Anyone bashing Porter for playing when he's obviously not even close to healthy is an absolute asshole. If you want to bash someone, bash Barnett, Harris, Roberts, and Phillips. They all either quit, ****ed up, or should be in prison.

Of course, you could also bash the sports gods, who are the most vile ****s in existence.

Yeah Porter is one hell of a kid. He's definitely trying to just help this team. He's not doing this for himself. You can tell he's not playing at 100%

Jimkcchief88 03-16-2018 09:51 PM

At least UVA lost so no one will pay attention to this shit show. Truman had a great showing in the tourney commercial repeling from the ceiling swinging his tail. The rest of the team pulled a no show. Can Jordan Guiss graduate early?

I dont think anyone would notice anyway. It not like the choke job vs Norfolk St only to have Duke come to the rescue the same night.

He said when interviewed he’s only in the 60% range. I guess it was to much to ask for him to be a difference maker. Good luck in your NBA life Mikejr. We never got to know you as a Tiger.

Pointing out the obvious is being an asshole? Dude is playing ****ing horrible tonight. Not his fault, but it is what it is.

It wouldn't matter. All our offense consists of is running around the 3 point line like a bunch of dumb ****s until someone bricks or makes a 3.

Doesn't matter. They'll cut it to six or seven then bend over the barrel and get reamed. I've seen this ending.

LOL

Mizzou had seven guys on scholarship, they were missing their top 3 point guards, their second leading scorer, and their best player was a shell of himself. John Wooden with an assistant staff of Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, and Pete Newill wouldn't have won this game.

Pitt Gorilla 03-16-2018 10:57 PM

Florida State sucks balls, Martin and the boys got clowned tonight.

JohnnyHammersticks 03-16-2018 11:04 PM

Very unselfish of MPJ to play. Obviously not remotely ready. Risked blowing out a knee because his legs are still so weak.

Not sure I've ever seen a player improve less over the course of a year than Tilmon.

kcpasco 03-16-2018 11:07 PM

Tilmon sucks ass. I do not get the hype.

Pitt Gorilla 03-16-2018 11:14 PM

“What do you do when adversity hits?” he said. “Do you break? Do you give up? Do you quit? Do you deal with it, brush it off and keep moving forward? That’s what I tell our guys. … Deal with it, learn from it. Some lessons are more painful than others, but let’s make the necessary adjustments, deal what you need to deal with and let’s move forward. We don’t have time to complain and make excuses.”

KChiefs1 03-16-2018 11:28 PM

Mizzou had two players transfer, another one kicked off the team, a starter tear his ACL, and another starter get a DUI last week and not play tonight.

Cuonzo did an amazing job at coaching this season. Do you think anyone would have thought Mizzou would have made the tournament with MPJ playing only two minutes during the regular season and one game in the SEC tournament?

He took a team that won 27 games the previous three seasons combined and won 20 in his first season and made the tournament without the best recruit in the country hardly playing when it was expected that he'd be a big contributor.

That's beyond incredible.

baitism 03-17-2018 12:09 AM

Ugh. Can't help but wonder where this team would have been if the cards had fallen differently.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-17-2018 06:58 AM

Great effort by Martin this year. Losing the guards was an unforseen disaster and Barnetts suspension was a killer against a deep team.

No need to apologize, the fans realize it was his only season so far making your statement completely accurate. Unless of course you're saying that he won't ever be able to top a 20 win season with first round exits in the conference and NCAA tournaments. If you think he's not ever doing better than you just obviously don't know much about sports in general. What Martin did this season is a huge step in the right direction and the future definitely looks brighter than it did this time last year.

Looking at where the programs were over the last three years, it's amazing we played each other in an 8/9 matchup

This was a great season and the trajectory of our program is going up

This wasn't even a setback. It was an expected and acceptable outcome.

He wanted to go back home. He was on NC State’s bench for the last few games.

GloryDayz 03-17-2018 09:44 PM

MIZZOU things.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-17-2018 09:47 PM

This was a really weird season. The team overachieved on the macro level and underachieved significantly in numerous areas.

They probably should have had another four or five wins before the tournament. The West Virginia game was an egregious choke job, the Florida game was stolen by the referees, and the Ole Miss, LSU, and Illinois games were awful performances that Mizzou wins going away if they play at even 60 percent of their potential.

The team developed a hard-nosed defensive mentality, but suffered far too much attrition in the back court. Harris transferring killed this team, as did Phillips' moral failings and his complete lack of development from his sophomore to junior year. If he played like he did as a sophomore, this team probably wins 25-26 games even without MPJ.

Ultimately, they ran out of gas because they weren't deep enough. CVL sucks, but sucks is still a lot better than Rau. CVL's not even a homeless man's Matt Lawrence, and if I here one more middle-aged white guy defend him in CoMo, I might bludgeon them with a brick. Puryear showed almost no improvement, and had a terrible propensity for bad shots and bad fouls. The guy that truly kept this team afloat was Kassius, who, despite his suddenly awful free throw shooting over the last month, gave the team much more than anyone could have ever anticipated. He and Oriakhi are two one-year guys I will always look back upon with immense fondness. Geist sucks too, but he should be playing at Warrensburg. Barnett failed his teammates in their hour of greatest need and it broke their backs. He morphed himself into a corner-three camper, which was nice at times, but he needed to drive to the basket to open up the offense.

Grades:

Cuonzo Martin: B+

Kassius Robertson: A
Jontay Porter: B+
Jeremiah Tilmon: C-
Kevin Puryear: D
Jordan Geist: C+
Cullen Van Leer: D+
Jordan Barnett: B up until March 8, then F
Terrence Phillips: 20 to life
Blake Harris: WF
CJ Roberts: WF

And most dismaying of all

Michael Porter Junior: Incomplete

Hell of a job by Cuonzo this year however if we're being honest this looks like all his other years of coaching except with the tremendous job done this year I think he's set up to fail next year.

dlphg9 03-18-2018 04:33 PM

Hopefully we can land Ramey. Jontay should be alot better next year(unless he mistakenly goes to the NBA). We need another scorer or 2 and we should be as good if not better next year.

OKchiefs 03-22-2018 10:37 PM

God I hope we can do something of significance soon. It's embarrassing seeing what should be an inferior program like k-state with an inferior coach put us to shame. I wouldn't put money on an elite 8 trip any time soon.

TomBarndtsTwin 03-22-2018 10:46 PM

Put us to shame? Have you seen the dumpster fire that has been Mizzou basketball the last several years. Forget Kansas State, the worst team in the Big 12 would have put us to shame. It’s a small miracle that Mizzou won 20 games this year without basically a single significant minute from their top recruit and no PG. They were a young inexperienced team minus Kim Anderson’s garbage leftovers.

K-State is solid gritty team with strong veteran leadership, whose bracket opened up for them thanks to some upsets. Tonight’s win for them is impressive and kudos to them but it in no way takes away from Mizzou basketball when you consider the joke they’ve been the last few years prior to this years turn around.

Good luck to K-State against Loyola. They’ve got a great opportunity to make the Final 4.

Cuonzo Martin is in year 1

Weber is in year 6 or 7

It takes time to build a program. Cuonzo is already well on his way with a 20 win season
