Last night they finally dropped in the ratings after a couple of strong Fridays. I think it was more about what was on the other networks, but if the show has more lackluster episodes like that one, I can see enough of us tuning out that it won't be renewed.

If it does get cancelled, what scripted series would Fox have left that were introduced since Fringe debuted?

Before long they're not going to have much left but reality shows and the eventual Glee spinoffs.

This is Fox we're talking about though, so Fringe will be canned. It's a miracle it lasted this long...

Hopefully we'll be given an accelerated wrap up of the arc. It was criminal to see good ideas (IMO) like Dollhouse and Jericho treated that way, but it was better than nothing.

I'd like to know what's up with Sam Weiss... The way they portrayed him in the last episode, makes you think he's got much more knowledge than he's letting on. He knows a bunch about both worlds somehow. I'm not sure that he's human... or at least not a normal human like the rest..

I thought that was easily the most interesting part of the episode. Who is he and how/why does he know so much?

The last time we saw Sam was in "Olivia. In the lab. With the revolver". Great show title.

I'm thinking he's one of the "First People". Maybe a time-traveling refugee, or possibly he's from another parallel world where the First People never went extinct.

Speaking of Sam: the Chalkboard in Walternate's lab in "Over There Pt. II" had an anagram on it:

"A DEMONS TWIST RUSTS"

which can resolve to:

"DON'T TRUST SAM WEISS".

Which would explain why he's on this side and was probably from the other side at one time.

I hope that someone else picks this up if Fox drops it.

they can always put it on FX if they want to.

Maybe he's an observer who discovered ganja and the hair club for men.

Actually, I thought about that. I'm thinking he's either a First Person or a retired/rogue observer.

The fact that they have another story line involving an observer who's having Vulcan like emotion issues, it wouldn't surprise me on the observer angle.

That was a brilliant left turn there at the end. Something so obvious but not even hinted at.

After looking like a fairly successful Friday transplant just a month ago, ratings for FOX's "Fringe" have continued to slip, though the network remained in a three-way tie for the night in the all-important demographic.

9 p.m. - "CSI: NY" drew the night's biggest audience, giving CBS 9.66 million viewers in the 9 p.m. hour, also averaging a 1.5 demo rating to take the hour. NBC's "Dateline" was second with 5.66 million viewers. Third went to ABC's "20/20" with 5.25 million viewers. FOX's "Fringe" averaged 3.71 million, dipping below 4 million for the first time since moving, though its 1.4 demo rating still tied for second on the hour. The CW's "Supernatural" also had a weak week, averaging 1.96 million viewers and a 0.9 demo rating.

no chit, its like the "acting" shows for the actors. We can get our background on how the charectors got here without stopping the whole plot line to fill in some holes. And then it looks like next week is another one of those weird things happen in one episode and its resolved and never is mentioned again or moves the plot line along.

Are they not paying attention? The show works as a continuing plot line of the two universes. It doesn't work as a "we cleanlyresolve the issue in a 50 mintue show".

Season 3 gets 22 episodes and that last one was episode 15. 7 left.

I actually like the most recent one (Subject 13). It only dealt with the main storyline, so that was good.

And also the previews for next week seemed to indicate that there will be some of the main storyline stuff brought up...

That was a strange one. I'm not sure what the point of it was. Odd filler episode.

I don't think they have, but I have noticed that in 1985 there its not really that far advanced ahead of us. I think Walternates discovery of multiple universes might kick off a technology boom pretty soon Over There.

That was really cool seeing some of the old packaging of items from that time in the toy store.

Eh. I got a kick out of watching her act out Nimoy's mannerisms.

That part of the episode was good and part of the overall storyline.

The part with the chick who couldn't die wasn't.

That was a pretty fantastic episode. The tension after she gave birth was note perfect. That's actually the beauty of having the alternate universe that I never really grasped before, not even with Charlie or Broyles2 dying: Fauxlivia is expendable, as a character. Any of them are, except for Peter. The end was pretty good, too. You knew who it had to be the whole time, but it was chilling nonetheless.

yeah, they need to get away from the one offs and explore the dual universe story lines. Plenty of potentially great story lines.

The only way to get rid of "one-offs" is to cut the seasons in half, because 22 episodes is too many for a serial-style run. I'm fine with what we have.

Yeah I wish there was a way to do that, or at least limit them to 5 a year.

I know that Lost only had 1 or 2 (if even) of those single episodes per season.

I'm glad they got another season and I suspect that we will see a huge war between the universes, AND I think that Lincoln and Charlie won't pledge their full allegiances with their own universe because they don't trust Walternate.

I don't have a problem with the standalones at all.

From a certain perspective, every episode of lost was about half standalone. And Lost itself was a perfect example of just how difficult it is to maintain a serial structure over the long haul.

Uhhhh Lost, 24 etc continue story lines and not veer off for filler. You really think we need filler when you have two different and competing universes with the same character on both sides?

All of the episodes have tied into the main arc in some way, so I'm not sure what your beef is. The show has always had a 'monster of the week' element to it. That shouldn't change now.

Either way, this is the strongest season yet in my opinion. I'm glad there's going to be another. Although I hope they move it to a different night. And maybe pair it with Terra Nova and have a science fiction night again.

I'm still quite curious about the Observers, and their brief glimpses in the last few episodes....

anybody know where i can watch previously episodes online? I watched this season until they had a month break, and then end up moving, and forgot the show came back on in January. I looked on fox website, but they only have the last 5 episodes. I tried to watch one, but i was just totally lost lol
