Plus any video that has both Maureen McCormick and Kellie Pickler in it can't be all that bad.

Thanks in advance.

I'd comment on that if Kid Crock could carry a tune in 2 10 gallon buckets and a 10 gallon hat.

:)

Rasputin 07-09-2012 11:59 PM

Well it's not a 10 gallon hat, fact looks like a charger powder blue ta ghey hat. That said Kid Rock can sing ok. He by far not best singer but he tries lol. He is a good entertainer at that.

He's absolutely terrible... but I love you KC Tat and I respect your tastes. Many people like him... so I'm not one of them. Doesn't matter.

Do me a favor and listen to Jamey Johnson "High Cost Of Livin." I'll respect your opinion.

I liked it ok, as far as country goes it's good country music. My headphones lost it's right side so I'm not getting the full effect and it's very annoying to me like that. It's like listening to half a song the whole way through.

None taken, Kid Rock is a guy you either like or you don't. I like Kid Rock for an entertainer not so much for a singer to say. He sold me from his part in the movie Joe Dirt. That made me think he has a good sence of humor for himself. He has also payed his dues in the music industry and really has been himself throughout.

That song can be reposted 1000 times. One of the purest country songs ever. I met and interviewed AJ while that song was climbing the charts so it was all he had as a new artist. One of the nicest guys I've ever met and as I understand still completely humble to this day 30 hits later.

Billy Currington is under-rated imo. That's a great song. Saw him when that song was his new single. A lot of people don't know Billy has a pretty serious case of social anxiety. He's constantly over-coming it. If you watch him live he often turns to his side when playing a solo. He has a hard time facing the audience straight on unless he's behind something... even a mic stand gives him security enough to face a crowd. I applaud him for working through it to realize his dreams.

Pretty decent change up. Not great but I won't change the channel if they're on.

Iowanian 07-10-2012 03:27 PM

I'm a fan of older and traditional country....Most of the stuff coming out the past couple of years outside of some like Brad Paisley is crap imo. Garbage. I'd rather choke most of the newer artists on the radio pretending to be country than listen to them.

that said, I'm on a big "red dirt" kick lately.

My favorites by far right now are The Turnpike Troubadours. I've seen them live twice and they are outstanding.
My little girls love them and can sing quite a few of their songs front to back.

<iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Mt1eevCbhmQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I really like their entire last album, but the new one has some great new songs, led by Gin, Smoke and Lies
<iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1fD1C5dnXRY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also really enjoy Jason Boland and the Stragglers, The Dirty River Boys, and I Like a band out of Missouri, The John D Hale Band. He's got an awesome version of Lights of LA County.

Iowanian 07-10-2012 03:45 PM

Fair enough. Thanks for listening and giving me your opinion. It's one of my favorite songs.

Here's another... and I apologize for the home made video. I have no idea why the maker of the vid used all the old pics of JJ. He hasn't had short hair on his head or face in years when he was a struggling musician and not even when this song/album came out. He looks totally foreign to me in 99% of the pics... they did at least one newer one with the longer hair and beard after the first chorus.

BTW the album "That Lonesome Song" that this comes from... as well as "High Cost of Livin" won the grammy for best country album a few years ago and several country-specific awards.

"Mowin Down The Roses"

Dr. Johnny Fever 07-11-2012 07:32 PM

Title track to the cd and another lame video that uses an old picture that doesn't even look like JJ. It must have been a girl that made these videos and thought he was "cuter" before he grew out his heair and beard.

Don't judge by the video... it's a great song.

"That Lonesome Song"

Dr. Johnny Fever 07-11-2012 07:43 PM

This is from JJ's newest cd... double cd... "The Guitar Song." A little better viewing too. Jamey doesn't make videos and really doesn't do photoshoots. He's pretty much anti-Nashville and very much anti-Nashville-and-record-company-politics.

"That's How I Don't Love You"

Jamey wrote "Give It Away" for George Strait. This is a duet with Lee Ann Womack at the George Strait Artist of the Decade show a couple years ago. I love GS to death but this is even better. My favorite live performance video.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b3odBldMm8Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Dr. Johnny Fever 07-11-2012 08:06 PM

This is Jameys cover of the Vern Gosdin classic "Set Em Up Joe." Interesting fact; this was recorded the morning after Vern Died and since JJ had the earliest studio time in Nashville that day and recorded this first it was the first song to be recorded in Nashville after Verns passing.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tk4hcpsCBGM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm just scratching the surface of Jamey Johnson stuff but this is the last I'm posting tonight. I'll do more, especially if anyone is interested in it.

Thanks for listening.

Lumpy 07-11-2012 11:16 PM

This song was very popular at the bar when Gonzo and I played in a poker league. The first time I heard it, I wasn't too impressed, (I thought it was a little too "twangy"). Whenever we do get to go back to play poker, (which isn't often enough), it still gets played at least 2-3 times. There's nothing better than seeing a group of tough looking, good ol' boys drinking and singing to this song. LMAO

Jamey recorded this at 2am in an the historic Ryman Audiorium all by myself... no one else in the building. You can hear the echos of the empty auditorium. You could say this is kind of Jameys personal theme song.

Can you imagine how much the ticket to a concert by these 4 guys would cost?

AJ, King George, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley....

This is really cool... and it's not about politics. Brad Paisley doing "Welcome To The Future" at the White House. It's worth a watch. Some neat stuff aside from the performance.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've probably watch it a hundred times. I love the "speech" Brad gives before singing the song. I really dig him.

How about a little Carlene Carter....

Nice Mosbonian... Shenandoah. I'm not sure I've ever gotten through the end of this one without getting a little misty.

What a great feel this song has. Always reminded me of an updated "You Ain't Just Whistlin Dixie" by the Bellamy Brothers.

Shenandoah "Sunday In The South"
