Oh wait, disregard my post. I missed the part about the repayments only being capped at $31 million. WTF? Why is there any limit at all?

The answer would be something that would get it all dragged to D.C.

What Equifax did in all of this was incredibly shady, right down to charging people to lock and unlock their credit reports over a breach they ****ing caused.

Said you could take the 125 or get 10 years of credit monitoring. If more people take the 125....you could get less. My question-Is that 125 tax free?

If so-I would still take the 10 years of free monitoring.

If you have a major credit card, you've got that for free anyhow. It's really a jack off option for almost everyone.

The FTC is already admitting that nobody is going to see anything close to $125.

5. I thought I could choose $125 instead of free credit monitoring. What happened?
The public response to the settlement has been overwhelming. Millions of people have visited this site in just the first week. Because the total amount available for these alternative payments is $31 million, each person who takes the money option is going to get a very small amount. Nowhere near the $125 they could have gotten if there hadn’t been such an enormous number of claims filed.

The free credit monitoring provides a much better value, and everyone whose information was exposed can take advantage of it. If your information was exposed in the data breach, and you file a valid claim before the deadline, you are guaranteed at least four years of free monitoring at all three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) and $1,000,000 of identity theft insurance, among other benefits. The market value of this product is hundreds of dollars per year.

You can still choose the cash option on the claim form, but you will be disappointed with the amount you receive and you won’t get the free credit monitoring.

Yep at least they caught that skank. She stole information on over 100 Million people and the max sentence is only 5 years, seriously what in the ****?

When they stormed Paige Thompson's place to arrest her, they also found her roommate Park Quan, had a large stash of illegal firearms. It seems the roommate had some felony convictions (which means you can't be in possession of any guns) and hauled his sorry ass in too. She looks like a meth head:

I wonder how long this will go on because at some point everybody's information will have been stolen at least once and it probably won't matter.

I'm curious if their idea of free credit monitoring is actually referring to Credit Karma.

If this winds up where I get a check for like $7.48, I'm not going to cash it and send them a legal letter telling them I'm suing them for fraud and theft by deception.

I'll want triple damages or $375 to settle......

Expect more like a check for $.25

Massive response, versus a previously limited payout pool.

Heard they are preparing communication asking for specific details on credit reporting for those seeking the payout and re-urging the free reporting alternative to be sent soon.

I found this interesting. I qualified. My wife didn't. My 23 yo daughter qualified. My 20 yo son didn't. Uhh?

Bwana 08-01-2019 11:12 AM

I just saw a report a few minutes ago that because of the number of people filing claims, the $125.00, is now down to $6. Don't spend it all in one place.
