Gawd damn; y'all are some Watchmen-lovin' mother****ers up in here.

'Hamas' Jenkins 12-10-2009 09:14 PM

Haven't had time to watch a lot of movies lately other than some holiday-fare.

Sat down with the wife and watched Four Christmases. What ****ing awful tripe that was. The cliched, "two people don't want a family, but see the error of their ways and realize that it's the only way to actually be happy" shit that gets spewed all the time.

netflix shows a sequel as well....

L.A. Chieffan 12-11-2009 01:25 PM

How many have seen Law Abiding Citizen? I thought it was great until that last 10 minutes and they completely sold out which was unexpected considering the content of the previous hour and a half or so. I can think of about a dozen better endings than that garbage.

Shame, it almost jumped into one of my most underrated films.

That's why the only chick flick, especially at Christmas time, you should allow her to watch is Love Actually.

Have you seen Serendipity? I had the famous Serendipity chocolate shake that they drink in the movie. Andy Warhol's favorite.

-King- 12-11-2009 09:06 PM

Watched Shooter a couple days ago.

Could things have happened any more conveniently for this guy? Holy shit. Everything he wanted, he had.

KCChiefsMan 12-12-2009 03:41 AM

I watched Whatever Works, a Woody Allen film starring Larry David. I'm an LD fan, so I rented it. It was meh. Not my cup of tea I guess and I was kind of hoping for Seinfeld/Curb LD and that wasn't it.

KCChiefsMan 12-12-2009 05:06 AM

so I was browsing through netflix instant watch movies and came across Carlito's Way: Rise to Power. I loved Carlito's Way, this new one was supposed to be a prequel to it and thought I would check it out and see the story. Now, I didn't expect anything but come teh fuck on. I could have wrote a way better movie for 1 simple fact, I have seen Carlito's Way. The writers for this one, obviously have never seen Carlito's Way starring Al Pacino and Sean Penn. It had nothing to do with it at all, nothing. They even had the guy who played Pachanga in the first one, but he was a completely different character. No best friend lawyer, no Gail story and was a latino chick. WTF? I could have dealt with the terrible acting but don't make this movie if you have never seen Carlito's Way, they obviously haven't ever seen it before. So stupid

Jenson71 12-12-2009 02:30 PM

I'm half watching The Burning Bed. Domestic abuse is disgusting. I can't take it.

Just watched "500 Days of Summer".

It looks like a "chick flick", but it's not. It's all from the guy's perspective.

Kinda hit home with me toward the end. A little sad... but still a really good movie.

Yes. It's a really well done movie. Phenomenal performances by both Viggo and the kid. I hear it's a great book, but my wife couldn't get me to read it. She LOVES horrifically depressing novels.

Well, the trailer didn't make me say "meh", so I'll probably check it out.

KCChiefsMan 12-15-2009 01:44 AM

watched Public Enemies. I fell asleep after 2 hours and it was ok, but just ok IMO. It really seemed to drag on. But I got Inglorious Basterds coming tomorrow via netflix. I'm very excited because I haven't seen it yet.

blaise 12-15-2009 09:46 AM

Avatar seems to be pretty well received so far on Rotten Tomatoes. The trailers don't really make me want to see it, but maybe it'll be better than I first thought.

It was a highly acclaimed movie so no worries. It's got Forest Whitaker in one of his early leading roles and some pretty hot chick whose name I can't recall. It's got a respectable rating of 7.3 at IMDB.

District 9

Road to Perdition (just so you know, this isn't flowers and rainbows)

The Ghost and the Darkness (I don't know why, but I really love this flick)

Deep Blue Sea (corny, but the chicks in it are uberhot, and it is enjoyable, definitely worth a netflix)

KCChiefsMan 12-16-2009 10:12 PM

this is the main reason to watch Deep Blue Sea, aside from the hot chicks, it's the only reason because it's AWESOME

I agree. It's got some big names in it too, and when I tell people that I love that movie, I get the old :spock:.

Aries Walker 12-17-2009 09:07 AM

Man, people here are hitting a lot of my favorite movies.

The Ghost and the Darkness is a great adventure movie. It's very much in the classic vein, which I loved. I think a lot of people give it a ho-hum rating because the 'villain' isn't a supernatural FX-laden juggernaut, but I think that's to its credit. You also get to see Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer lay their egos down for a movie, and underneath it all they're both great actors.

irishjayhawk 12-17-2009 09:04 PM

Just finished Food Inc.

Better than I would have ever imagined. Learned lots more than I had already read about.

The sad thing is, in my mind, I'm not sure who came out worse: the food system or the legal system.

I watched GI Joe last week (I didn't pay for it).

It was....terrible. Like I expected, but I did enjoy a few parts. And a few parts were relatively well done. But they were vastly overshadowed by the shitfest. I was however surprised at the potential that was there. They could have done some good things.

Oh. And the chicks were hot. I love boobs. They're my favorite things.
