Holy shit....Grand Maester Pycelle is Donovan from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

George R.R. Martin wrote the episode that we watched tonight.. He should definitely do more!

Well that fully lived up to high expectations.
Was that The National doing the Lannister song in the credits? |

Also interesting is that the episode was directed by Neil Marshall who also wrote and directed The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday and Centurion.

That was some epic shit. Great episode.

Wow, Tywin saves the day for the Lannisters. What an entrance.
Good to see the Hound finally rise up against Joffrey and take Sansa with him (at least that looked like her decision). Dick move by the bodyguard to slice Tyrion's face without warning. I suppose getting a spear through the face is enough retribution, though. Where exactly was Stannis being pulled to in retreat there? His ships? Don't Tywin's men outnumber them on the ground? And it looked like Davos died, but there was no confirmation on that. His son certainly took the brunt of the explosion, while he was kind of just thrown into the water. I guess we'll find that out next. |
If Stannis is really retreating, he might want to go find his priestess. He certainly could have used a few of those shadow assassins for that battle.

She could be their artillery. Get her a chaise lounge and some pillows on the opposite shoreline and she can fire those suckers off like howitzer shells.

This season is nowhere near as good as the first season. No real twists in the story at all. Almost just a bridge season from the first season. Last night's episode was great TV but nothing crazy really happened at all (did anyone actually expect Stannis to take King's Landing?). After Ned was killed, I was under the impression that the show would be full of unexpected twists, but this season has been predictable. The preview also ruined the one interesting storyline, as it appears Sansa did not leave with The Hound. I'd give season 1 a 9.5/10 and season 2 a 7/10. |
