All the good single malt is making me jealous. I had some Johnnie Walker laying around so I am drinking that. Have been trying to decide on what my next bottle of single is going to be.
Maybe Dallhwinne. (sp?)

Scotch is a pretty personal preference.

I'm a huge fan of Oban, Macallan and Glenfiddich, but I know people that prefer Chivas or JWB.

1554: Enlightened black ale

Born of a flood and centuries-old Belgian text, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale uses a lager yeast strain and dark chocolaty malts to redefine what dark beer can be. In 1997, a Fort Collins flood destroyed the original recipe our researcher, Phil Benstein, found in the library. So Phil and brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, traveled to Belgium to retrieve this unique style lost to the ages. Their first challenge was deciphering antiquated script and outdated units of measurement, but trial and error (and many months of in-house sampling) culminated in 1554, a highly quaffable dark beer with a moderate body and mouthfeel.

Sucks that it's from Colorado....but it's too good. Just sayin'.

For the record, champagne brunch isn't gay without going with a girl. I can drink endless champagne for 5 hours for like $15...what's gay about that?

Boulevard dry Stout.

Sauto - I quit drinking for a while, got bored so I went to 3 drinks per day, max. Which worked fine for many years. Later, my doctor told me to only have 2 drinks per day - not a big change. They haven't thrown my big ass in the drunk tank since the 70's, so I must be doing something right.

Kudos to you. I rarely drink anymore. Maybe a beer whenever I go out with friends who drink. Sometimes, I'll order a mixed drink on a Saturday whenever I'm at my local watering hole. That, or I know the bartenders and I sometimes get the excess when they mix up a margarita or I get a drink whenever they make something a server has put in incorrectly. That's it for me anymore.

SAUTO 04-17-2011 08:54 PM

We got to drinking three four five nights a week and NEVER spent less than a hundred bucks. Sometimes over two.

Wasn't good for the relationship, family, or business

I like this one. Alot. Its almost an IPA brewed with lager yeast, and aged like a lager. A very complex brew coming from a major brewer. Its like Sams remembered their roots as a craft brewer with this one ( also the latitude 48 IPA....)

Prolly. American Pils are a different animal entirely. Some still bring a bit of hops. But Pils were originally a bit of a hoppy brew. American Pils remind me of American Pale Ales with a bit of a bitter finish. And the major brewers will call anything a pils nowadays. Hell, Miller has the balls to call that swill a pils.

shirtsleeve 04-22-2011 10:58 PM

Just a note here. Schlitz and Gansett have re-opened as semi craft brewers. The old industrial beers are gone. Both produce a passable American pils now. They got back to their 50's roots and are using the old ingredients and better german hops. Not horrible brews for those who like the American beer flavor. Gansett is also producing dark ales, stouts, and porters. Gotta give props when due.
