I want to feel sorry for the way he was fired.

But I just cant.....

tk13 09-23-2022 11:41 AM

This is wild, apparently people inside the athletic department were trying to sabotage him. It sounds like Herm never really put in the effort, and even aside from that, the ASU athletic department is kind of a mess. They probably need to clean house all the way through.

Though Edwards never had a losing season, he entered the 2022 campaign very firmly on the hot seat. So much so, according to Haller, that people inside the athletic department were loose with team intel in the hopes of inducing a coaching change.

From Haller’s report:

An opposing coach recently told The Athletic that it wasn’t hard to get intel on this season’s team because some within Arizona State athletics wanted a coaching change.

That’s not what you want to see.

Haller also reported that Edwards “never bothered” to familiarize himself with NCAA bylaws and made some in the department feel he had to be babysat.

Horry sheet!! You know it's bad when even Golf Digest piles on. Quick, somebody call Buehler, this will make his weekend!

Herm Edwards flying commercial out of Tempe after getting fired on the field is the saddest scene imaginable

By Coleman Bentley
September 19, 2022

How was your weekend? Did your car break down? Did your date cancel? Did you run out of toilet paper or catch COVID? Are you a fan of the Cleveland Browns? All qualifying factors for a “bad weekend,” no doubt. But no matter how bad it got [cough Cardinals under bettors cough], take some solace in the fact that it wasn’t as rough as Herm Edwards’.

On Saturday, the former Arizona State ball coach lost by double digits on home turf to Eastern Michigan. As Edwards left the field, he was greeted by ASU’s president and AD in the end zone. A brief conversation and some condolences ensued, and Edwards was escorted toward the tunnel. A short while later it was announced that Edwards had been relieved of his duties.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Herm Edwards was met by the ASU President and AD on the way off the field last night. <br><br>I’ve heard of getting tarmac’d but I think Herm is the first coach I’ve seen to get end zone’d… <a href="https://t.co/GLQXU5XC9F">pic.twitter.com/GLQXU5XC9F</a></p>&mdash; Jon Tweets Sports (@jontweetssports) <a href="https://twitter.com/jontweetssports/status/1571675309354655744?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 19, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Did Edwards get fired right there on the turf for all the players, cameras, and janitorial staff to see? We may never know for certain, but if so, it's gotta be one of the most brutal shitcannings in CFB history. Then to make matters even worse, on Monday, hours after losing his cushy D1 job, Edwards was seen leaving the great state of Arizona once and for all … on a commercial flight.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Herm out here flying commercial after getting canned. TOUGH SCENE. <a href="https://t.co/VsFbvZf5ZE">https://t.co/VsFbvZf5ZE</a></p>&mdash; Bunkie Perkins (@BunkiePerkins) <a href="https://twitter.com/BunkiePerkins/status/1571903690436648961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 19, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Waiting in line with boarding group Z, printed ticket in hand, single bagful of belongings slung over his shoulder. Short of Herm’s defense, you can’t draw up a sadder scene. We’re sure he’ll land on his feet at Big Noon Kickoff or something, but it still hurts to see a guy down this bad. So chin up, Herm. Hang tough. We don’t know where and we don’t know when, but it gets better.

Nebraska here he comes.

Rasputin 09-23-2022 02:39 PM

Wish he was fired out of a human cannon ball with no safety net to land on but instead burning Aids trees.

Bearcat 09-23-2022 02:44 PM

And the most DEVASTATING part... a commercial flight!

Man, **** Herm, but this is some bullshit. If I were a player I'd have my transfer paperwork filled out Monday 8:00AM. Players have ****ing 48 games in their entire career and you're ****ing with them? **** you.

If you leak shit, leak it to the media. Somebody will ALWAYS write a hit piece on a coach. Hell, some ****lehead in the AD made it.

Nope. The bolded is what scares the shit out of me. See Below.

Not so much. At least in Tempe he was withering in obscurity. ESPN will probably give him his job back and while I don’t watch any opinion shit, I’ll probably hear more from that bag of dog balls than I’ve heard while he was coach.

Hopefully he’ll retire. But you can bet whatever he’s doing he’s going to puke cliches while being wholly terrible at every aspect of what he’s trying to do. There is plenty of evidence to the affirmative and very very little to the negative.

**** that dude.

Buehler445 09-23-2022 03:55 PM

It does however surprise me that he can up and roll out same day.

I'm guessing that asshole was checked the **** out.

Yeah that's the really dumb part, it sounds like he wasn't trying too hard anyway so let him fail, why sabotage the guy in a way that's going to scare off any other good coach you'd try to hire. Not to mention the kids who are trying to win a game.

Couldn't stand him on ESPN. He may lead the history of civilization in using the most words to say the least. Makes my skin crawl. Never has there been anyone who deserved the success they've had less.

I think of that line from Macbeth every time I see/hear him:

"Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing."

First class atleast?

-King- 09-23-2022 08:42 PM

Lol why would anyone want to take that job now? As bad as Herm might be, they might have tanked any chance of getting a coach even half as good with this shit.

Yeah, this is the ****ing stupid part of it all.

They make it seem like he got the middle seat in economy between two Mark Mangino-sized behemoths.

Asshole probably got a cushy ass first class ticket and a bunch of free drinks.
