I liked it. very much. it's very surprising the LACK of gore and blood. a good story doesn't NEED it...but imo could be enhanced with a little EWWWWW. the things they show on Walking Dead.....good GRIEF!!!! nothing like that in this movie. good flick.....good story.
I'm the king of knowing who some dude is in a bit part....and I TOTALLY missed that Matthew Fox was in this albeit however briefly!

I did have to crack up when...

Spoiler!

Yah that was pretty funny. It was an entertaining movie but not great. Even for a apocalyptic zombie movie some things seemed too far fetched.

frankotank 06-25-2013 01:15 PM

OK!
nice!
hey everybody....old yeller gets killed at the end!

and now you don't need to go see the movie.

I interpreted that as he was giving away things in the movie instead of adding [SPOILER] tags like he should've.

That's kinda what I thought, but if he's concerned about spoilers, why is he in this thread after it was released?

DanBecky 06-25-2013 06:28 PM

Bought the book yesterday. Almost done with. GREAT read. Enjoyed every bit of it so far.

There are some books out there that will knock your socks off.

Apocalypse Z is excellent, Day by Day Armageddon is OK (everything that happens is too convenient), Omega Days was fantastic.

I am in the middle of the sequel to Day By Day, and it is the same as the first. Decent, but things that happen are way too convenient.

hey I've already seen it.
most people don't give away a movie without using spoiler tags. that's the typical mo around here.
no big deal.
funny though, I'm surprised YOU didn't beat me to the implied complaint! :thumb:

guess it'd be fine if I go ahead and tell everyone how the movie ends.....

well, you see, ole Brad had the idea after seeing the zombies run right by some.....
ah nevermind.

I recently read Apoc Z and loved it. It looks like he's working on a sequel.

I'll have to check out Omega Days.

Hmm. I guess I've expected the Game of Thrones, Walking Dead thread rules. Once it's aired, it's fair game.

So if I don't want spoilers, I don't go in the thread until I've caught up. I still haven't seen this movie, but don't really care about it.

frankotank 06-26-2013 08:28 AM

well...it's surprisingly good imo.

especially the part where Pitts wife gets totally zombie raped.
AWESOME!

It's quite a bit different than the other books. I like how he is fairly normal, and the situations are a lot more realistic (other than the zombies :))

Hammock Parties 07-04-2013 03:47 PM

Loved it.

Could have used a bit more of an ending though. Felt like the budget ran dry.

Movie made me CRAVE a World War Z RPG.

Bowser 07-04-2013 04:44 PM

As a movie of itself, it was fine. But there wasn't an ounce of the book in this movie.

Makes you wonder how shitty the original ending was.

SLIGHT SPOILER

I thought this was a GREAT flic, and i definitely went in expecting something of a disappointment, this and 28 Days Later are the two best zombie films of all time as far as i'm concerned.

The only nitpick i have is how they crash landed in remote Wales and managed to get where they needed to go all jacked up.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 07-05-2013 01:38 PM

Very average. Still hate zombies. What a worthless genre

That's what I thought after it was over.

I loved a lot of things about WWZ. Little stuff like Gerry shooting someone in the grocery store, and when a cop runs in he holds the gun up to show he's innocent.

Cop doesn't care, is just getting food.

LOVED the entire scene on the airplane with all the passengers.

It had potential to be a very good film, but the end just felt rushed.

Maybe on the DVD they'll have an option to watch the other ending.

notorious 07-08-2013 10:52 AM

My oldest brother told me to wait for the DVD.

Sure-Oz 07-08-2013 04:22 PM

Saw it earlier. It was solid imo and worthy of a rent and was a decent theater flick. The title def should be different but i'm looking forward to the sequel being better.

beach tribe 07-08-2013 09:44 PM

I love this movie.
I have one major complaint though.
with an incubation Period of 12 seconds how the hell could you have major breakouts all over the world and still have a patient zero.
My mind couldnt let that one go.
They should have made incubation longer.
Other than that, I loved it.

It was as much longer than that initially. They referenced a few times how it used to be ten minutes and then five minutes. But as it spread it just got stronger.

I just remember them saying it could be up to 10 15 min. Thats still not long enough to get it all over the world.

although I did like WWZ....imo it's not in the same class as 28 Days Later.
that may very well be the best zombie movie ever.

I'm not sure 28 Days Later is even in the top 10. Possibly, but definitely not top 5.

Bah, you're just being an educated traditionalist.

Just because some of the earlier movies are considered classics by many, doesnt actually make them better... a movie like Z or 28 DL have it all, a great story as well as better acting and effects than those early classics.

Curious what your top 5 or top 10 zombie movies are.

I liked 28 days later but the way that movie went about half way through to the end was stupid...it could've been tons better.

I think 28 Days Later is probably No. 6 or No. 7. In no particular order...

The original Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Fido, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, Return of the Living Dead...

As someone else said, the last half of 28 Days Later sucked.

ThaVirus 07-10-2013 01:18 AM

I was never a fan of 28 Days Later but it had some nice tension built in. 28 Weeks Later had, probably, the most intense first 15 minutes I've seen in a flick. I wouldn't consider either one a greet movie from start to finish though.

My favorite zombie flick of all time has to be the Dawn of the Dead remake.

hey man....errabody differrnt.
we all have different tastes on everything.
I'm a horror movie FREAK. if the stupidest horror/supernatural shit ever comes out...(you know like The Happening....that ****ING MOVIE!)....I know...eventually....I WILL watch it. (except for those ****ing Twilight movies...yes I saw the first one...that was enough) Warm Bodies did not impress me AT ALL!

but trying to roll out my top 10 would be a huge bitch because I've probably seen just about every zombie movie ever made and I'm sure I'd forget something. besides...I'm getting old enough now that after a year or so has passed I can't remember the whole movie anyways.

I sure like Shaun Of The Dead...but is almost seems wrong to put it in a top 10 due to the comedic aspect...but that's just me I guess.
Zombieland...oh yeah...top 5.
Dawn Of The Dead 2004 may very well be my #1. I'm curious...which one is it that strikes your fancy? 2004 or the original 1978 version?

Some Z movies I think are well worth watching....(like I said...I just can't put up my top 10...I'd spend a month on it...)

Dead Girl (if you've not seen this...you should)
Dead Alive (kids mom bitten by monkey and Z's out...humor/horror)
Land Of The Dead (I liked the intelligent Z leader concept)
Day Of The Dead (you KNOW you rooted for the Z soldier to win! making fun of him saluting...don't mess with a soldier BITCH!)
Dead Snow (yeah not the greatest but....Z Nazis! so you gotta watch)
Planet Terror (nothing needs to be said)
Zombie Honeymoon (ok...not a top 10 Z movie...but if you dig Z movies...you gotta see this)
Cemetery Man (most bizarre film in my list...it's Italian and dubbed, but worth the read.)

gotta throw a bone out to my one of my all time fav horror flicks. the chick that comes up headless outta the grave ballet dancing could be considered a zombie I reckon...although it isn't classified as a Z flick....
Evil Dead II. a moment of silence please. :D

here is an interesting list. only one I KNOW I've seen is Cemetery Man.

I'm partial to the original Dawn of the Dead, but the remake was legit.

Good call on Deadgirl. That movie is f'ed up, but really good. I caught it on Netflix a couple years ago.

Crazy,, but Yea, close.... Brimley was like 51 at the time and Pitt is nearly 50 now. Brimley I'm sure was playing 10 to 15 years older in that role.

They should have named it something completely different, though. I would almost deduct points due to the false title.

Just finished WWZ, and it was OK. It would have been a much better thing for WWZ to have been made into an HBO mini series, because that movie had pretty close to zero to do with the book. Movie did make me want to re-read the book.
