The UFC is reportedly checking with Derrick Lewis to see if he wants to take a short notice championship fight next month against DC in MSG.

The UFC's MSG card had been set, but I assume they are now doing this after the fanbase took a bit wet shit all over that card on social media, making it clear that it won't sell worth a damn unless they do something. (They could just simply open up the 165 division, move 170 to 175, and make the Diaz fight for the inaugural title, but the UFC doesn't want to do that.)

He barely had the conditioning to go 3 rounds, much less 5. Don't think that'll change with the time he has to train.

The UFC is out for the next 2 weekends and Fightpass has absolutely nothing for the first time since they started, but we've got other promotions stepping in to fill the void.

For the first time in a while, I'm actually kinda looking forward to Bellator. They are having both of their semifinal heavyweight grand prix fights this weekend.

Friday

8pm - (Paramount) - Bellator 207, Mitrione vs. Bader

This is a top-heavy card. The last two fights are going to be fun, but the rest of the card is prospects and guys I never heard of.

Saturday

8pm - (NBCSN) - PFL 9

The opening round of the PFL's playoffs in their lightweight and light heavyweight tournament. I assume you can see more fights before the TV broadcast on Facebook as usual.

8pm - (Paramount) - Bellator 208, Fedor vs. Sonnen

I would watch the PFL except..... they had the bad luck or made the bad decision to compete with what is a very good Bellator card. The last 4 fights should all be worth watching.

Dana White admitted that UFC 229 will not break 3 million buys, but it will break their record and go well over 2 million buys.

He also changed his mind on possibly stripping Khabib and now says that it absolutely will not happen. He thinks Khabib ought to be suspended between 4 and 6 months, and get a $250K fine.

I think they still want to do DC vs Brock for mega-$$$, and that would be harder to sell if DC loses to Jon Jones first. Brock Lesnar is not eligible to fight until January, and DC has repeatedly said he's retiring in March.

So, I think they are squeezing as much money out of DC as they can. Give him this easy fight, hype up the fight against Brock in January, and then win or lose maybe they can then cash out and throw him at Jon Jones in March.

They are going to probably take his LHW belt and set up a LHW championship fight between Jon Jones and some other contender (probably Gustaffson)

The UFC wants DC to end his career at HW defending that title.

Now that they have set this up as the MSG main event, the UFC is going to let Joanna have her title shot back in December.

Derrick Lewis winning the HW title on 4 weeks notice with, maybe a 2nd-round KO (his cardio is gone after 3 rounds) would be the most dumb, hilarious, and chaotic outcome imaginable.
