That's all well and good if the players aren't keenly aware of it. Listening to interviews over the last few days, the Chiefs players, TO A MAN, have all mentioned the history of the team and the frustration of it. They may not have experienced personally but they're now invested in it. Sorry.

One thing I LOVE about Reid is his ability to get his players to buy-in. That's a crucial talent and we're lucky to have it. Despite his shortcomings, one thing Marty was good at was getting his players to understand and sympathize what it meant to look at these games from a historical and fans point of view. He was all about the team pride and being able to sell it to the players. I bring this up because I wonder if Reid hasn't started to work this angle as well?

I look forward to the day when Mahomes has matured to the point that he and the offensive coordinator can effectively run the show and let Andy focus a bit more on his HC duties on game day.

Did you hear Clark Hunt's interview on 810 yesterday?

Say what you want about the guy - maybe it was lip service but what he said gave me goosebumps.

Alot to say but who wants to read a novel so I'll try to make it short..... Everything positive said about the Chiefs is true, Mahomes is the MVP and leading a great offense, defense is much better at home, home field advantage is real at Arrowhead, they are getting healthier etc. And yes it's true that Pat's were 3-5 on the road and haven't won on road in playoffs since 2006. Also, Brady and Gronk are old and passed thier prime......all true.....

But this is also true: Brady is still the QB most would want to win one game. Gronk is still capable of a big day and is a devastating run blocker. Thier secondary is ranked among the best in the NFL, thier pass rush rankings are top 10 even though they don't get alot of sacks. Edelman is finally healthy and this is the first playoff season in 3 years both Gronk and Edelman have been in the field together. They have the best running game they've had in years. The Cheifs aren't good against the run and are even worse defending the pass against the running backs and they are not good in the red zone.

Bottom line, this is a pick em game imo. Cheifs offense depends on the big play which scares me both ways but If they don't get the big play then they are containable (keep score in the 20's)especially with a veteran defense coached by Bill Belichick. Brady is a proven patient QB who will take what you give him. Pat's have faced 9 of the top 10 defenses this year and imo Chiefs don't have the talent on the field nor the coaching proof to come up with a game plan Brady hasn't seen. Chiefs must win the line of scrimmage battle, especially up the middle without blitzing to contain the Pat's offense. Chiefs do have the talent to do this however.

I see a very close game and the Cheifs home field advantage very well could prove to be the difference as proof of the Patriots/Steelers game had the Pat's Oline having trouble with the silent count. However, if it is late and close I do trust Belichick alot more the Reid and I trust Brady more than Mahomes. Games like this is why I don't bet!

Last week: the media was saying this, "Nobody wants to play the Colts, they are the hottest team in the NFL!"

This week: "Patriots have all the experience, this is a terrible matchup for the Chiefs!"

2 Weeks from now: "Saints have the more complete team, Chiefs don't match up well at all."

2 Weeks and 1 Day: "Chiefs benefitted from beating teams that did not play their best. They won't be so lucky next year defending their Championship title."

Training Camp Predictions- Chiefs 8-8- the Chargers take the division, Chargers are just Loaded with talent and Rivers is a Gamer!"
