glad you like it....saw a first commercial for it the other day, and the customer response in the contest to choose it was overwhelming...maybe they'll take the hint....i'd like to have one on a summer day..

Agree best of the seasonal beers and I already like the Winter Lager a lot. This however blows it away.

Drinking a smooth, creamy, hoppy 2010 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine. I'm going to follow it with a 2009 Bigfoot to see how the aging process is going on my '09s.

After my reprieve from beer I am kicking things back off with a bottle of Boulevard's new limited-release Smokestack Series release -- Rye-on-Rye, an 11% ABV rye ale aged in Iowa's Templeton Rye brand whiskey barrels.

Reaper16 03-03-2010 07:20 PM

Boulevard's stupendous, world-class [Smokestack Series] Dark Truth Stout came out on Monday. I bought a case. I am opening up a bottle now (note: this is almost the same beer as Jan. 2009's limited-release Imperial Stout, only Dark Truth contains no spelt in its multigrain grainbill and it wasn't aged in bourbon barrels).

You have a friend that brought a 10-month old bottle of 2009 KBS to your SB party? Surely you must be referring to Founders Breakfast Stout, an imperial stout brewed with coffee and chocolate nibs. I'm referring to Founders' Kentucky Breakfast Stout, a similar recipe to Breakfast Stout only aged in bourbon barrels.

Good. Though I prefer the sugar taste over the HFCS taste.

I'll have to check the rack to see which one I want.

Or have a shit ton of alcohol? :D

Lzen 03-19-2010 10:28 PM

I trade beers every once in awhile with my coworker. It works better to try them that way then to buy an entire 6 or 12 pack only to discover you don't like it. Anyway, he gave me a Guiness Extra Stout that I finally got around to trying last night. That was really good. Strange as it may seem with the different beer I've tried, I had never tried a Guiness, any Guiness. I picked up a 6 pack of that tonight.

Has anyone tried Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale? Man, I love Sierra Nevada brews, but that one was a little too strong for my tastes.

Bigfoot is tremendous. And it is one of the better beers to age long term.

Interesting tidbit about the throwback Colas.

When Pepsi and Coke started using and buying up sugar (sucrose) it drove the cost of sugar sky high. Using HFCS was cheaper and easier to get.

They have driven the cost of sugar up due to supply and demand significantly.

We use a lot of sucrose (sugar) at work and this drove our cost way up on our sucrose containing products.

I have done a lot of brewing and this is one of my top three picks off the shelf. It's a damn good beer. I make sales call on the Big Sky Brewing Company and make sure to make the calls at around 4-5pm. :D The owner is also a good guy and takes care of me when I make those calls.
