Detroit’s defense has gone from being ranked 3rd in yards per game during Austin’s first season to 27th in yards per game this season (just above Sutton’s 28th ranked defense).

Agreed BUT it also say's lack of playmaking talent as well IMHO.

Marcus Peters, Chris Jones, Reggie Ragland, $130 million supposed franchise defensive player Justin Houston... that isn’t enough talent to prevent an opposing offense ranked 25th in third down conversion % from going 7/7 on third downs in the second half?

Welcome to 3 years ago Sam. I guess better late than never.

I suspect it's one we'll never relinquish. It takes two generations of Hunt owner-shit to get the record, and more Hunts to keep it going.

Thats pretty hyperbolic

No, it's Truth !! NFL means "not for long" and our draft picks for the most part on defense have not panned into talented depth whatsoever. However we waited too long for development with most of these defensive picks. We MUST DO a better job drafting guys that can show they can play almost immediately and by at least the 2nd yr be starting. If they are not starting or rotating getting a lot of time being a legit playmaker by the 2nd yr then we move on PERIOD. e.g. Phillip Gaines:rolleyes:

Peters is not a physical player thus does not defend the run at all. Chris Jones was out - so where is the adequate talented depth of development to take his place? Ragland has performed well but he can't do it all himself. Houston not only being used wrong too your point BUT where is the opposite side pass rushing talent to not allow offenses to key on Houston alone to take him out ?

Titans are physical and they ran all over us. Peters ain't going to stop Henry. Chris Jones is out. Ragland can't do it all. And Houston can be keyed on.

Where is all this defensive talented depth that is supposed to be there when you need it ? We have very little if any IMHO.

But it's perfectly fine for the alledged strength of your team, the offense to lay a goose egg in the entire second half, including 6 yards of offense in the third quarter. If the D is so ****ing bad, why would you continually go 3 and out and put them back out there?

Will have a party when Smiff is gone.

Rebuild your D with all of the money saves by getting rid of dead weight and taking advantage of that rookie contract of Mahomes, ala Seattle dumbasses.

PUT BOB SUTTON IN A NURSING HOME AND NEVER VISIT HIM

You are legit reeruned if you can't see how Sutton is a part of this problem. Smith was ****ing atrocious in the 2nd half but the defense was just as bad.

Exactly. The offense spotted you 18 points _efense. Go protect it in the 2nd half. We're going to suck ourselves for the whole 2nd half, but only 3 times in NFL HISTORY, going into this game, has a team given up a 2nd half 18-point lead and lost (we just happen to be one of those teams just 3 years ago) so we feel that you should be able to survive. Jeeeeez this is so simple.

I will say it was so STUPID for the offense to go into a shell and put it on the shoulders of the 28th ranked _efense... I think Kelce going down had a lot to do with that though. Still, 18 points, is 18 points. _efense should have been able to protect that lead.

2nd half Defense:

- You have to play the run and get out of the nickle/dime package. Call a time out if you have to. They got gashed all year on it. Make the adjustment. You have two good corners, let them man up and make Mariota beat you from the pocket.

- Tackling was soft all year and it raised its head again. Wrap up, gang tackle and be nasty.

- Houston is paid to be an impact player. Where was he? He is one of our only two remaining super stars on defense and he was invisible in the post season, again. I don't want to hear about how he was dropped into coverage too often, because he was a non-factor when he tried to rush the passer.

offense/special teams

- Once Kelce went down, Uno e Fatto and Nagy were clueless.

- 3 impact offensive players. One went down with an injury. One wasn't given the ball and one dropped 3 or 4 easy passes.

- Stupid penalties.

- Switching to an ineffective horizontal attack instead of feeding Hunt.

- Smith getting happy feet the entire second half.

- No decent TE on the roster other than Kelce.

- Let's be honest, Smith bailed Andy and Robinson out at the end of the first half. Holy questionable clock management and execution.

- Nobody is really talking about the missed field goal and "drive" that led to it, but it was as bad as you can get.

Time to bring some beef to KC

After the Steelers killed our defensive front 7 in the playoffs I thought for sure it would be addressed. It wasn't. So no wonder Dorsey is gone and no wonder we blow an 18 point lead to a running team

"But the running game is irrelevant in today's game". Lol maybe if competent run defense is being played but we haven't seen that in 2 years in KC.

Unacceptable to lose another playoff game because of that.
