Sierra Nevada Kellerwies (hefeweizen). A superb, authentic German-style hefeweizen from the ever-dependable Sierra Nevada.

I got an ice cold Labatt Blue popped right now. I know some people don't like it, but I'm from Western NY where it's popular, and that's what I like.

Switching between Pilsner Urquell and Single-Wide IPA. Weird combination

Reaper16 08-15-2009 05:53 PM

Depending on how Cassel looks, I'm going to crack a 2007 bottle of Goose Island Matilda.

I thought about going to Munich next year in September for Oktoberfest, but I doubt it will happen. Still on my bucket list though.

StcChief 08-16-2009 12:50 PM

BLVD Single Wide and Wheat.

luv 08-21-2009 05:20 PM

Barefoot Shiraz. It was $5.99 for the bottle, so why not? Two or three glass before going out later won't hurt.

Reaper16 08-21-2009 05:27 PM

I'm going to be at Flying Saucer tonight and I'll likely be drinking some of the following, each on-tap:

Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA
Odell St. Lupulin 'Extra' Pale Ale
Goose Island Matilda (Belgian Strong Pale Ale)
Great Divide Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti (Imperial stout; YES, on-tap!)

How you like that Matilda? I've got to get out and give that one a try.

Rum and orange Metamusil with a squeeze of lime and a sprig of mint.

It wasn't as impressive on-tap as I would have liked. But if you have the chance to buy some in bottles I would recommend it. I really enjoy a fresh bottle of Matilda; lovely fruity flavors going on in that Belgian Pale Ale.

I recently did a vertical tasting with a fresh '09 Matilda, a 2008 Matilda and a 2007 Matilda. The beer changes dramatically with age; the 2007 tasted like a Belgian-style Amber (think Ommegang's Rare Vos) instead of the Belgian Strong Pale that it is fresh.

Reaper16 08-22-2009 12:42 AM

BTW -- fresh Avery Maharaja on-tap is amazing. Sooooooo good. If you're in Kansas City, you need to visit Flying Saucer before it is gone. If you're in Columbia, MO -- then go to Sycamore (you know, that pricey restaurant). Sycamore constantly gets good beers on-tap, and right now they have Maharaja (among other things).

Three Floyds Dreadnaught [Imperial India Pale Ale] -- one of the top 5 Imperial/Double IPAs in the world. No, you can't get it in MO or KS. You have to have a hookup from Indiana, Northern Illinois, or Eastern Wisconsin.

Bell's 2 Hearted Ale.

Red Seal Ale, from North Coast Brewing Company.

#9, from Magic Hat Brewing.

Vicodin and mountain dew.

Ah, Bell's Two Hearted Ale. My favorite beer.

California doesn't get Two Hearted Ale. I've got a guy in CA that wants some. I'm sending him some Two Hearted and a bottle of Boulevard Saison-Brett and he's sending me some Ballast Point Sculpin IPA and some Russian River PLINY THE ELDER. **** yeah.

Try the Smokestack Series Saison. It will be available everywhere. Its the same style of beer as Tank 7 but not the exact same recipe. Boulevard are masters of the saison style.

Any Martini drinkers here?

I almost exclusively drink them. Typically have a traditional with 3 olives. Picked up a jar of jalapeno stuffed olives and threw one in it tonight. Talk about a curve ball.

They're very different beers, Single-Wide and Hoptober. Hoptober is an aggressively hopped blonde ale; its basically an American pale ale without caramel malt. Single-wide, being an American IPA, is a whole lot hoppier.
