They walk away with more 3rd liners in Perron and Bozak.

So for another year, this roster is Schwartz - Schenn - Tarasenko and 15 bottom 6 guys looking for minutes.

Go eat crow on a hot ass plate.

I'll be sitting there right next to you.

Armstrong got ROR and the only thing he really gave up of value was Thompson a 1st, and a 2nd.

Blues get O'Reilly from the Sabres for a 1st in 19, 2nd in 21, Tage Thompson, Vladimir Sobotka,Patrick Betglund

They just can't quit that turd Perron. 9 million a year for these two clowns...unbelievable

Pasta Little Brioni 07-01-2018 07:02 PM

Cya Berglund!!! Not a bad deal to get O Reilly.

What?

Perron at 4 mil cap hit is fine. Contract is maybe a year or two longer than I'd like, but he's a solid middle six winger who can play RW and shoots right handed.

Bozak is solid as middle six center and just ****ing made the Sabres call their bluff on ROR.

Armstrong, even without making the ROR trade, signed two guys who don't block Kyrou, Thomas, or Kostin long term.

But Armstrong just fleeced Buffalo and got a legitimate top line center who I'd argue is better than Stastny.

Pasta Little Brioni 07-01-2018 07:08 PM

Armstrong ****ing blows, but at least the O Reilly deal cleared some trash from the roster and got a good player

Name one bad trade that legitimately damaged the Blues in the long term under his time as GM.

His worst trades have been Oshie(which he was hell bent on trading), Perron to Edmonton, and Miller.

Of those, only the Oshie trade might have caused long term damage for getting essentially Brouwer for one season.

Armstrong brought in Bouwmeester for jack shit, Schenn for a cap dump and two firsts, he traded Ryan ****ing Reaves for a first round pick, and he refused to overpay for Backes.

The worst move you could argue Armstrong has made was picking Allen as the future goalie for the Blues over Bishop.

Armstrong is shrewd when signing extensions and FAs in addition to being shrewd for making trades. He has shown consistently he won't make an overpayment for a player unless he's comfortable with that, with Miller being the lone exception.

DaFace 07-01-2018 07:19 PM

**** Ryan O'Reilly. That is all.

Pasta Little Brioni 07-01-2018 07:21 PM

Oshie and Bishop are reason enough ROFL Dude is a pure garbage GM

Tavares, growing up, was once one of us.
For him to make this call to chase his "childhood dreams" and come home is something Leafs fans have been waiting for for decades.
Gretzky was almost a Leaf in his 50's, Coffey tried to be a Leaf, Lindros was a Leaf after his 20th concussion. Stamkos was courted by the Leafs 2 years ago after the Leafs finished last and just drafted Auston Matthews. The list goes on and on.
For Tavares to make this decision, while in his prime, has caused a massive orgasm for all of Leafs Nation. (I'm still getting some residual spasms in my left calf as a result).

My big issue with Tavares is that he really screwed the Islanders over by telling them he didn't want to be traded at the deadline. He didn't know at the time he was likely considering TOR? At least let the Islanders get something for you.

Now I'm glad he didn't because it hurts a division rival but personally I think Tavares really dicked them over.

That's debatable. The Leafs went through this with Mats Sundin. If you're under contract with a team, you would/ should never express a desire to leave. What would that gain you other than disdain and turmoil?

Reporter: So John, are you excited to sign your extension with the Isles?

JT: No, **** this team, I've been here for 9 years and it's been a total cluster-****. 1 playoff series win in 9 years? Seriously? The Leafs look pretty good right now. I think I'll go there.

According to JT, he was convinced to make the move over the past week or so. (I find that part hard to believe). Either way, the Isles did this to themselves through shitty ownership and management. The same way the Leafs did with Sundin.

I'm not talking about what he told the media. It's what he told the Islanders themselves. If you are gonna leave, at least ok them trading you at the deadline.

Gadzooks 07-01-2018 08:44 PM

Why would anyone express the desire to leave to an employer? to be traded to Winnipeg for 3 months? That's the turmoil part they want to avoid.
I totally get it. I was pissed about Sundin, but I understood it. I was more pissed at the Leafs' failures than I was at Sundin.

It's easy for me to say not being in the situation, but I do believe that if I had loyalty to a team(and he claims to with the Islanders) and I was pretty sure I was going to my childhood team next season, I would be honest and let them get some assets for me. I also don't see the playoffs as turmoil over wasting away on the Islanders for 3 months.
