Voluntary workouts are voluntary, but they still have value. For some players they hold monetary value, as is the case with reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens star quarterback has been absent for most of OTAs, and it has cost him $750,000 in workout bonuses, according to a report from Pro Football Talk.

Mike Florio reports that Jackson's contract includes a condition where he must participate in 80% of offseason workouts to earn the $750,000 bonus, excluding of course mandatory minicamp. He has reportedly already missed too many sessions. However, after signing a $260 million deal last April, Jackson will probably be OK.

Still true

Because he had 100 yards rushing and 200 yards passing, I bet those dumb****s that decide MVP will be like "oh damn that's one hell of a week 1, sure is off to a strong start for another MVP. Going to be hard for anyone to top that performance this week"

But did you see those 2 throws to open receivers that could have tied the game? And every time he threw deep it looked like he was just throwing up a prayer, hoping his receiver could just outplay the DB.

Lamar had a good game stats wise but that one play he needed to make he threw to shit

Anyone else cringe when NBC showed the comparison of the QB’s? They brought up the 2 MVP’s for both guys, while conveniently leaving out Playoff results. Gotta love it when the media ignores pretty important context to push an agenda. They do that on pretty much every subject.

Does he work hard to get better? No. He's the same WR playing QB he's always been. He run all year and make some plays then in the playoffs his tired beat-up self will lose again.

ThaVirus 09-06-2024 06:30 AM

I thought he played OK given the circumstances. Their offensive line is a work in progress and that was apparent very early on. I read somewhere that his average air yards per target in the first half was like 0.8 yards. The gameplan was clearly one to avoid having Lamar sit in a collapsing pocket.

That said, he missed a few deeps shots badly and obviously had a couple big misses on those last couple plays. Plus he was running too damned much.

I honestly am still not sure how he’s able to avoid getting tattooed so consistently. For his first 10 carries or so I don’t think he took any decent hits. As the game wore on, he started getting a little more reckless. By the end, I was wondering if he’d keep getting up after some of those hits.

Probably just some week 1 bravado. He won’t last all year if that continues.

smithandrew051 09-06-2024 06:37 AM

So his only win against Mahomes is still when CEH fumbled away the game winning drive?

Yeah, this isn’t a rivalry.

Buehler445 09-06-2024 06:37 AM

It's not prudent to run 16 times, and furthermore take the hits he took last night. I didn't mind him running when he'd just slip out of bounds. He's fast enough to sustain that. He can't be letting dbs square him up.

15 QBs in the league hit one of the 2 first or second down throws in the redzone. The reality is they hacked the clock management so ****ing hard, that possession needed a running play. That's on Harbitch, but those 2 wide ass open misses he was late on is definitely Lamar. Those are rough looks.

Lamar’s not better than Joe Burrow or Josh Allen let alone Mahomes. I’d rather have Justin Herbert too - I know he’s not done anything but I also think he’s been coached poorly throughout his career prior to Harbaugh. And probably CJ Stroud as well although he’s still growing. Lamar consistently shrinks in big moments. But I’m sure they’ll smoke the Eagles in December before losing in January….again.

Lamar gets behind, he does the opposite of shine. Mahomes becomes the sun

Damn, this is the thread I should have posted the link in.

Ravens fan is arguing about Lamar playing running back:

Do people really say Lamar is better? Actually I think both teams are fairly even. The deciding factor is the huge chasm between the 2 QB's.
