that the Cody Kessler-led Jags shut out the "hottest team in the NFL" 6-0. Luck threw up giant goose egg...can you imagine if Mahomes had done this...it's all they would talk about.

Mark Schlereth likes the Colts! What a shocker

He says that with a passing offense that relies on rhythm the bye week will hurt us

Funny how that’s never seemed to slow NE down over the years.

Chiefnj2 01-10-2019 07:01 AM

The only thing that I can really see slowing down KC's offense is:

1. Mahomes coming out a little to amped and hot, which has happened a few times this year.

2. Tyreek's foot giving him problems.

3. Impatience and not taking what the cover two gives you.

4. Reid getting too cute.

On the other side of the ball, Luck is going to get yards. KC's DB's and ILB's just aren't that good. Indy's biggest strength is its OL and KC's defensive strength is its rush. Let's see who wants it more. Houston needs to prove he's worth the contract he has and Jones and Ford need to prove they are worth big money. No excuses.

I'm a big fan of all the national pundits jocking the Colts. It gives me the warm and fuzzies to know that our players somehow overlooking this game cannot be an excuse. The bulletin board material is growing faster than Reid can post it. It's as if we are this faux one seed team lucky to be in the playoffs and are but a mere speed bump for the Colts on their way to championship glory. We'll see what happens Saturday. My confidence grows by the day. I was at the normal Chief's fan level of freaking out Sunday with my cautious optimism and defeatist attitude. Now, I'm damn near at a Patriot's fan level of confidence.

Stupid penalties.

One of those cupcakes shut out the Colts a month ago. Another beat them by double digits at home.

New England is arguably the weakest team that KC lost to and they shredded the Colts.

The Colts are certainly capable of winning Saturday, but beating a bunch of bad QBs en route to a 10-1 finish after starting 1-5 is only so impressive. KC would have been 14-2, if not 15-1 with that schedule. They don’t lose to poor teams.

The parallels between this Colts season and KC’s 2015 season are interesting. Started 1-5 then won 11 straight, including a WC blowout in Houston. I’m guessing the next round will have a similar result.

Black quarterback=one read quarterback, to some people

Only 2 other quarterbacks have put up 50 touchdowns and they are thought of as the two smartest to ever play. But sure, Mahomes is a one read guy. Yes a black QB got 50/5000 and he’s only 23. And he’s not even a top 10 QB in rushing

Even Cowhered picked the Chiefs to go to the Super Bowl ffs. It’s all bullshit.

I'm still amazed that a lot of people watch that stuff. I'll listen to a cowherd clip every now and then when it's posted here, but with all the media out there now (podcasts etc) I'm done with the national stuff.

Has snaggletooth even watched a Chiefs game this year? Mahomes rarely even looks at his intended target until the last second. One of the reasons he is so successful is that he is so good at looking off the defense. I'm not sure how they are going to take that away?

Obvious Casserly take is fixed to be even more obvious. These guys get paid a ton of money to come up with this stuff? Really the only thing that matters is what our players think and how they perform. The exhaustive takes and analysis coming from all the media is really just meaningless babble to fill their time and boost their ratings as there are only four games to talk about. Mahomes is going to put his foot horizontally up the Colt's asses.

Wow. Just wow. The kid just completed a top three regular season performance in NFL history and Casserly says that Mahomes doesn't know what to do if opposing teams take away his #1 read.

I assume that as soon as Patrick progresses to his #2 and #3 reads he will be throwing 75-100 TD passes per year.

Ah yes, Mahomes relies on rhythm, which is why he never improvises or makes plays after being forced out of the pocket,,,,

Yeah, no QB is throwing 50/5000 if he doesn't know what to do when his first read is covered. Casserly just cherry picked a couple plays. Talk about lazy journalism.

For all the nerves shown thus far by Chiefs Kingdom, the national pundits are picking the Chiefs pretty overwhelmingly to win this game.

84% of the leading "experts" so far have picked KC.

This includes Pete Prisco, which probably means we're ****ed.

I was so pumped for the playoff game I tried to listen to some Kansas City sports radio ( I live in NC now and usually listen to podcasts or audiobooks) holy crap it's terrible! I tried two separate times and couldn't even endure 5 minutes of it. I don't remember it being THAT bad.

The Colts lie!? And hide their coverage scheme!? No one in the history of the NFL has ever done that before. This changes everything. It's also clearly why Watson missed a number of wide open receivers. He was probably just so upset that he was being lied to.

Only now am I officially worried about this game.
