That's a good point and thanks for clearing that up.

A leader can be both though. Mahomes is both for the O, Brady did it for the Patriots, and Ray Lewis is a good example of someone did that on defense. There's others I'm sure I am forgetting as well. Hopefully Bolton can develop into more of an emotional leader when Chris Jones leaves. If not, someone else is going to have to step up because it's a very important role in an emotional game like football.

Jones I would give him a 3 year deal, 60 million fully guaranteed. Then a whole bunch of incentive marks to get to 30 million to keep him hungry.

Yup. Give him 30 per and load that puppy with the same amount of nearly impossible achievables. He's Jones - so it may happen...

How much does a future contract extension for McDuffie impact what the Chiefs are willing to pay Sneed?

McDuffie’s rookie contract is up in two years.

Can the Chiefs afford with their salary cap situation to have two CB’s at the top of the CB pay scale?

Nope. Nadda chance.

Yes they can make it work. A 5 year LTD for McDuffie would have lower cap hits the first 2 years, so you wouldn't have to really start paying him big money until 2028

Plus, as a 1st-round pick, they do have the 5th year option (which will obviously be picked up).

So you really have 3 years before his big hits start.

They can tier hits perfectly with Sneed and McDuffie so they don't overlap. No concern there.

Many people said that the new contract Jones signed for this year negated the Chiefs ability to tag him. Apparently not.

Actually it was quite the opposite.

Can't believe his agents allowed that. I'd rather sign for LESS money on a restructured 1 year deal and be able to NOT be tagged this year.

O.city 02-17-2024 01:26 PM

The tag is 32 million

So the chiefs CAN tag him but they pretty much can’t financially

They have to bring back Jones. 0 for 4 in Superbowls without the plays he's made in the 3 wins in crucial spots. Saved the Bengals game last year and Bills this year as well.

There's no way the Chiefs can win another SB without Tyreek Hill!

Danguardace 02-17-2024 01:36 PM

Grown up thing to do is Sneed 3 year deal, let Jones walk and retool the offense imo.
