When his TD-INT ration hits the 3-1 range, I might start taking notice. Till then I want him taking SOME chances. Great QBs throw picks for a reason.

He threw none in the second half, which means he likely began to really figure out the D. Sometimes it takes a minute.

Referring to the NE game, his first pick was a blatant rookie-type mistake. He was totally fooled by the fainting/dropping LB. I don't think we'll see that one again (at least, not like that). The second pick was egregious. Big time no-no right there. Cost us points we could have used.

If Mahomes has an obvious issue, it's that he gets himself too hyped up. It's too early to call it a pattern, but we've seen it several times. Something I hope he can self-correct because nobody can do that for him.

He does. It's called being young and inexperienced. He will be jaded like the rest of us soon.

Simms said he noticed that Mahomes was looking up at the spider cam during our first huddle in NE. He mentioned it because he interpreted it as a sign that Mahomes was thinking about the environment a little too much ... instead of the upcoming play and the job at hand.

It's interesting to me because I've seen it (different circumstances, of course, but exact same issue). A high-magnitude event can definitely get in your head and distract you.

Nonetheless, I have full confidence that Mahomes will eventually see beyond the spotlight glare.

It's going to happen with any young guy. And if we are being honest, I have yet to see him shit the bed like Alex would do in key parts of important games.

I'm a chargers fan and would like to believe that but I feel it's a load of crap. The chargers are the same football team they've always been. Rivers is in the stage of his career where the staff is trying to protect him by running the ball more but that only works against piss poor defenses. Melvin Gordon isn't a legit tailback. Chargers probably lead the league in negative offensive plays. Rivers lack of mobility always gets him in trouble in close games in obvious passing downs. The defense is nothing special. Bosa will be back at some point but I just don't think the chargers can score enough. I think the chargers and chiefs could play 10 times with their current rosters and chiefs would win 9 of them.

Chiefs D is horrendous except for when it counts, 3rd down. Right now they can't stop the run at all but have some players coming back and should get better. This team might seem a lot like the Vermeil Chiefs but to me they're quite a bit different. Vermeil's chiefs were primarily a running team. They ran the ball and ran play action off that. Trent Green never excelled in extending plays on obvious passing downs or running a 2 minute offense when the threat of the run was eliminated. But this current chiefs team can score from anywhere on the field in any situation. I think they're most like the '99-'01 Rams in that the only way they will lose is by turning the football over because no team can keep up with their offense unless they gain extra possessions.

Chiefs D has also been great on forcing punt on 1st possession of game.

IIRC, 2018 Chiefs have won all 6 coin tosses and deferred each time, All 6 games Chiefs kicked off and forced punts in 5 games and gave up opening drive FG to Denver in week 4.

I wonder what the record is for consecutive coin toss wins. I am pretty sure Chiefs are 6 in a row this year.

I think Chargers are a good team, but think not having any real home games is tough to overcome.

Just had to say that in over 12 years here, I never had a clue B Ambuehl was a Chargers fan... how in the hell does that happen?

Until now he must've been the most closeted Chargers fan in America

On a different, but op related note... Patrick interviewed Rivers yesterday, it was a solid listen and AFCW opponent or not, he is one solid dude, very down to earth and likeable

Except on Sunday's, when he turns into a giant, crying baby...

Ambuehl is a troll then. He always acted like a KC fan that shit on the team when they were bad

If the fans didn't EXPECT this, they were lying to themselves. He's a 23-year old kid. It was his first game in Foxboro. I fully expected that first half.

What I didn't expect was THAT 2nd half. :D

That 2nd half is the reason this team will win a SB eventually if Veach can build an even average defense.
