If you had told me before this game we would score 40 pts, I would of said, OK, we have a 10% chance of winning.

ROYC75 11-17-2018 09:59 PM

To lose by 15 pts, it was a solid, I say a very solid effort by the Jayhawks.

An average coach wins 6 games with this team. A good coach might get 7 wins. Plenty of talent.

BWillie 08-31-2019 11:51 AM

What was the line on this game? Got really lucky that last throw wasn't ruled a TD by Ind State.

SithCeNtZ 08-31-2019 01:07 PM

Just an awful gameplan from Miles today. Offense is extremely conservative, although some of that is because Stanley sucks. But only rushing 2 on fourth and 8? Then a key third and 8 and we only rush 4 again and give him all day to throw by rolling out. I'm not sure we have blitzed in the second half. Bob Sutton would be proud.

ISU is a solid team in their division. They did return all five OL that helped lead a rushing attack that averaged almost 250 a game last year. KU should have won, which they did, and by more, but I'm not so sure that it should've been by three or more TD's. A Miles coached team should never lose this game. Next year or the year after KU should make some noise on the field. This year they should be able to get back to some respectability

It's going to take a little time. This was their preseason game with the NCAA not having one. And don't forget just how conservative Miles can be. Maybe too conservative

The conservative bit is my problem. The offense and defense went into prevent mode what felt like the entire second half. Had we continued to bring pressure and attack on both offense and defense, we get that 20+ win.

That is true. He was coaching Martyball out there. A game that should've been closer to your outcome was almost a loss

Actual defensive adjustments were fantastic to see. Especially when the majority of BCs offensive success was on missed assignments and missed tackles in the first half.

Great to see aggressive offense until we truly had the game salted away.

My only complaint in the second half was that we dropped like 4 interceptions. That may bite us in a closer game.

Not sure why Kansas was backing off so far on that last passing play. There’s only a few seconds left and Texas has no timeouts.

You need to be up in the WRs faces and not give them an easy completion to the sideline.

That was literally all Texas could do on that play. Anything else and the game is probably over. Dumb defense there.

Coaches get scared to lose the game. And play not to lose. Commom problem even though sheer stupidity

smithandrew051 10-19-2019 09:05 PM

Seriously what the **** was that? There’s no chance you get beat deep there. No way is Texas throwing long.

Get up and protect the boundary. Maybe they complete the pass, but you keep them in bounds? Game over if that happens.

Great effort by the team, but that is awful awareness.

That was more poor awareness than it was playing not to lose. There was no chance of getting beat deep. No way does Texas have the balls to throw it down the field there.

Don't disagree in general but no blitzes on the entire drive. Prevent defense the whole way. If you are a huge underdog you might as well sell out and take risks just like we did on the two point conversion.

Agreed. I would’ve taken some chances for sure, but I get why they didn’t.

That last pass made zero sense there. There’s no risk at all in being aggressive. Texas is even considering looking down field on that one. Our defense really needs to recognize the time remaining and timeout situation.

Literally any completion in bounds short of the first down ends the game. Protect the boundary and don’t give them an easy one.

Elingher probably would’ve thrown it away if it was contested, but you never know. Hell, you might even get a pick.

David Beaty must have been one terrible football coach for this KU team to be playing like this with Miles. They could easily have an above .500 record right now. Also, how was Carter Stanley not playing more the past few years under that staff?

Stanley looks far better this year than before.

And yes, of course Beaty was a terrible coach. He had no idea what he was doing.

If a few bounces go the other way, KU could be sitting at 5-2. They have looked like a typical post-Mangino team a few times (TCU, Coastal Carolina), but that'll happen now and then when you're just not that talented.

The BC and Texas games are way better than anything we've seen since Mangino.

carcosa 10-20-2019 01:43 PM

Can't wait to see who Les Miles can recruit! I don't think it's too crazy to think a national champion could start attracting some top talent.....

Buehler445 10-26-2019 09:12 PM

I’ll go ahead and eat crow on Les Miles.

I figured he’d try to run his LSU offense without his LSU defense. He seems to have adapted well and his guys are playing.

They’re not good or anything but it is good to only be bad than Worst team in the history of the sport bad.

So yeah. Crow. I’m eating it.

That being said, if he’d run this offense at LSU he’d have 15 championships and still be there.

smithandrew051 10-26-2019 09:27 PM

Coastal, WVU, and Texas all could (should) have been wins. Regardless of their final record, this team wasn’t far from Bowl eligibility as crazy as that may seem.

I would guess they win at least one more game this year.
