First verse has to be about my grandma... Second has to be about Mr. Sisk that my dad and uncles farmed for a couple of years.

I don't like country music, but I do like bluegrass and ALT-country bands.

The only country artists I've listened to and still do- are Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Kris's song "Sunday Morning Coming Down" is still one of my favorite all-tme songs.

Mosbonian 07-12-2012 08:40 PM

Do certain lines in a song ever just hit anyone else right and make them love a song? Even if the line isn't necessarily poignant? Just the way it feels or the images it conjurs up. The opening lines of this song has always done that for me.

A cup of coffee with the first sunlight
at a last chance Texaco
I'm thumbing through a worn out road map
trying to decide which way to go...

I'll be the biggest blattering idiot ever when mine takes that step. Hell I took 50 pictures of her driving her first vehicle the other day. She thinks I'm a dork and she's right.

They don't understand now....but later, they look back with love. And deep down they absolutely love how we fawn over them. It's just not cool to show that externally.

Yeah... I'm so lucky in that my kiddo is kind of the exception to that rule. She still says I love you daddy to me in front of her friends (she's 16 in 2 weeks) and she'll still give me a kiss on the cheek with anyone around. I fact her friends call me "daddy" because they think it's cute that Ray does it still. She doesn't love too many pictures though lol.

Mine still acts like I walk on water...and shes closer to 17 than she is 16..

This one from Tim McGraw has been one of our favorite songs since it came out....and a nice story behind why.

We were on our way home from the Father-Daughter dance...one of those special nights you don't need a camera for because what is there in your memory is better than video.

We danced the last dance after a night of her dancing with her friends, dancing with me....and she was worn out. She was so tired that on the way home she closed her eyes and I thought she had gone to sleep. "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw came on...and I sang along with it...at the end of the song I looked over and there were tears in her eyes....

Okay, I'm officially blaming all of you, (especially you, Fever!), for getting me into listening to country music. LMAO I catch myself cruising this thread at work and watching the videos. There are a lot of songs that I've never heard before, (mainly because I don't usually listen to country), but some of them are pretty good.

I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon this thread before??? :O

Page after page you guys are playing some of my very fav songs period! Then again there is a reason they are classics and great music in general. George Strait is my personal fav but overall if it sounds traditional or it is older, I'm more inclined to listen/like it.

It is amazing how much of new country really isn't country. Then you have the likes of John Denver who is 1000 times more country than what you generally see now a days.

Keep up the great work guys! :D

Dr. Johnny Fever 07-27-2012 09:32 PM

I can't even express how much I love this song.

Jamey Johnson "The Last Cowboy"

an old pickup truck
means you're down on your luck anymore
and boots and straw hat
are just a thing of the past anymore
and ever since waylon i cant find no one
to buy into sad country songs
and tell me whos gonna ride us away
when the last cowboy is gone

is there a place i can find
any three quarter time anymore
is there a dirty jukebox
that spins on a dime anymore
they changed all the words
and the cowgirls they all sing along
but tell me whos gonna ride them away
when the last cowboy is gone

if john wayne gene and roy
are now just some cowboys

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned hearing that Miranda Lamberts vid for "Fastest Girl In Town" would feature Danica Patrick. They were right and here it is.

I'm not usually a Miranda fan... I like a couple of her songs. I'll admit this one is kind of a guilty pleasure though.

I am from Montana but not really a huge country fan, although Dierks is probably my favorite. Miranda Lambert opened up for him at a concert I went to a few years ago. Miranda ain't really my thing but live she did really rock it!

I feel ya.

This is my favorite Dierks song. Love everything about it. It's just "feels" awesome imo.

Trace Adkins is one of those singers I love half the time and hate the other half depending on the song. Here's one in the love category.
