It is almost unfathomable that a team can go 3-6 in conference and make a bowl game. I'll grant you that.

When you consider that one of the conference games is essentially a Bye, it starts to make more sense.

Oh, totally agree. You don't need Sagarin to tell you that your team was embarrassed in their new league. The scoreboard did that.

5-7 was a disappointment for sure.

Of course, Mizzou went 0-5 against top 10 teams. The entire Big 12 was 0-3. Any time a team in the SEC fails to earn more top 10 wins than the entire Big 12 conference combined, it's going to be embarrassing.

"I want to take a moment to comment on SEC men’s basketball. The fact that the SEC has won three of the last eight NCAA men’s basketball championships, has two schools represented among the top 10 that have won multiple men’s basketball championships, and is third in the number of championships won by a conference, does not offset the fact that last year men’s basketball season did not meet our high expectations. So to focus more directly on men’s basketball, last week we announced the appointment of Associate Commissioner Mark Whitworth to the newly created full‑time position of director of men’s basketball. In this role, Mark will serve as liaison with our coaches, oversee the tournament, prepare the conference schedule, work closely with our media partners in matters pertaining to men’s basketball, and coordinate non‑conference scheduling. At the same time we have asked Greg Shaheen, former NCAA vice president for men’s basketball, to consult with the conference and our member institutions about non‑conference basketball scheduling."

Jeebus, I would kill to have a conference that aggressive. I heard about this move a few weeks ago as Frank was commenting on it during one of the 810 shows.

I don't know that it will translate to a more competitive conference or improve the overall play within the conference. But I do like that the SEC doesn't stand pat with the "traditional" bball power will carry the conference.

Wickedson finds you creepy for caring about college sports.

The MVC has something similar to this in place. Essentially the MVC league office would withhold NCAA tournament money from schools that didn't meet the league's OOC scheduling guidelines. Translation = don't play the sisters of the blind OOC schedule.

You do realize in college sports that the teams compete against each other? It isn't a competition of conference all star games.

I've never seen Brandon Rush or Ben McLemore in person. I'm not the creep no.

So where did that photograph and quote come from? I'm guessing they must have emailed them directly to you. Surely they didn't come from those media members you find so creepy.

Commish doesn't really have any impact at all on KU, Kentucky, UNC, Duke, etc winning all the time. And he can't really do anything to improve TCU or South Carolina basketball either. He's irrelevant.

I guess Bowlsby could do something symbolic like make some nice speeches or appoint a few bureaucrats to new posts. Not sure why though.

So I was listening to 610 a few minutes ago, and they brought up the same point that I have heard many others make...but I don't understand. They say that SEC fans are so passionate about college football because there aren't as many pro teams in that part of the country.

The SEC has NFL teams in 6 of the states in which a member institution resides. There are 10 NFL teams in these states.

The Big 12 has one such state and a total of 2 NFL teams.

Am I missing something?

It's 610 so whoever said that will be replaced in that time slot in a few months anyway.
