Plus, stubhub and ticketmaster is way overpriced. Not worth it right now.

Those toes are pretty damned important. Better get something.

bringbackmarty 01-14-2019 11:43 PM

I was at both of the coldest games ever last year. If the forcast holds I think we're going to win. Tyreek will get loose for a deep td, plus a return td. Michel will get a ton of yards and a couple of fumbles. Justin Houston gets a strip sack return for a TD. Kelce plays defense and gets a pick on the backup qb's hail Mary to win the game.

Eleazar 01-15-2019 12:06 AM

I have legit cold weather gear, I spend a lot of time in Canada. I have skied for 3 days when the daytime high was 0 and been fine. The main things are to wear outer layers that wind can't penetrate, and to keep all your skin covered. If you do that, you'll be ok. Also, don't cheap out on the boots.

You don't want to over dress though, because if you sweat under all of that, eventually you'll be freezing.

Fortunately thats Friday night.

CoMoChief 01-15-2019 04:35 AM

I was at the Chiefs/Titans game (2016 IIRC)

We had an ice storm the night before, and the temp was -4 at kickoff.

So cold nobody wanted to go. I had ST, but 3rd party tix were being sold for $2. Stadium was so empty they let everyone migrate to the lower level front rows.

I was bundled up like I was living in Antarctica.

I drank a lot of Crown Royal last wkn tailgating. Kept my ass warm. Plan on doing it again for sure.

Yeah, that's kinda my thinking too. I do worry that just being at night might make it a little colder (iirc the Titans game was actually a pretty sunny day), but I think that's probably balanced by the fact that we'll all have a lot more adrenaline for the AFCCG against the Patriots.

I’ve sat in that stadium and watched them lose while a freezing rain came down on us. We were covered in ice. So it’s go to be in the low digits. Suck it up and let that Arrowhead crowd make a difference, like they did last week.

Yup. Peel off gloves, peel off undergloves, dig around for your dong, try not to dribble on your layers and layers of clothes, then do it all again in reverse. God help you if you have diarrhea.

At that temp, i'm not too worried about dribble. Just let it slush where it's gonna slush.

He just doesn't like Mahomes because Mahomes is too good too early in his career and Mahomes is at home for this game. And Mahomes has not had his first 'meltdown game' yet. I've always said, sports talk show guys are just extremely frustrated "wanna be athletes that never were" that are attention whores who can only compete with their words that more often than not are still way off the mark.

It's hardly obvious who the weather helps. You can make arguments both ways. I'd guess both sides would prefer more seasonable weather.

Everybody said last week's weather heavily favored the Colts too. Oh well.

I do know this:

We all know what happens to the volume of air as the temperature falls below freezing. At least Brady won't have to purposefully tamper with balls this weekend, Mother Nature doing all the work for him.

I expect short punts, returnable kickoffs, dropped passes, and several fumbles by both teams.

The pressure will go down but the ball will be rock hard, and good luck to Brady throwing through the heaviest air he's every played in.

We’re undecided about going. Coming up from central OK. The Saturday snow worries me about driving five hours in it. We can handle the Sunday cold.

Yeah, I'm far more concerned with the drive than the cold. Doesn't look like there's any way for me to avoid the snow coming down from the Chicago area, and as a result, the drive time will probably be through the roof. I can generally get to Kansas City in about seven hours - I figure it'll probably be 10+ this time. :grr:

petegz28 01-15-2019 01:44 PM

The game is over. Cowherd says the cold weather gives the Pats the win. No need to play the game. Only The Brady's can win when it's cold.

I really hope Mahomes considers wearing gloves - like Brady does. I doubt Patrick has ever even experienced negative temperatures let alone played in them. You may be able to sit next to the heaters on the sidelines but once you go on a long drive your hands would be about numb by the time you get to the goalline. I can't even imagine playing football in those temperatures - it's got to be miserable.

Kiimo 01-15-2019 03:15 PM

Right now, it doesn't look that way. There's a pretty significant system coming through on Friday and Saturday and the high pressure behind that looks to be covering like all of Canada by Thursday.

Is the heated field system robust enough to keep up with that much cold? Anybody heard?

Kiimo 01-15-2019 04:13 PM

They say it keeps the field at minimum just above freezing.

I wonder if that will cause the field to steam. Could be neat.

Anyway there won't be any frozen tundra which is huge. Being cold is one thing, running on an ice block is another.

Yea, I know they claim that. I'm just wondering how cold of weather it was designed for.
