We don't have to fix much for him to bring value with his current bat. He's got a good floor. His defensive metrics are worrisome tho

Since the WS win- lots of very bad moves have been made. Looks like another down year for the Royals.

ROYALS GET JACK SCHIIIIIIIIT

Was thinking the same. *Sigh*

I'm not ecstatic with this, but if this is the return for Davis, the medical file must have some red flags.

And still... Soler has a lot of physical ability. He's able to play right away and help in 2017 rather than waiting on him for a year or two, like prospects.

And in his own right, he was an elite (top 20) prospect.

Soler is actually fine as the main piece, just surprised there weren't more secondary pieces included.

This isn't a sign of a fire sale or them not trying to compete in 2017.

12 HR's in a half season of AB's. I think he has some upside. Davis' forearm scares me a little. He very well could disappear like Holland did. We needed to move on some talent to get some control. I would assume Dyson or Cain is pretty much gone now though.

Don't mind trading Wade...

.... but to get Soler...?

BigCatDaddy 12-07-2016 01:21 PM

So Dyson has to be for prospects right? I can't see him bringing back something that will help the club this year. Maybe a reliever?

Mecca 12-07-2016 01:22 PM

Oh for the love of god, lets ask this question Soler is still very young and was a top 15 prospect not long ago.

If the Royals had taken Hosmer or Moustakas a year and a half into their MLB careers and flipped them for a prominent reliever, but one that had just had an injury riddled season, would you be happy or pissed?

Cause that's what the Cubs did...Solers potential is off the charts had he come up in the Royals system he'd have been right there with any of those other prospects as top of the line guys. Guys with 40 HR potential don't just grow on trees.

Sure-Oz 12-07-2016 01:25 PM

@JorgeSoler68: Kansas City... are you ready? I am! Can't wait for Spring Training. Let's do this Royals fans! #SolerPower

Kauffman is where homeruns go to die though..

I just think if you're using his status as a top prospect to justify the trade, then just go out and get prospects versus a guy who hasn't done much in the majors beside get hurt or supplanted by other guys in the Cubs organization.

Just my thought.

And Wade could have been the best closer in baseball again. I am sure the Cubs are happy unloading a .238 hitter for our best cyborg. :shake:

At least we will always have his WS domination to remember.

I'm choosing to be optimistic about Soler. The offense was terrible last year, so a young guy with power and potential is gonna be more valuable than a dominant closer with health questions. Gotta get the lead to save it and all that

I'll miss Wade tho...

1 year vs 4 years the Royals aren't paying Davis after this year and if he has any injury issues they'd lose him for no draft picks or anything. It's risk vs reward, I remember when the status quo was anytime you could trade a closer for something of value you did it without question..

Now people are pissed about it, Wade Davis is passed his peak and anytime a pitcher is having forearm issues that's a giant red flag.
