Hey Bro!

I haven't been around much lately. Are you not drinking for a reason? I hope it's not a medical reason!

Heh. Just a cold....nothing serious; but I sleep worse with booze AND a cold.

Hope all is well in your world. :thumb:

Thanks for the kind words.

Everything's okay out here but I did a sleep study for my snoring last night at UCLA. Probably the most uncomfortable sleep of my life. Probably 75 wires hanging off my body. And I'm sure some type of surgery is to follow.

An hourly shot of whiskey always helps to clear my lungs when I have a cold. Have any VO handy? :)

I hope you feel better soon.

Sleep study...eh. Let me know how things turn-out. I've "been there" and "done that." Maybe I'd have some insights.

Don't know if you caught this thread....

Don't know if you are in the same boat or not, but I'm really a "new man" in many ways.

I'll check it now, thanks!

Before the sleep study, my doctor said that I have enlarged tonsils (that should have been removed when I was a child) and a huge amount of tissue in my throat. The tonsils and the tissue are causing the snoring and vibration and need to be removed. But first, I had to do a sleep study, not only to pinpoint the cause, but for insurance and sleep apnea.

Prior to my first appointment with this doctor, I didn't know that I could die from sleep apnea. That's freaky, especially since most people with SA don't even know they have it.

Thanks for the link. I'm sure it'll be helpful in dealing with my issues.

GoHuge39 (he's a PA, IIRC) had some good advice; he seemed open to PMs too on the subject when I was going through it....things have gone so well with me, in all honesty....I've had no need to follow-up with him. Seemed like a good guy with some real insights though. I haven't lost as much weight as I had hoped but otherwise, I've been a new man since the surgery (sounds very similar to what you are facing.)

The one caveat I'd add...is the 2-3 weeks after the surgery, are really brutal. More than you expect even after being told that. If you are ready though, you'll be fine if you have a good doctor. Best wishes.

Thanks, man. I've got a UCLA head and neck specialist who's in private practice that's supposedly one of the best on the West Coast. I'll keep everyone updated with my results (painful or not).

Now go have a shot of whiskey for that cold! :)

Yeah.. I may have a 7up.......

I've been real sick this week... (sick enough that the docs actually gave me REAL drugs on my first visit!)

gblowfish 02-23-2008 07:04 PM

This afternoon I had a drink with some of my bud's at Kelly's in Westport. 44oz Boulevard Wheat for $8.75. That was plenty for one sitting. Tasty too.

The Keg-o-rator got a fresh new keg last night. Delicious, ice cold BL Smoothies on tap. But tonight, as I will be heading out to a few bars for a friend's birthday, I will be drinking some Killian's and Smithwicks.

DJ_is_the_realdeal 03-07-2008 09:15 AM

I had this shot about a few weeks ago and wanted to know if anyone else had heard of it. Its patron but instead of lemon or lime/salt. You use a orange slice and sprinkle cinnamon on it. It was very good.

Just keep your logins straight to avoid embarrassment. :p

I think tonight is a good night for one of the few English contributions to Western Civilization...Gin and Tonic.

BigOlChiefsfan 03-28-2008 05:36 PM

It's gonna be Old Charter 12 'The Classic' (sadly discontinued) + Blvd. Irish ale tonite. I'd better get ready, I want to drink some whiskey while the sun sets. When you're drinking the last bottle you own of some tasty bourbon, a whiskey that'll never more be made, you relish every sip. Ah gar-on-tee.

I'll raise my glass to the big 12 represented in the sweet 16. That's as close to a Jayhawk toast as I get. Sic 'em, boys.

StcChief 03-28-2008 05:40 PM

Frozen Svedka Dirty Martini then Vodka Tonic ...after this week.

Mizzou_8541 03-28-2008 05:45 PM

Come on...grey Goose and Red bull. Or any vodka and some other equally unhealthy liquid energy. Is there any other choice?

I don't know yet - working till 11 tonight, then maybe it'll be a turkey with a splash of water or coke. Gobble Gobble.....

3 sierra nevada pale ales so far

Just cracked open my 2nd Newcaste.....luckily I have another 6pack in the fridge waiting for me.

KCChiefsMan 03-28-2008 07:05 PM

I hate Oklahoma, can't buy cold good beer! So I bought 2 6 packs of Choc(warm) at the liquor store, and a 6 pack of Miller Lite at the gas station (cold). So I'll pollish off that Miller while I wait for the Choc to get cold

Davechief 03-28-2008 07:15 PM

1st bottles of Samuel Adams White Ale for the Spring Season, even though it doesn't seem like much of a spring so far.

KCTitus 03-28-2008 07:25 PM

it's been a coupla years since I posted here...

Started with a few Buds...now, Im on to Vodka. Nice 75 degree evening... so I figured Vodka (or Gin) would be a nice change from the winter liquors.

1ChiefsDan 03-28-2008 08:37 PM

I wish I could drink but i finally learned that I never know when to stop. I just don't have the ability. I didn't drink for two months then went on a bender last friday and saturday. Then spent two days just taking showers and feeling like shit so i have been sober since march 17th. I still wish I could drink but I know one leads to two then it just goes until i pass out then i wake up in the morning and it is easier to pick up another one than feeling like shit all day. Drink it up guys I am sitting here being jealous !

Vodka on the rocks. Well, it looks like Vodka on the rocks...but it's really just water....don't tell anyone

NewChief 04-10-2008 09:14 PM

Just had a couple of glasses of black box chardonnay. I don't usually drink white wine, but someone left this at our house. It's a warm, sunny day after a week of horribly wet weather, and a some white sounded like an appropriate change from the usual red.

RedandGold 04-10-2008 09:29 PM

Redbreast neat...good stuff!

BigOlChiefsfan 04-11-2008 03:18 PM

After a glass of scotch & tea hot toddy I tried a bourbon last night that I never see in Kansas.

Evan Williams 'bottled in bond' or BIB. White label, 100 proof/4 years old (all BIB whusk is 100 proof and at least 4 years old). Some vanilla, sweet, lotta spice. Nice, nothing to make me throw away all my Wild Turkey but nice. I paid $10 in Jefferson City, MO (@ Gerbes). Cheap and pretty danged good.
